  1. Yep - just saw an image (Informed Delivery) of the flyer that's coming in the mail this afternoon. We'll have to wait until the 12th to see what's being offered up. I've had a few of these come my way, and always end up just booking other promos (where there are many other ships/dates offered). Perhaps one day! Tom
  2. Yep, save that for the top decks of the ships - lol 😉 Tom
  3. I should probably have prefaced my comment with the fact that we're not really beach people! If it was a place that offered air conditioned cabanas, the chances increase. We love the cabanas at Mahogany Bay (admittedly, not a private island). For tenders at ports we've haven't visited (not private islands), we'd more than likely deal with the hassle - for the sake of exploration and new experiences. I don't ever see us get off at Grand Cayman again - we've already swam with the stingrays, seen the turtles, and been to Hell - that about covers it, LOL. I look forward to more info on Celebration Key 🙂 Tom
  4. Any port with a pier is preferred to one involving tenders - that's for sure ! I can count on one finger how many times we've got off the ship at their private island where it was a tender port. Having said that - we've probably been to Coco Cay 2-3 times, and haven't got off. Our cruise earlier this year on MSC to their docked private island was nice. Tom
  5. The ship that I'd like to see come in - is the $30 CCL share price !! Tom
  6. Saw this a few minutes ago - the Whale Tail caught my eye and I was like --- HEY !! Tom
  7. Then, true to form, you've helped to create organized chaos here... 😉 Tom
  8. Merging the Allstate and AARP threads was not the best idea - most of the posts no longer have anything to do with what I subscribed to (AARP). Tom
  9. That's what I first thought when I saw the title of this thread... "Sgt Schultz is back?!!"
  10. We have our souvenirs from the Owner's Suite on the Sensation (probably owing to our staying in it several times). When they remodeled those two rooms in dry dock I asked my contact at Carnival what would happen to those lamps, and was told that they could hold them for me at the port (Canaveral) after the ship came back if we wanted them! I had them rewired (for 120v). Tom
  11. There's a reason(s) they're not in the fleet any longer 🙂 If any of those were brought back, I would not sail on them... In other words, for us, certain things (restaurants, venues, amenities, etc) trump nostalgia. Tom
  12. Or, save your money, Celebrity, and don't waste the postage sending me offers for free inside cabins on select sailings w/$25 Freeplay. I'm not going to bite at such an insult/joke! Tom
  13. March '08. I understand she was quite the ship in her day - all 23,000 GRT of her. I could see some areas of detail and workmanship (some public areas/dining room), but they really let her go... I can't find my (detailed/scathing) review, but here are a few pics (ours was one of the "nicer" suites - complete with a hot tub).
  14. That might be similar to their military discount - which on our next sailing was a moot point, as we opted to book a RS cabin (I guess they feel if you're paying that much, you're not concerned with saving money... dunno... LOL). It's worth looking into --- THANKS Tom
  15. I am intrigued by them - if only they'd bring one of those two ships to Pt Canaveral (instead of the aforementioned Caribbean Princess)!! I was thrilled when I heard about Princess finally coming to Pt Canaveral, and then the ship was named. I was also thrilled recently upon hearing that Celebrity was also coming here, but that faded pretty quick too !! Tom
  16. The Regal Empress was a ship (tub!) sailing under Imperial Majesty Cruise Line (see the link in my prior reply). The only Princess ship we've been on was the Caribbean Princess. It was not a ship I'd sail on again - but that's another story ! Tom
  17. I was actually HAPPY to hear about THIS ship getting scrapped --- disliked it, with a passion !! Tom
  18. Then I'd venture that you never sailed on the Regal Empress... one day the best the buffet could muster was Little Smokies ! Tom
  19. If this topic was on the Carnival board (it has been, many times) it wouldn't have made it 5 days, let alone 5 years. I'm happy to see that this thread is allowed to continue (and to continue providing useful information) with tempered moderation - CHEERS! Tom
  20. I had a friend who skipped first grade. Let's just say he shouldn't have! Tom
  21. Man, that's a no-brainer. The OBC alone easily covers AARP membership! Tom
  22. A few weeks ago I priced out a cruise over Thanksgiving on the Seashore and it would be a little over $5,000 for 6 nights. To have Wi-Fi, drinks, a private sun deck, lounge and restaurant. Seemed a great value!
