  1. Sorry but I disagree. There is still only 1 bathroom and a bed or 3 to make up. It’s more work but only marginally more work than a regular balcony. The more people in the cabin, the more tips. Carnival charges more tips per person for suites because they can. We’ve stayed in several penthouse or grand suites or whatever they’re called. I’ve also cleaned hotels so I know of what I speak. A balcony of messy people takes more time than a suite with clean people.
  2. Other people in your group would need to buy chat in order to talk to her. On our last cruise I had premium internet. My DH bought only the chat feature. So I figured I’d better get it too. On the last day, he was sitting on the balcony and I was sitting inside and we were just texting each other. Not using chat feature at all. 🙄 Agreed. Before buying the chat feature, see if texting works. Still have all your phones on airplane mode.
  3. That would be annoying. You might mention that in your survey. Vegan is becoming more common these days. Our son is vegan and it’s ridiculous how restaurants always steer vegans to salad. 🙄 Good vegan food is actually food, not salad.
  4. LOL. I just texted him on the balcony and he’s not 7 feet away, with no Wi-Fi, and he got the text. 🤷‍♀️
  5. Yes. Airplane mode. Yes. Cellular off. I was on Carnival Wi-Fi. DH and I are on MG now. In fact, even though my DH has no Wi-Fi plan, his phone kept ringing when our cat feeder walked up to the front door for some reason. Also, when I texted our sons photos while on the cruise in a group text, he’d get the text but not the photos, which was strange.
  6. Well, last day today. No gifts dropped off. I don’t think I will do another Ultra. I’ve done a Get Away before and I think the gifts were better. I get a lot of free interiors so I’d rather do those. And I’ve spent a lot of money on this cruise. But as I wonder around the casino, I can see that my points are WAY lower than most people. 😳 Not really seeing the advantage of the drawings each day in the casino. All in all I had a great time though.
  7. New gifts today (Thursday). A couple glasses and straws.
  8. Well, no bar, no bar service and no table games until we sail.
  9. LOL. No! I’m afraid! I’m too intimidated by table games because I have math dyslexia. My DH said he’d help me do a table game but then he bailed on me. 😞 Maybe I’ll go down there and see if anyone is standing alone at the tables. 🫣
  10. I was on Sunshine a few months ago and had the value plan. Once on board, I purchased premium for $10 and was able to text and make FaceTime calls with other iPhone users.
  11. Wow. Been here a bunch of times and never knew that.
  12. Hmm. That’s interesting. We’re docked in Grand Turk and the casino says it’s open now. For 24 hours.
  13. Yes. I’m not a fan of the strawberries and smeared chocolate plate. You may request the cookies (4) instead.
  14. Received nothing for Ultra on Tuesday but received a whole mess of cookies (8) on Wednesday. Between the two sets of Platinum cookies and the Ultra cookies, I’m glad that I brought along some ziplock bags because there’s no way we’re eating all these. 😁
  15. I’ve cruised out of Charleston 10+ times. I like a quiet cruise as well. So with the exception of spring break, I found that 5 day cruises from Charleston are decent. Especially in November. If it’s during Thanksgiving break, there may be a lot of families.
  16. Yes. When I was on the Sunshine a few months ago, they called JiJi’s noon meal “Mongolian Wok” on the app but in reality, it was the paper sheet.
  17. You can ask your room attendant to get a lounger for you. We did.
  18. Not sure. I’d grab coffee at Java Blue or Bar de la Rosa as I think it tastes better.
  19. Yes. It’s about $4-5. I was on the MG twice last year and they must have upgraded their coffee machines because coffee tastes way better now.
  20. While you wait for Bluebird, I will tell you that Emrils had NO flavorings. And they serve you in a cup unless you are taking it to go. The cup is not as large as a regular Java Blue cup as far as I could tell. We stopped off for beignets which were on sale for $5 for 6. Somehow, I thought they had some kind of luscious cream filling of some sort but they only had air inside. Say what?! Maybe you’re supposed to pour the chocolate or strawberry sauce INSIDE this big gaping hole? 🤷‍♀️ At any rate, they were yummy.
  21. Yes! Great time! Food has been good except the buffet where the beef dishes seem to have A LOT of fat and gristle. This is why I rarely eat meat outside my house. I’m a huge fan of the creative salad bar concoctions at the end of the salad bars. Very much interested in what your vegan friend is enjoying around the ship as our son is vegan and I keep telling him to cruise and they will accommodate him. I love good vegan food. I will say hello if I see you around !
  22. Hi Bluebird. I’m on here with you. My cruises are usually working cruises and after trying for 45 minutes to connect, I called guest services to see if there was an issue. After 10 rings, they hung up on me. I went downstairs and the lady says “it’s because of the weather” so apparently a few sprinkles makes the internet not work. She said that it will work “eventually”. We had actual thunderstorms and terrible winds on Elation last month and I watched the Murdaugh trial on YouTube with no issues. Agreed. Let’s hope Carnival gets Starlink soon.
  23. No. The stir fry is still there. What’s not there is the kind of stir fry where YOU pick vegetables and protein and they stir fry it.
  24. Day 2. Went to the casino for the Ultra only drawing at 400 pm. I was playing but I don’t think you have to. Sadly, my name wasn’t called although they did call a few names of people who weren’t there. Received one of those low sitting beach chairs.
  25. I think I misspoke. The choices were not a Roomba or a nesting camera. Maybe those are prizes for later. I went to my assigned time and the punchline to collect my prize. they are checking IDs and you walk through the door and they give you a Mamosa or champagne. Then you pick from a box with a bunch of envelopes. you take your envelope to the front area and they have you decide what your prize is. My choices were $750 in fun play, a iPhone 13, or some kind of luggage. I took the 750 fun play. I didn’t think I did too bad, because there smaller amounts, like $250, all the way up to $1000.
