  1. I've noticed that the barrel chair is not pictured in cabin photos but is still pictured in cabin videos I've watched. You would think they could "Photoshop" the videos if they don't want to make new ones. πŸ€”
  2. Several months ago, Princess offered $600 per cabin in OBC, fleetwide, during a sale. We always wanted to visit Iceland and chose this cruise. I reserved with 2 people per cabin. Later that day, the single supplement dropped from 100% to 6%. I rebooked knowing that with our own cabins, we would each get $600 in OBC. I also checked the prior and following cruise since many are doing B2B2B on this ship. Only the Iceland segment offers the reduced single supplement and many singles have joined our roll call recently. I never bothered to buy CCL stock since my previous cruises would have only scored $100 in OBC. (Glad I didn't in retrospect.) Now, with a 14-day cruise, it is a great deal. $250 pp in OBC plus the stock price is rising. πŸ€‘
  3. I was able to book excursions using OBC and the cruise is 3 months away.
  4. Fortunately for us this wasn't a difficult choice. Four of us each got $600 in OBC as part of a sale when we booked our 14-day Iceland cruise. The single supplement dropped to 6% so we each got our own balcony cabins. Then, we bought 100 shares of CCL for an additional $250 in OBC. The stock has since risen about $300 and we each have $850 in OBC to spend on drinks and shore excursions. None of us are heavy drinkers and we will probably bring extra wine on board and pay corkage if necessary. No need for Plus or Premier. I have one question though. Can we pay the "wine table corkage fee" with OBC after stops at various ports? Thanks!πŸ™ƒ
  5. I tried a board search and a Google search. No actual coupons. Just links to this discussion and coupons for discounts on cruises. Can anyone post a link to the actual, printable, coupons? Thanks!
  6. The ones with an embossed pattern on a solid color work as dressy casual here. Multi-colored shirts not so much.
  7. On formal nights, I wear dark solid-color Tommy Bahama camp shirts, and black slacks along with solid black Nike Pegasus shoes (which go unnoticed). I've never been turned away from the MDRs yet. 🫰 There is no way I would pack dress shoes for a few evenings over a two-week cruise and I no longer own a tie. I live in Hawaii and its punishment enough to have to put on long pants after 4-5 years in nothing but shorts.
  8. You can spend it on Princess excursions now for use during your trip. You can also spend it in the stores onboard and in certain portside shops. (Buy gifts.) You could also spend it on sanctuary days, photos, casino, etc.
  9. An added bonus is that by waiting to buy onboard, the additional cost is not reflected in your insurance price (assuming you buy insurance from Princess).
  10. Did they drop a basket down for the person? I'm sure there is no spot to land on the ship, right?
  11. Twin beds on cruise ships are 2.5 feet wide instead of the standard 3 feet wide. When latched together, they form a queen-size bed (5 ft. wide) rather than a king (6 ft. wide). On our next cruise, the 4 of us are getting 4 balcony cabins so no one has to sleep on these narrow, uncomfortable "cots". 😠
  12. We were on the Crown Princess in 2017, traveling around South America. The choice was to board in Rio, or the next port, Buenos Aires. We chose B.A. having already been to Rio. Long after departing Rio, the Crown had to turn back due to a medical emergency. We sat at the B.A. port all day long with zero information. Finally in the evening, Princess reps. admitted the ship would not arrive until the next day and bused us to a 5-star hotel. No one had access to their luggage and no dinner vouchers were provided. We had everything we needed in carry-ons, but some didn't. The next day were bused back to the port and boarded. Next stop was Montevideo, Uruguay. Being a day behind, we had no empty berth to dock. We sat offshore and were refueled from a barge. In the evening when another ship departed, we were allowed into port. Our visit was two hours long in torrential rain. Most of us dashed to a liquor store, then back to the ship. No officials on board had the nerve to challenge us, toting cases of beer, etc. The next day we were scheduled to water shuttle to the Falkland Islands. We skipped that port due to "weather". Actually, it was to get us back on our cruise schedule. The rest of