    Oh good. When we were in Norway we went in a shop that had lots of souvenirs. Except for some Norwegian sea salt which I bought everything else was made in China. I was looking for "made in Norway."

    Oh, yes, you need to come see my tree. One ornament is a glass evil eye from Turkey. Things from all over the world that may not have begun life as ornaments 🙂 Even have our entrance 'things' from the Master Golf Tournament about 30 years ago. Kindred spirits.

    We had a mom and her cub right by our jeep. I understand that people have different goals but we saw pretty much all animals the entire time and it was perfect. Here's what was by our bed after we took a nap and left the window open 🙂

    Sure glad that our three years of no travel and continuing to use our Chase Sapphire Reserve gave us RT J class to Amsterdam, return Stockholm. Whew.

    LOL. I ate grilled rat some years ago in Thailand. Overcooked and dried out 🙂 But not picky! Those people wouldn't even try it.

    In the trip insurance board I read about someone who booked their air through NCL. It turned into one missed flight after another and evidently the fine print said that NCL wasn't responsible for any flight issues. I didn't see this myself but....

    Did you share this nightmare recently? Keep doing it. We've never let a cruise line or an escorted land tour company book our flights. And knowing this I never will. Thank you lots.

    Great comments here...except 🙂 I'd prefer a word other than "fussy." Don't even like "picky" although both can describe certain people. I'm really kinda 'into food'. Love to cook at home and go out. I've almost never returned a dish - except an overcooked egg 🙂 - but I have a good bit of history to compare lots of dishes to. I wonder what I'll think of their lasagna 🙂

    Not a cruise but have you been to Kenya and Tanzania? You will see animals --- ALL the animals --- ALL DAY LONG. We went some years ago and it was incredible.

    Great story. We used to have an apartment in Rio. I developed a very specialized Portuguese vocabulary, I.e., double electrical outlet, ceiling fan 🙂 It makes a difference, doesn't it? Plus it's respectful. Good for you.

    I'm in my 70s now and have been dealing with ESL-friends since high school with Cuban refugees. And all the rest of the time. I speak slowly and use simple sentences. I apologize that I'm not doing it better. And then say "did you understand me?" And they will usually repeat it back to you. Works for me anyway.

    Oh right. For those of you who aren't flying in - ahead of time - it's totally different. Our beginning and ending ports are part of our trip usually. So we're in ahead of time and on embarkation day we can leave our bags at the hotel and pick them up after lunch. But seeing where you live, you're not lacking for good lunches 🙂
