  1. Unless embarkation port is important, I would choose to do Alaska on a smaller ship: Coral/Sapphire/Grand or GEM class ship. Not sure if the Royal is leaving from Vancouver. But if it is, she will have to do an outside passage and departure is dependent on tides. Plus she has less outside viewing areas.
  2. Just hope that Princess doesn't raise the rate between now and then. My experience with excursions...Not on sale pre-cruise but cost rises as you get closer to cruise date. Cost of Plus/Premier added to insurance can be costly. Usually...Princess announces rate increase and there is a mass purchase pre-cruise. I've done that.

    Port of Honolulu

They is a lot to see within “walking” distance. How good a walker are you? Mission Houses Kawaiaha’o Church City Hall will have a Christmas festival (Honolulu City Light/free) Iolani Palace State Capitol State Library State Archives Chinatown (be alert to your surroundings) Foster Botanical Gardens
  4. It is very simple to travel with a CPAP. There is always an outlet near the bed (often hidden behind/under). I use an adapter. Most medical devices are dual voltage. I also have a multi-function outlet that I can plug 2 prong AND usb connectors. I do understand the need for an update. My sister took over the desk plug for her: rechargeable hearing aids, phone, computer, headphones, and others. I took the plug behind the television. Good thing it was not attached to the wall (yay for older ships). 5. The casino will be open after sail away from most ports. It takes a couple of days (1.5) to get from the mouth of the St. Lawrence to Quebec. Probably will be closed when you enter AND while overnighting. Be sure to check your voyage itinerary and cash out while casino is still open. Sometimes there is a sign posting hours.
  6. Not requesting anything out of the ordinary. A salad with avocado or beans. Modify existing menu options, not creating new menu items. Work with the supplies they have onboard.
  7. I traveled with a vegetarian. At first, there were the same complaints: Not enough of a choice. Recently, they do have a new rotating separate vegetarian menu. I have been educated: there are few nutrients in a salad. It is what is done to it that will make all the difference in the world. Given a great/terrific MDR Assistant Manager, you can modify meals to be more balanced with protein and stuff. Go with a list of items you would like to see in your meals. Let them know what you don't want. Talk to the Assistant Manager to work up meals that are to your liking.
  8. This is my travel log for the repositioning cruise FLL to Quebec. I did not do a sort of live from Quebec back to FLL. I did spend 2 nights/2 full day in Montreal before catching the train (business class) at noon to Quebec. Yes....no organized line for taxi's. It was a free for all war zone in front of the train station. If you are an early riser, I would recommend the earlier train. @Ken the cruiser did an excellent live from Quebec back to FLL in the fall. Maybe he will chime in and add his link.
  9. They are no direct flights from Quebec to the United States after the ship docks. Every flight requires a layover in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, and maybe one more? I had a one hour connection in Montreal. Running through US immigration and TSA, I was the last one on the plane. In my case, there were only 2 flights to Montreal. (Long story about why I couldn’t get on 3 pm flight or other city). In St. John, there are container shops right at the pier. Head way back to the sound stage. Great lobster roll (as recommended by locals in the terminal).
  10. As I mentioned, I would have a plan B….just in case Princess says your flight is too early. Are you booking this pre cruise or when you get onboard? @azbirdmom Did Princess ask you for your flight information when assigning disembarkation tags?
  11. You didn't include the cabin number with the spent tray outside the door. Yes, the Walmart is very convenient for crew to go to. I know other passengers who made the run too. Love the market place at the dock. Just on the other side of the marina is a turtle sanctuary. Don't remember exactly where, but manned by volunteers and free (when in season).
  12. Newport offers a free shuttle bus during the summer (but I don't think the Boston voyage will stop in Newport). You can take it to the mansions. Drop off...walk the cliff walk back to the next stop for return.
  13. The only advice I have for you is to book a flight into/out of Montreal, stay overnight, and take a train to Quebec. So much easier than flying and stressing out of Quebec Airport. My cruises were both repositioning to/from FLL to Quebec (July and October). Late October and we were a little late for Canada leaves. Some nice views on the way back down the coast. Did a couple of nice "free" walks in Montreal and Quebec. Do a Google search.
  14. @Abd213 You are not alone. I have (and had) many issues with the website; one being trouble connecting. Some of it was my fault (internet provider); some is Princess. Your travel agent should be able to fix your birthdate and deal with all of your other woes. I agree, once you are onboard, you will have a good cruise.
  15. Almost always, excursions booked online are cheaper. About a week or 2 out, rates rise about 10%. Some passengers wait until nearer to sail date before cancelling. On the other hand, I wasn't able to even get on a wait list. To my advantage...it was expensive and I decided I didn't really want to do it after all.
  16. You must have a very active roll call. I did too...counted over 150. By the time we met, only about 75 showed up. Granted, we had a time change that messed up a few passengers.
  17. This is the adapter I have for my CPAP and table lamp. I tried to get a link, but couldn’t do it this morning. Just google item.
  18. The European plugs throughout all of Princess’ fleet is 240 (or 220/but not 110). You will need an adapter if you are planning on using them. Most medical equipment (CPAP) will have built in converters. All Apple products are dual voltage. I’m counting on others to provide photos and links. The one I travel with has an European plug to go into the wall plus one outlet for European plug and one outlet for US plug. This allows me to plug in my CPAP and bed lamp. i was told by housekeeping supervisor that, if, your device has a brick on the power cord…it is usually dual voltage. Best to check your equipment.
  19. I will cut Princess some slack....this time. Cruise Critic was also "temporarily unavailable". California has had some very extreme weather the past few days. Up to 12 inches of rain in some places. Flooding, mudslides, power outages, snow, wind, rain, tornados, but no earthquakes this time.
  20. I know it is not the same, but when I asked (onboard) if I could use EZ luggage at PE, I was told there are no exceptions. I pleaded my case that Delta had changed my flight that made it 10 minutes earlier than required time. No go. And you know how close FLL is from the cruise port. I also know that when I was checking EZ AIr from LHR, that it defaulted from anytime to after 2 pm. Good Luck.
  21. And that is where Princess fails. They could "gain" $20 a day from the person that upgrades...but have the mindset that passenger would "share" (and probably some would). But if you think outside the box....if one had Premier and used the reserve seat...what would happen to their cruise mate? Or if Premier passenger wanted to partake in specialty dining, wouldn't they pay for the mate to join them? And other like scenarios.
  22. No, both passengers in the same cabin have to have the same Plus or Premier.
  23. Yes, but you will kick off the other person without any warning to them. Easy to switch devices.
  24. I had my TA purchase the transfer from Southampton to LHR. Then I (she) cancelled it when I booked a Southampton/Stonehenge/LHR on excursions. Finally cancelled that one (received refund) and booked a private car service to drive by Stonehenge, stop at some small town (Salisbury??) before drop off at LHR for slightly more than Princess.
  25. Buying Plus or Premier on board IS cheaper. You aren’t adding it to your insurance cost (8%). You do run the risk of the rate going up between now and cruising.
