  1. Creating busy work = job security
  2. I believe the internet isn't included when booking GS and above...right? I think it should be fleetwide !!!
  3. Not sure the gift cards and the gift certificates are the same but I use my certificates towards my final balance due. I believe you can apply the cards to OBC if done before you cruise....might be 10 business days.
  4. We've also sailed in #9256 and the #1100 luckily we had no noise issues from the WJ. Yes ... Not a fan of the GS on this class at all but since we had extended family sailing with us I booked into #1054 (the old CL) the #1052 next door to them was important. Otherwise I avoid the old style GS's.
  5. More glass and open views of the sea is the big difference on this class of ship.
  6. Enjoy the Explorer. We did a B2B on her this past March for her southern caribbean itinerary out of San Juan.
  7. Yes...but even I could easily see some of the bags they were flagging to be measured were so obviously "tiny" and that was my point.
  8. Regardless of which ship and where it is...internet can vary and also be affected by weather. It's all about the location of the satellite and how strong the signal is.
  9. The online check in is correct...You will be fine...enjoy your cruise !!
  10. RCI luggage valet hasn't been resumed post-covid. I'm sure when and if it does it will be a new topic on these boards. You may not even find out until you are onboard.
  11. Never an option in San Juan due to the agriculture check. "RCI" luggage valet hasn't resumed post-covid.
  12. While this certainly doesn't apply to me I found your facts to this question to be very interesting. If it's just a "port stop" in Canada how will/do they stop you from going ashore ?
  13. Just flew on Air Canada from YVR-LAX yesterday and this was the first time I've seen gate staff actually walking around the departure gate checking carryons. So many had to go up and measure their carryon and visually the bags were so small...very surprised at this...especially since the bins on this particular aircraft seemed larger than usual.
  14. Yes we were completely prepared for everything...I can't tell you how many times I (we) kept checking our phones at YVR. We had even pre-arranged with our private transportation to take us to the testing site and to wait for us and then continue on to Canada Place. We will absolutely be back to cruise Alaska for a 6th time. Again, I appreciate all your help and certainly your patience answering my many questions. Hoping you had a good visit with your Mom !!!
  15. Yes...we did fill it out as instructed but upon landing in Vancouver no one asked to see it (QR code) nor did they flying back to the US. We did our proctored test for RCI but they barely glanced at our hard copy. I was so concerned about the random testing as we arrived into YVR from LAX on our Air Canada flight but that didn't even seem to be a real thing. Very strange how this all played out in real time.
  16. Yes...I was disappointed in the GS on Serenade...and board her again this coming Sunday for her Panama Canal. We'll be in an OS for this itinerary...I took a quick look at the cabin while I was onboard and it's similar to my OS on Jewel recently however, the lighting from what I saw on Serenade is just as bad as the GS was. Lack of good lighting in the bathroom is just a pet peeve of mine. Enjoy the Radiance.
  17. We just returned yesterday from our Alaska cruise out/in Vancouver and already no one seemed to care about ArriveCan or covid testing.
  18. All of the pre-cruise worry I had ended up being for nothing. No one seemed to care about the ArriveCan and no random testing. Again thanks to all of you especially martincath !!!
  19. Just an update...Returned yesterday from our Alaska cruise on Serenade out/in Vancouver. No one seemed to care about the ArriveCan and there didn't seem to be any random testing upon arrival into YVR. Thanks to all of you for all the help this stressed out cruiser had. It couldn't have been easier, so much so that I was a bit suspicious that something was wrong.
  20. I've always loved the Radiance class but just returned from sailing Serenade in a GS and was very disappointed in this category. The lack of lighting in the bathroom and certainly the location of the TV was horrible...such a bad design !!!
  21. Just returned yesterday from our Alaska cruise out/in from Vancouver. No one seemed to care about the ArriveCan submission, hard copy of our negative covid test to board RCI...All the stress leading up to this cruise from Canada was for nothing.
  22. Just returned (yesterday) from our RCI Alaska cruise out/in Vancouver. We stressed so much about the ArriveCan and it ended up being nothing. No one starting from our Air Canada flight to YVR from LAX to boarding Serenade and then flying back to LAX from YVR even asked to see our QR code and boarding the ship they seemed to pay no attention to our hard copy of our negative covid test.
  23. I have a very small crossbody bag that just fits my SeaPass card and my iPhone.
  24. I'm sure someone can help with that but it's our home port and we just drive (45 min) and get on the ship.
