  1. My wife and I met a couple on the Escape in 2018 who were from NYC. They lived a half dozen blocks away from the cruise terminal. They saw cabins were available the night before our cruise, packed their bags and arrived at the terminal at 9am and got a balcony cabin. They would do this a few times a years. I didn't realize you could buy a cabin at the pier, maybe they were just yanking my chain
  2. From Windy.... looks like you have 4-6ft rolling waves with a sea temp of 78f
  3. Hudson Bagel...... close to the pier On 9th Ave between W 47th and W 48th
  4. Activities? It's Bermuda...... the beaches are fantastic, that's all you need. If the beach doesn't interest you you can go to H20 https://www.h2osportsbermuda.com and rent a boat or kayaks. Lots of little islands to explore close to the rental

  6. For anyone who has done this cruise this year feel free to chime in as to what time the cruise Terminal opened up on departure day. We like arriving early but I don't want to stand around outside. I've seen its been 10am, maybe earlier? In NYC its always 9am
  7. Thankfully in my art department we never had to wear suits or ties. Usually I'm here with jeans, a t-shirt or maybe slacks and a button up
  8. Do you remember what time is was for Haven / Suites? We are in a suite and don't want to get there too early only to stand around outside Thanks
  9. Wow, so they were not allowing people into the cruise terminal until 10am?
  10. Thank you, unfortunately we leave at 5:00pm so we will miss them. I thinking if we are close enough to land we might see them from Ogunquit
  11. Thank you, we did a 14 on the BA and a 12 on the GA. I miss those cruises
  12. Is The Gem Still A Gem? Almost live.... sort of, maybe live, will see...... 6-28-2024 sailing Thought I would get this rolling along. 16 days out from our Gem sailing to Bermuda from Boston. This is our 4th time sailing on the Gem, first time sailing out of Boston. It would be a lot more convenient sailing out of NYC since we are less than 2 hours from the pier but we really wanted to sail on a Jewel class ship. When I booked last October? we were supposed to stop in Bar Harbor which we love, it was going to be the 4th of July in Bar Harbor. However 6-7 weeks ago that changed when the town announced they would be using the tender pier as a place to launch fireworks. So we are going to Portland. I would prefer to stay in Bermuda for an extra day but thats not feasible. Will be driving up on Thursday from the Philly Burbs and having dinner with my son's fiancés parents who live outside of Boston. Bright and early Friday morning will drive to the port where I reserved a parking spot very close to the ship. We are sailing with friends from Montreal, this will be our 3rd cruise with them. They are in a mini suite on deck 10 and we are in a forward suite on the same deck. I'm excited for them since they have never been to Bermuda, we have been there 4 times in the past. Our plans.... do very little. Like I said we are in a forward suite, I also got Thermal Spa Passes just in case the weather isn't great. Day 1 and 2 in Bermuda will be spent on the beach, day three will be spent on a rental boat. I suggested to our friends for the first day take a 5-6 hour private tour of the island which they are doing. They will come to the beach with us and also on the boat. Not sure how live it will be but I will be taking photos of the dailies in case anyone wants to see them, I'll most likely upload them after the cruise I plan to do a video tour of our cabin and the spa since good ones are few and far between. I hope to have lots of underwater footage along with some aerial footage. If anyone is looking for anything in particular let me know and I will try to get it I've read great and lousy reviews on the Gem, cutbacks on service and food. It will be interesting to see what is what.
  13. This! Our 14th NCL cruise is coming up in 16 days. Haven't cruised since January 2023 and that was a 12 day on the Getaway where we had a great time. I'm really curious to see what has changed, what is worse what is better. I've read a slew of reviews on the Gem, some horrible some great.
  14. Current sea temps are about 77, use the Windy App https://www.windy.com/-Menu/menu?sst,31.885,-65.138,8 Hopefully when we arrive in three weeks it will be 80 or better
  15. Wondering if taxies are available at 7am on port days?
  16. Nice review, we are leaving on the 28th. What time did easy walk off start? Sorry to hear about husbands phone, was it lost / stolen at the beach?
  17. You have to remember I'm on the Gem not the Joy. I also remember our first cruise on the Gem when the Thermal Spa was $79 for a week Lol
  18. I confused you sorry, when I said small area I meant the size of the Haven and Suite check in area at the pier in Boston, not the size of the Haven on the ship On our cruise the cheapest Haven cabin was almost twice the price of the suite we have. Been in the Haven on the Escape and GA and really like them
  19. Thanks! We are in a forward suite, not Haven but that's OK since the Gem doesn't have a dedicated Haven restaurant. Never cruised out of Boston but I have heard the Haven / Suite area is very small?
  20. Will be on her in three weeks. I hope she looked good they just did a refurbishment about two years ago. How was the food and shows? I've heard the shows are lacking
