  1. The only way I know is to ask people who are booked to look up prices for you.
  2. Just to be anal - Costa is owned by Carnival Corp, a mostly American company (there’s a portion of the legal structure that is British, but that’s mostly a technically.) But yes, onboard account is settled in euros.
  3. That's a bummer. I probably wouldn’t have ordered the package; I just love the word brindiamo. “A toast.” And one of the most famous opera songs of all time. I start humming whenever I see the word brindiamo.
  4. Unpopular opinion. It’s a dead body. Worm food. If it were me, toss me in the ocean. So I guess fish food, not worm food.
  5. Be sure to factor airfare into your decision. I found a cruise that looked perfect out of Barbados… only to have it price out of my budget when I realized flights were twice the price of flying to San Juan and 3x the cost of flying to Florida.
  6. Honesty, it all my years I’ve never had a bad port.
  7. If I had that kind of money I’d rather buy an exotic pet. Like a llama or an emu.
  8. I suspect it’s also about keeping out invasive species
  9. I’m trying to figure out how a guy completes the one time at band camp story. I’m visioning the flute and…. We’ll let’s just put that thought aside. Have a great trip.
  10. I’d love to hand out different kinds of cans, but the cruise line won’t let me bring them on board.
  11. My work laptop could be used as a heating device, and has a fan, but is 100% kosher. Rules are weird.
  12. Jeans are frowned upon in the pool. But are fine in the dining venues.
  13. I can see loving Nassau. It’s obviously not a crowd favorite, but many great choices if you know what to look for. But Ensenada???? You gotta explain this one 🙂
  14. I would take two rooms in a heartbeat over either suite
  15. Lucca. Wonderful old Italian city, much closer to port than Florence. And for what it’s worth, I had a great time in Monaco.
  16. This may sound crazy, but DCL can be a good option for people who don’t necessarily want to be around kids. They go out of their way to have kid free spaces and activities, and they enforce the rules.
  17. I’m a big Disney fan. Own the timeshare to prove it. Had a great DCL cruise, but didn’t find it any more special than RCI and other mainstream lines. Certainly nothing that justifies the price difference.
  18. They can mix the ingredients, but they won’t have the right cup. And without the right cup, is it really a mint julep?
  19. I try to have a positive attitude and not sweat the small stuff, but I can’t help but find something (usually minor) negative on every cruise.
  20. Speaking just for myself, Meclizine works wonders keeping me from feeling seasick, even in the roughest of seas. I’d rather take medication and not have to worry, rather than trying to plan a cruise or pick a cabin hoping to minimize movement.
  21. Sometimes you are just pissed off and want to complain. No, it probably won’t do any good. But when things aren’t right, you want to say (or write) something rather than just grin and take it.
  22. If I’m alive, I picture myself thinking that 79 degrees is a bit too chilly to venture out. I’ll just sit on my balcony wrapped in a blanket.