the trip was uneventful, and we had a great time. Onboard was a huge group of English pensioners who had come on this trip specifically to visit the Falklands. They were livid and held meeting after meeting attended by ship's officers. First, we were awarded 25% back. After more angry meetings, we were given 50% back. By the time we reached Chile, the captain announced that everyone on board would receive 100% back in future cruise credit and cash for port fees, etc. We didn't deserve it (nor did Princess) because the debacle was caused by an old person who died enroute. We simply thanked the Captain and booked a Baltic Sea cruise a few months later. Both cruises were awesome! πŸ‘ I hope we will be able to port, at least, in Reykjavik in September. If not, we will suck it up, and go somewhere else next time. I will not be saying "never again with Princess" for something outside their control. 😑
  13. "SMiZE Cream" is becoming available on all ships. It doesn't qualify as an "included" Premium Dessert for those with Plus or Premier packages. You will still have to buy it just like us in bilge class. πŸ˜‹ Has anyone had it? Is it any good? What is the "edible surprise" buried in the product? Life’s Sweetest Reward! SMiZE Cream, New Super-Premium Ice Cream Created by Iconic Supermodel Tyra Banks Soon Available Fleetwide on Princess Cruises - Princess Cruises
  14. What a disappointment for the passengers onboard. I will be headed there in September. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to us! 😧
  15. Is Reykjavik still possible for tomorrow?
  16. I just signed into my account and could not locate this offer. My current cruise already includes $600 in OBC. Maybe this is why the offer hasn't been extended? I'm actually looking at booking another cruise and this would be welcome.
  17. Alaska is turning out to be a bust for this summer. Months ago, I tried to book a RCCL cruise for myself and my twin grandsons. The price was over $10,000 for 3 in a standard balcony cabin. Now the same ship/cabin is under $2,000, but we've made other plans. If it wasn't for the nonrefundable deposits, I would book 4 cabins right now, going to Israel and Egypt. We fully intend to go, but unforeseen events can happen between now and then. If the nonrefundable deposit was $100 pp I would "risk" it, but not at $450 pp.
  18. Right now, Celebrity is offering the "Spring into Summer" sale. It ends today, and we are not ready to book yet for an April 2024 cruise since the deposit is no longer refundable. My questions are: Does Celebrity offer regular sales like this? Is this an exceptional sale or normal? Are there certain times of the year when prices are discounted? Black Friday? Christmas? New Year? I'm new to Celebrity, having sailed with Princess, RCCL, NCL, and Carnival in the past. Thanks for your advice!
  19. Celebrity Cruise Line now has non-refundable deposits and a high fee to make it refundable (like air tickets). The non-refundable deposits are $900 per cabin. I've read about people paying the refundable fee then cancelling later and switching to non-refundable at the last minute. I would be afraid that the fare and air tix would have risen. Perhaps Princess is following the lead and switching to non-refundable?πŸ€‘
  20. How funny! I didn't even consider that until now and red is the only flashing color. It was during the day though. If I left it on at night, I might have attracted some "customers" LOL! πŸ€‘
  21. At the Venetian in Las Vegas, I set my flashlight on flashing red and pointed it outward, since the windows are reflective glass. It worked. Now I've gotten pretty good at counting over from the lifeboats or other markers to find my cabin. I've already located it in ship pictures for my September cruise to Iceland.
  22. I agree about the balconies. They are nearly the same size as Premium balconies and seem to be better protected from wind and rain. Since we are going to Iceland, this seems like a good idea. We are fairly close to the lifeboats, but not obstructed.
  23. Greetings: I originally posted this in the Island Princess roll calls. Oops! We are booked in Aft Balcony Cabins on the Emerald Deck (8) near the elevators. The ship is mostly full, and these seemed to be our best choices. My question is: Will there be excessive engine vibration/noise in this area? If so, is it just during docking, or all of the time? Thanks to all of you CC advisors! 😘
