  1. B Devil Cruiser: The Majestic Princess has a large area at the front of the ship called The Hollywood Conservatory which is free to use and replaces the Sanctuary. It includes a covered pool, bar, cabanas, and windows looking forward and to the sides of the ship. It is located on the Sun deck #17 at the front of the ship. Perhaps give it a try?
  2. I've often wondered why Princess doesn't designate one dining room for all of the people who like to dress up?
  3. We had both Diet Coke and Diet Sprite on the Island Princess in September. I have also seen those two mentioned on threads about various Princess ships. I appreciate the Diet Sprite since I don't want caffeine in the evening.
  4. Can we book a dining room table with just deposits on a cruise, or do we have to wait until final payment has been made? (Cruise is Sept. 2024.) We will occupy 3 Mini suites and wish to dine together.
  5. We've cruised Carnival, RCL, Princess, and NCL. Princess is the runaway winner for us. A combination of good prices, service, food, accommodations, and fellow cruisers. 🙂 Next up is an Alaska cruise on the Majestic Princess with two of my grandsons and 3 friends.
  6. I agree. On our Iceland cruise, they didn't have a single item with "Iceland" on it. According to a clerk, they had them earlier in the season, but didn't restock.
  7. In September we went on a 14-day cruise to England, Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland aboard the Island Princess. Initially the single supplement was 200%, then dropped to 106%. Each cabin also came with $600 OBC. We ended up booking 4 cabins for the 4 of us and came out ahead of the price for sharing since we each got $600 in OBC. Adding $250 pp for shareholder credit, $850 each! I walked away from about $75 at the end of the cruise.
  8. We were on the Island two months ago. Our cabins had metal walls except for the wall that backs up to the closet. That wall looked the same, but my guess is that it is made of particleboard. We used magnetic J-hooks on the other walls and the doors. 🛳️
  9. Since Majestic doesn't have a pizza counter on the Lido Deck, is it possible to get pizza on the ship without paying a premium? (Besides "heat lamp pizza" at the buffet.) We booked mini suites under the "Standard" fare without upgrade packages. I have read that Alfredos now carries a $15 upcharge and pizza delivery entails a fee. TIA!
  10. Ironic that the 3rd and 4th persons sharing my mini suite would be charged a $100 deposit when they are traveling "free" in my cabin. 😡
  11. When I clicked on the $100 deposit button, the terms and conditions did not specify this. I am sure it is intentional to give you the illusion that you will only be investing $100. In truth, that would only apply to a solo traveler. What percentage of Princess cruisers are singles?
  12. Fill a wine bottle with liquor and take it onboard with you. No one has ever checked mine. In many places you can walk on board with whatever you choose.
  13. LOL! That reminds me of a joke about a group of women who met up every 10 years for dinner. For the first few decades they chose the same restaurant for it's good drinks, then hot waiters, then good food, then senior specials. Finally at age 80, they chose it again because "none of them had ever been there before". 🤣
  14. I booked an Alaska cruise yesterday and was charged a $400 deposit. I assumed it must be $100 per person as we have 2 grandkids going along. They are actually "free" in the cabin with me just paying the port fees and taxes for them ($300 each). I read the fine print repeatedly and could never determine whether the special offer was per person or per booking. Anyone know? TIA!
  15. I booked an Alaska cruise yesterday and the deposit was $400. I assumed it was because 4 of us will be in the mini suite. Is the deposit supposed to be $100 per booking or $100 per person?
  16. As I get older, I find that I can reread a book from 20-40 years ago, and almost like reading a new book. Sometimes I only recognize a few thi9ngs as I re-read. 🤪 With C.J. Box, the characters can be a bit too transparent. The "bad" people like Joe's MIL are excessively evil, as are some of the law enforcement people with whom he has to work.
  17. In September, we went to England, Ireland, Iceland and Scotland on the Island Princess. When we booked they were offering $600 in OBC per cabin and no single supplement. We realized that it if we each booked a balcony cabin, we would each get $600, instead of sharing that amount. Between that, and $200 each for Carnival stock we had $800 per person to spend on board. I actually walked away with $75 unspent. no room for more stuff in my suitcase, and no chance to convert it in the casino. They had Pub Lunches in the MDR a couple of times and popup Alfredo's held in Sabatinis.
  18. I know we can each bring one bottle with us at the start. On my last several cruises, we were able to bring additional bottles aboard at various ports with no charge or confiscation. If anyone has PERSONAL experience with this, please give me a heads up. Thanks! BTW: No need for moralizing and we don't drink enough to buy a liquor package. I did read that Princess has introduced a wine-only package on some sailings.
  19. I watched this video and hope it's true. OTH, I am in my 42nd year as a high school teacher and virtually NEVER see a kid reading for pleasure. They are virtually all on phones. I have noticed that the ever-increasing homeless population uses the libraries for internet. 🤔
  20. I agree. I have always enjoyed reading but it's tough getting the younger generation to read anything. They are always on their phones watching Tik Toks and other short-attention-span "crack". I have read most of the Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box, and all of the books by Daniel Silva, as well as many others. Yesterday, six of us booked an Alaska cruise for September. Can't wait! 🙃
  21. We visited England, Ireland, Iceland, and Scotland on the Island Princess in September. I was amazed at the large, well-stocked library on that ship. Perhaps because it does the world cruises? I read several new fiction stories during sea days.
  22. The aft cabins on Deck 8 have been there all along. Compare old Island photos with new ones for proof. The new rooms were added on upper decks, aft. Decks 12 and 14 have wider hallways, aft, and the cabins have rectangular showers, I've been told. We are in Deck 8 aft, balcony cabins currently, in Iceland. Creaking sounds when traveling fast, otherwise pretty quiet. I was concerned about vibration, but it hasn't been a problem. Interestingly, the Deck 14 aft cabins were the last to sell. No one seemed to want them. The worst thing for me is the worn-out mattresses. Each twin has a trench in the middle from 100s of former occupants. When joined to make a queen, there is a steel frame in between the two joined twins. I am awake right now (2-5 am.) because of a backache. Our excellent cabin steward, Dmytro (Dmy) has tried padding solutions which have helped some, but you can't fix a worn-out mattress. I asked if they have any newer ones in storage but was told "no".
  23. How about on the Island Princess? Free or not?
