  1. Looks like the Gem is getting close. IDK where the RC ship is
  2. Our power was out for 7 days and we are 15 miles west of Philly lol. Whole house generators are the best
  3. As of 3:55pm (Bermuda) they are getting hammered with rain and 50mph over the entire island If nothing else the cisterns will be full
  4. Looks like 75% of the island is without power
  5. I'm thinking Sunday will be a sea day, I think the Joy will be OK. Really depends on damage etc...
  6. Just curious if the Gem is still headed to Bermuda today?
  7. Are you going to have surgery in the next 30 days? If not and you can't get a refund personally I would fit thru the pain. I had my right hip replaced in 2016. When the decision was made it was three months out, then it was delayed another two months. I got around pretty good still for those 5 months. Look into PT prior to any surgery
  8. We took the stairs up, I didn't even see signs for the elevators. Getting off their were at least 2, maybe 3. The Haven / Suite waiting room is tiny. nothing more than curtains around an area. We were checked in by 10:15 and walking on the ship at 10:40. Our non suite friends boarded at 11:05. Boston didn't seem to have the made rush of people wanting to be first on the ship. Then again the terminal is half the size of on NYC. Boarding from the waiting area we actually walked down the ramp not up like in NYC
  9. Hey Jim Hope you have a great time. The Boston cruise terminal was pretty nice, it was our first time sailing out of Boston. When we went in June the terminal did not open until 10:00. We arrived around 9:00am and the porters were standing by to take luggage. The only thing that was a pain in the ass was security (scanners). It was the only port I had to take out my laptop and camera gear, every other time they just scanned my backpack and that was it. I even had to take off my iWatch Lol
  10. I can't imagine Septa or anyone else doing special busses for a cruise. Your talking about something happening once a week. My guess is maybe 10% of the cruises would use public transportation. Sure I can get to work via Septa but it would take a bus, to a train, to another bus and yet another bus
  11. Did a 14 and a 12 day. On both cruises by the second day temps were in the 70's. Both cruises had three sea days coming back. On the 14 day it was a miserable three days. High winds and high seas for 72 hours. All outside decks were closed for 2.5 days. Pools were drained outside and in the thermal spa. The last day I'll never forget the amount of salty ice built up on the balcony railings, must have been .25 inch thick
  12. Yup... Two best shows I have seen in 13 years of cruising
  13. You will need tickets way ahead of time. My wife and I are going again to Paris the end of September for a week. You can book tickets 60 days out, they sell out very fast. My wife did ours to the hour and still couldn't get the time we wanted... but close enough
  14. The terminal is in the Navy Yard area, lots of businesses there. SEPTA has a bus line I believe that runs there
  15. That time of year sea temps will dictate the temps, heck even in June they will. We left Boston on June 28th on the Gem. It was a gorgeous 82F. Sailaway was nice for about 30 minutes, then the sea temps of (50f) kicked in and it was pretty cool on deck
  16. Behind the scenes of NCL...... Your upgrade specialist
  17. Similar situation with my wife's parents and mine. Is a funeral planned for your mother? I only asked because both my wife's parents and mine were / going to be cremated and have a small service at a later date. For the last 8 years travel and vacation have been a little iffy. We finally decided that everything was in place and if someone died while we were away their was nothing we could do and we would continue on with our plans. Sounds cold but thats life. My FIL was diagnosed with terminal cancer, they gave him 3-4 months. He lived another 3 years. My point is they are going to pass and the timing might not be great. Just try to have plans in place when they do and go and enjoy your life. I don't know if you can join the cruise mid way thru. Go on the cruise and enjoy yourself, if she passes they can hold her until you get back.
  18. My wife and I just did a sailing to Bermuda on the Gem. The Jewel class ships are nice, however you have to go with some different expectations. They are smaller, don't have all the bells and whistles the newer bigger ships have. We were a bit disappointed in the shows in the theater. They were ok, nothing great about them. I love the thermal spa on the Gem. You really might want to get passes for it
  19. Thats strange about your coffee being bad. I don't drink coffee my wife is a coffee snob. French press delivered every morning at 6:00am. It was always hot, tasted great and tasted the same
  20. Why call and negotiate? If you are past final payment cancel the booking, get your refund and do another booking with what you want
  21. Up until 8 years ago my wife and I could fly to Vegas from PHL, Stay at the Bellagio for 5 nights in a fountain view room.... Flights, Hotel and a 5 day car rental would cost us $1500-$1750. Now its $4200-$4800
  22. LNG is the latest thing for cruise ships, probably one of the cleanest burning fuels. My company has a large solar array to help offset our electric. It's pretty large at 375MG and still only supplies about 75% of our electric use. 11 years ago it cost 780K, just last month with finally broke even on it
