  1. I’ve used the same plastic slinky cord they used to hand out free at the casino. It looks cheap but it’s so light that I barely notice it. I started using a lanyard when I began leaving my card in the slots in the casino. 😂
  2. This sounds nice. Photo? Where did you get it?
  3. If you’re in a suite, you can access it prior to 1:30 and STAY IN IT. P and Ds just drop luggage and leave.
  4. You could always try calling and ask for a supervisor and then have them get you a PVP with 5 or 10 years’ experience. Seems like I have to do that a lot these days, whether it’s a vet, a realtor, whatever. I’m tired of dealing with people who know less than I do when I’m paying for things. Or that may be more work than you want to put into it 🙂.
  5. Yes. Even though you use a PVP, you still have control over your reservation. The trick is to get a good PVP, which we’re not allowed to talk about here. As I said, my PVP has been with Carnival since 1998 and her title is elite something. I was sailing with Carnival for about 3 or 4 years when she just answered the 800 phone number one day back in 2012 🤷‍♀️.
  6. This is exactly what I did. I had a casino offer and when I went to put it on hold, the only interior cabin available was a family harbor in the bottom of the ship. My PVP said “Why did you put that one on hold? That’s for families.” I said “that was all there was.” She found me a cabin midship on level 9 for the same price. We literally spent 15 minutes trying to find a suitable spot for me. Normally, she would just change the hold to a booking. IMO, this new change will be counterproductive for Carnival, as PVPs will be spending more time on the phone with REPEAT guests, giving them less time making bookings with NEW customers.
  7. Exactly. I have my PVP’s cell # for that very reason. There’s very little chance I would book without going through my PVP as the way Carnival runs its business, I need a PVP in my corner. We’re booked on Royal this year and I don’t have that safety net and I’m not liking it.
  8. My PVP said this. I just put a cruise on hold. Then when she called me for my credit card number, she said “starting next month, please do NOT put anything on hold because I won’t get credit. Just call me.” She’s been a PVP with Carnival since 1998.
  9. After the end of this month (Feb ‘23), PVPs will no longer be given “credit” for cruises put on the 48-hour hold by a guest. If you find a cruise you wish to book, you must contact your PVP first. Whether your PVP needs to put it on hold while you get your travel companions the info or whether you’ll need to purchase the cruise at that moment, is unknown. This really stinks because it makes things easier for me as well as my PVP. 😒
  10. 😞 Ugh. I was wondering about this. That’s going to really hard to justify as we pay that for 2 people as well. In fact, we only use it until 2 o’clock usually.
  11. Yikes! LOL. I was merely pointing out that it was a suite as these supposedly have the more experienced room attendants. I’ve had interior cabins across the hall from the suites and they sometimes share the same room attendants and I have actually found that to be true.
  12. Huh? 😳 I’m on this cruise too and we’re leaving March 6. My cruise seems to have disappeared of my list but isn’t it March 6?
  13. I booked last minute and I’m platinum. I was traveling alone and wanted early seating. Saw the MD upon boarding No can do they said. Doesn’t hurt to ask.
  14. If you’re not a strawberry fan or if you’re allergic, ask for a plate of cookies. They give you 4 big cookies.
  15. Thinking about booking. I saw a YouTube review video by Ben and David talking about recent renovations on SD I. What about SD II?
  16. Here’s my bathroom. It took me a day or so to quit stepping up into the bathroom since it’s flat. 😂
  17. I booked last minute and they gave me a handicap cabin. I’d stay put. I think if your husband is using a walker then those wide doorways with the doors which remain propped open will work great for him. Plus you don’t have to step up into the bathroom.
  18. I was flying down the hallway and saw a cat and did a double take.
  19. I’m with you. I took 7 cruises last year and 3 this year. No Marijuana smoking or fighting. 🤷‍♀️ I was threatened at the elevator on the MG when some guy jumped the line in front of everyone to disembark though. 😳. That was weird. He asked if I wanted to “know” him. 😂
  20. Problem is … I used to not care where any of these tips go. Whatever. 🤷‍♀️ Now that I’m getting less services for more money, I do.
  21. Using this line of thinking, the other people at the same level as me at work get the same pay as I do, regardless of my skill set and quality — and we know that’s not true. I think what some people are beginning to think is that the nominal tips were just that, a small additional amount added to your total cost. But now, paying hundreds of dollars for a family of 4, well — they want to know where that money is going. I can say from past experience that cleaning a room used by 4 people isn’t that much more difficult than cleaning up after 2 people.
  22. Source? When our son bused tables at an upscale restaurant, he was paid about the same each week because the employer would adjust the pay based on tips, actually making up the difference or spreading around the overage. So basically it didn’t matter how well or fast he did the job, he got paid the same. I am interested where your information comes from which states that the cruise line doesn’t make up for shortfalls.
  23. Stands to reason. If you wait last minute to buy cruises or land vacations for spring break, you pay more and get the scraps which are left. My sister does this all the time. Buy now for next year and the year after that. I’d rather lose a $100 deposit if I change my mind, than spend an extra $500+ for a subpar room later. But that’s just me. Sometimes people can’t schedule out that far. I schedule the rest of my life AROUND vacation. 😎. Always have.
  24. One thing I have noticed about the cabins is that they are not as clean as they used to be. On the Mardi Gras a few months ago, our shower had a pinkish colored ring around the bottom where the sides and drip pan meet. Also, there were remnants of facial hair on the white shelving under the sink. Also had toddler handprints from sunscreen on the brown wooden walls and fronts of the drawers. The MG has not been in service but a few years and it’s starting to look shabby. The time prior, the bathroom floor drain had urine on it from the prior guest. “Oh, he’s going to clean that up tomorrow” I thought. Nope. I had to write a note as I just couldn’t let it slide. This was a suite. I believe the cabins are dirtier now due to the once per day cleaning, quick turnaround time, and lack of workers. They don’t seem to have anyone checking their work. Deep cleaning is needed or sometimes twice per day.
