  1. Mine too. All they did was extend the deadline from May 1 to July 1 for mine. Same offers. I noticed my offers are for cruises way out in the future. It’s easier for me to book last minute but there are none.
  2. A lot depends on how much you pay for your cruise. Whenever I book a cheap or free cruise, I don’t care if I get back any money for cancellation. It is then when I buy carnival insurance because I just want flown to the US for treatment if I need it. However, if I spend a lot on a cruise, that’s the time I use Travel Guard. They reimbursed me every penny and very quickly when I broke my foot and wrist only 2 months prior to sailing. Great customer service.
  3. Price-chicken. 😂 My guess is that since cruising is becoming more expensive these days, some people will trot over from Royal, NCL, etc., and that $700 price tag won’t seem so bad as they’re spending less on their voyage. Someone will pony up that cost. Just theorizing, of course. I’m out.
  4. Yep. We’ve had a cabana 90% of the time at HMC because I need to stay out of the sun. We don’t usually do any excursions on the Bahamas trips, so splitting the cost amongst 2-4-6 is not too bad. We usually just have it for 2. However, everyone has their jumping off point and $700 is definitely mine.
  5. I’ve been on MG 4 times. Excellent location. You can’t go wrong with midship on deck 9 or 10. 👍 Please note: Smoking is permitted in a designated outdoor area at Bar Della Rosa on Deck 8 (starboard side, midship). Therefore, you may wish to move if you’re on that side. Not bad when sailing but possible smoke if in port. Enjoy!
  6. Yes, I realize that. However, I only give anytime dining EXTRA tips if I have the same team for several nights. To me, the service during YTD ranges from ho-hum to lousy. Unless I find a good one and stick with them for the remainder. Thus, resulting in an extra tip.
  7. Wow. 😳I’ve been on MG 4 times and never knew this. I just always happened to choose YTD. 🤷‍♀️ I was thinking of starting to do early dining simply because I figured the service is better and you get to know the servers. I knew I would give additional tips on set dining and I was fine with that. However, if that’s a condition of early dining, then I am out. I start getting hangry around 6-6:30 and nobody wants THAT. Thanks for posting OP.
  8. I vote Carnival goes back to San Juan. I don’t do western. I’m getting bored with going to The Bahamas. Plus, we’ve been sitting on free airfare and hotel miles for forever. If Carnival doesn’t sail from SJ soon, I’m using those frequent miles and go on SeaDream I or II, which has been on my bucket list.
  9. I think it depends on the amount. I had $750 in funplay. When I went to the cage to get the funplay, they asked if I play slots. I said yes and so they added it to my card as “funplay,” meaning that I actually had to push the “funplay” button to gamble with it. Once I won a little something, I added that $$ to my “bank. “ The next time I sat at a machine, I used the “funplay” button again. Then just moved those winnings to my bank. And so on. The $25 Platinum money is either given in cash or put on your card, depending on the ship.
  10. Me too. I feel like I’m spending a good amount but when I see people sitting there at a slot machine on the second day with over 30,000 points, that’s when I know I’m small potatoes.
  11. Sounds like I need to investigate the Buffalo slot. I JUST started playing the Panda, having stayed on Quick Hit for years. These slots with the multiple rows of letters and symbols is too confusing to me. 😂.
  12. Yup. This. I love my PVP too. Ooooo! Maybe we have the same one!😁
  13. Pretty quickly. If she can’t immediately, then she sends me an email or text telling me that she’s with a client and will call when she’s finished. No more putting cruises on hold if PVP is expecting to get credit. I guess you could put it on hold, then take it off hold after you get your PVP on the phone. The way cruises have been getting booked lately and changing by the hour, I would expect a call back soon if you’ve had this PVP for a while.
