  1. When I did this in 2014 (from the Airport on arrival) I didn't book in advance due to not knowing when I would actually arrive. There were no second class tickets available, and I was forced to buy a fairly pricey first class ticket. If I remember correctly, tickets were cheaper if bought in advance. Since you will be getting off a cruise you will be off fairly early. (I don't know whether you are on an ocean cruise - are you sure you are docking in Amsterdam and not Ijmuiden or Rotterdam? - or a river cruise but as long as you are actually in Amsterdam you could leave fairly early in the morning.) I'm not sure which trains have advance purchase discounts, but they do exist. I will note that when I did this, there was a direct train from the airport to Bruges. I'm not seeing any direct trains right now.
  2. This belongs in the Asia port of call forum. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/43-asia/
  3. Yes, I realized that after my response.
  4. I have no specific experience, except that I am booked on a Norway cruise from Oslo to Copenhagen for next June. When the excursions first showed up, many had morning and afternoon options (thus 2 identification numbers). Since then, all of the excursions have moved to the exact start of the time in port. I don’t know whether these are the final times or not.
  5. You MUST pre-book tickets to Anne Frank House. See the website for details about when they go on sale because they sell out quickly. https://www.annefrank.org/en/museum/tickets/
  6. The email doesn't mention in in the text, but the FAQs below mention it specifically. Q: If I test positive for COVID-19, will I be able to cancel the voyage and receive a Future Cruise Credit or refund? A: Any and all cancellations on voyages departing on or after 1 October 2023 are subject to our cancellation policy. No Future Cruise Credit or refund will be issued. We encourage you to purchase a Travel Insurance to protect your investment.
  7. The OP does state that they will be coming by car.
  8. I guess I missed that.
  9. I think the latest date they have publicized is May 2024 which, if that date stays, means I will need one for my trip in June. (But who knows; their dates seem to be more flexible than the opening date for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT here in Toronto.)
  10. I don’t think ETIAS will be a hassle. It should be a very simple process. I think it will speed up processing on arrival.
  11. At least 6 months from a previous shot or infection.
  12. I believe Avalon also sails into/out of HCMC. I didn’t sail the Mekong with them (I was on the Irawaddy) but the ships are almost identical, 12 cabins on the lower deck and 6 on the upper; quite a bit smaller than most of the other Mekong ships. And I very much enjoyed the bed facing the water; occasionally when cruising I would open the panoramic window all the way, close the screen, and sit up in bed watching the water go by.
  13. I think that this question is much more cruise line dependent than location dependent. I posted at exactly the same time as @hallasm.
  14. The same should be true in countries where employees are paid a proper living wage. Why do you feel that it is necessary to subsidize a living wage.
  15. Note that eSim is not a physical card. The one I have (which I have not yet used) allows you to add data for many different locations individually. However, I believe that much of Europe is a single location.
  16. If you enter Canada in Halifax and cruise to Quebec City, you don’t go through immigration again.
  17. I might suggest setting up a gmail account for this and reapplying. There is a possibility that your email provider has blocked the email as suspected spam.
  18. As long as you don’t leave Egypt in between the stops, you are only making one ENTRY into Egypt.
  19. I believe Premier Inn can only be booked on their own website.
  20. I must say the close up of the gables is very Dutch.
  21. I climbed up to Signal Hill and the museum there in 2016 when I was in town for a conference. I did this in 30 degree C heat, which was almost unheard of in Newfoundland at the time; I'm not sure what climate change has done since then. When I was packing I brought all long pants, but decided to throw in a pair of capris at the last minute; I wore them almost every day until the conference, which was, of course, air conditioned.
  22. Mysty beat me to it. Although I was going to commend @TLCOhio for getting the St. and Saint part correct; St. John's NL is always abbreviated, and Saint John NB is never abbreviated.
  23. If the OP is looking for a hotel near St. Pancras, I stayed at the Premier Inn St. Pancras, and it was very comfortable and a very short walk from the station. It has an elevator. I had added the included breakfast with my reservation; when I arrived I found that they also had a simpler breakfast available (without the hot foods like eggs and bacon which I don't eat) for less. They quickly adjusted my reservation to the lower cost breakfast. And I had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant on one night.
  24. I did it over Christmas/New Years 2022/23. I mailed the package December 10, the payment for the passport was put through December 20, and, if I had been home I would have had both the new passport and my old one in my hands January 4. Since I had to go pick it up I got them both January 5. All this despite it going in during the Christmas rush and all of the extra statutory holidays. (Despite living in Ontario, my passport was issued in Surrey BC. My guess is that for mailed in applications, they send them to less busy offices.) I think there was a spot on the application to ask for the old one back. I don’t think it was automatic, but my memory may be faulty.
