  1. I would love for the Ovation to go to LA, but no way would I do short cruises. Heck, I don’t even like 7 night, but I would still take those. 😉
  2. I have seen a couple types of little sandwiches and cookies, but I’m usually on longer cruises. I never went into the lounge on my recent 14 night on Jewel. So not sure if it’s standard.
  3. On my recent Jewel cruise to Greenland, they gave us an extra voucher for specialty coffee. I rarely use the 5 I get, but I never went to the DL, and just got my morning Caramel Latte at Cafe Latte-tudes. You may get the same thing on your cruises, if they are top tier heavy.
  4. You can also get price drops if they are before final payment. Those drops aren’t happening as much as before shutdown, but there’s always a chance.
  5. I agree. This is not normal…. After researching the Roll Calls, Fall of 2022 was unique. It did a Vancouver-Honolulu, Sept 23 of 2022, and Honolulu-Vancouver, Oct 4 2022. Definitely not the norm.
  6. I had it a bit easier, since I was In Transit from Australia. But they were still confused letting the In Transit folks back on after the Coast Guard inspection was over.
  7. I don’t know why my mind went to organ donor and not the obvious, blood donor 🤦🏼‍♀️. Do people that donate blood regularly have a card that they can keep track of dates they last donated. In this electronics age, I would think it would be digital now. It’s been years since I donated blood, but there may have been a card way back then.
  8. I just sailed the Ovation in May from Honolulu to Vancouver (last Royal ship to Lahaina 😢). It does start to cool down once you’re at sea, but not drastically. I checked my notes, and I didn’t write down anything that would have been out of the ordinary. I looked at my photos of Cruise Compass and predicted temps were 60-70 on sea days. Cooler as we got closer to Westcoast. It is really hard to predict year to year.
  9. In Washington State, it is listed on my driver’s license that I am a donor. Now that usually means if I die, I will donate organs, so not sure how it pertains to somebody who’s still alive.
  10. This is the Royal Caribbean thread, not Seabourn. They both have ships named Ovation.
  11. I just returned for the Jewel on Thursday. I never saw any Cruise Compass at Guest Services, but I did ask my Cabin Steward for one, and got one every night. You can bring a 12 pack, up to 17oz, of non alcoholic beverages upon boarding in your checked bag. It’s per cabin, not per person.
  12. You don’t need to make reservations. If you are just a party of 2, the wait will be minimal. Just off the Jewel, and I don’t eat in MDR, but friends were told they start releasing Early Traditional tables at about 6:15. They never made reservations. It really depends on how many open tables they have open from the early seating. So I would go and check earlier than when they actually say MTD starts. My daughter and granddaughter were on the Wonder in July and also did not make reservations. Never had to wait more than 10 or 15 mins. Of course different ships could do different things, but it doesn’t hurt to check.
  13. As a side note, I didn’t interact with Kat, but I found her staff top notch. Some of the best I’ve sailed with, especially Fernanda, Ashleigh, Marcus and Eddy. And thanks to @Rogueperson , @little britain and others for pics and updates. I couldn’t imagine trying to do a live report and post pics with this internet. It was beyond sad. I know there are those that like smaller, older ships, but after sailing the Jewel, I am more of a bigger, newer ship kind of gal. Still had a great time, but I’m ready to go home. I have an 8 month gap until my next sailing. It will be my first Celebrity sailing on the Edge to Alaska. And after my 54 nights on Ovation this year, I’m ready for some home time. Safe travels to all….Debbie
  14. Thank you for explaining this so well. Some don’t understand what this law protects, and how it impacts vessels other than just cruise ships.
  15. I guess my first post didn’t post. That’s me in the first pic, looking worried…🤣🤣 This was a lot of fun.
  16. @ourusualbeach answered the Op’s question perfectly. In March, I boarded the Ovation in Sydney for a B5B, that ended in Seattle. 2 of the legs were Hawaii and Alaska. No problem whatsoever doing these cruise. Maybe one day, the PVSA will be part of the training for cruise reps from all cruise lines. They still continue to get it wrong, even the name.
  17. I’m on the Jewel right now, and so far have escaped the dreaded fruit plate. I have received a cheese plate, and a trio of mini cupcakes.
  18. I actually attempted last night, after I saw little britain’s pics, to see if I could spot the lights, but no luck. Plus it was really cold. 🥶
  19. Since I foster dogs from a rescue where I live, there was one that followed us on a trek through town. He was at the dock and came up to me and jumped and put paws on my chest. I’m sure he has an owner somewhere here, but I wished I had bought dog food and placed around the city. Goodbye Greenland. It was great visiting. Now for the 1/2 hour time change tonight for Newfoundland 😬
  20. Supposed to be 39 degrees F in Nuuk on Wed. Google the next few days and you will see we won’t be having a warm streak. Being from the PNW, I was prepared for the temps, and packed accordingly. I was in Qatortoq in Aug of 2018, and the wind was bitter cold.
  21. That’s why I booked Royal. It was 1/2 the price. My friends switched. On the Jewel now and expected in Nuuk on Wed.
  22. LOL…I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I do love my martinis. Dirty Bombay Sapphire, please 😉