  14. $1200 on a Panda slot on a $4 spin the last night on MG a few weeks ago. I had already dropped about that gambling during the cruise so I was happy to break even. So was my non-gambling DH. 🙂
  15. LOL. I knew someone would chime in. The “hype” is … because very rarely do I ever sit in the chairs for more than a few minutes. I try for a 9:30/10:00 check-in. By the time I’ve arrived, they’re boarding weddings and suites. I don’t mind waiting. Like Ninja says, the sooner I board, the sooner my vacation starts. 😉
  16. If you want to be able to check in at the absolute earliest allowable time, I’d actually set my alarm for midnight. It’s a pain to wake up and check in when the clock strikes the 16th day at midnight, however, you’ll get the very earliest option available to you. Enjoy!
  17. I’m not sure which Carnival ship it was on but I wanted to see what this “tea time” was all about. Nobody wanted go with me so I made our 13 yr old son go. We had lovely little cucumber sandwiches and pastries. He held his tea cup with his pinky sticking out and kept saying “how glorious!” and fluttering his eyelashes. We laughed and had a fun time, and it remains one of my fond Carnival memories.
  18. LOL. My experience with a 4J …. We had somewhat bad weather starting at Noon on the last day. About 2 pm, I kept hearing this banging. It kept on and on and on. I figured they must be working on the air conditioning or something. Banging went on and after dinner, still banging. I returned from the casino at 10pm. Still banging. I called GS and said there must be something which has come loose outside my window. Is anyone else calling about this? No ma’am. It’s the waves. Are ya sure? I’ve been on a lot of cruises and never heard waves like this … Yes, ma’am. I’m sure. Nothing I can do about it. Are you positive? Because it seems like something is flapping around out there. I’d go out there myself but there’s a sign saying not to go out there … It’s waves, Ma’am. So I go to sleep and wake up at 3 a.m. because of the banging. I get dressed, go down to GS so that the lady there can tell me that it’s waves. I insisted she send somebody to my cabin. She seemed annoyed as heck. Head of Housekeeping shows up, and I apologize for waking him. He listens and says he thinks he knows what it is. He goes outside, stops the banging and comes back. What was it? It was straps on the stacked loungers outside my window which had come loose. 🙄 I listened to that for HOURS. Here’s what it sounded like. I don’t know if the link will work. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0f0hQx6T9aTvr3ixgPNUsniAg Definitely get a Cove balcony.
  19. I’m kinda missing the tablecloths. On the MG, it seemed that EVERY time we sat down at the table, whether it was the MDR, the cucina del capitano, the chi-bang, etc., the tables always had these smeared water marks, as if the tables weren’t clean. Not sure if they were or weren’t but it really looked bad. Also, it seemed like condensation from my water glass dripped on my clothes unless I continued to wipe the bottom of the glass throughout dinner.
  20. Really!? I’ve never had 2 bathrooms. Didn’t even know that was a thing.
  21. I never prepay tips. Reason being is if I cancel, or if Carnival goes belly up, then I have less skin in the game. I have 4 cruises set for 2024 and prepaid tips on none of them despite the grats going up on April 1. I’m not going to sweat the grats increase. I also don’t understand the “get it out of the way so I don’t have to worry about it” mindset. I don’t “worry” about it. At all. I figure if you’re going on a cruise to begin with, you must have disposable income to pay some kind of grats before exiting the ship, whether it be auto grats or cash or Visa gift cards.
  22. Sorry but I disagree. There is still only 1 bathroom and a bed or 3 to make up. It’s more work but only marginally more work than a regular balcony. The more people in the cabin, the more tips. Carnival charges more tips per person for suites because they can. We’ve stayed in several penthouse or grand suites or whatever they’re called. I’ve also cleaned hotels so I know of what I speak. A balcony of messy people takes more time than a suite with clean people.
  23. Other people in your group would need to buy chat in order to talk to her. On our last cruise I had premium internet. My DH bought only the chat feature. So I figured I’d better get it too. On the last day, he was sitting on the balcony and I was sitting inside and we were just texting each other. Not using chat feature at all. 🙄 Agreed. Before buying the chat feature, see if texting works. Still have all your phones on airplane mode.
  24. That would be annoying. You might mention that in your survey. Vegan is becoming more common these days. Our son is vegan and it’s ridiculous how restaurants always steer vegans to salad. 🙄 Good vegan food is actually food, not salad.
