  1. Don't you know that if you leave your balcony door open it affects your AC plus the AC in the cabins around you? That's why the little plaque near the door says to always keep it closed.
  2. We drink it from the cabin tap; no pitcher needed.
  3. Well. I see we have a terminology misunderstanding! I am referring to the little bags of potato chips such as Lays/Utz/Pringles, that are now being rationed. French fries (British chips) are still made and served on the ships.
  4. Interesting thought. How do you suppose they would then be served/dispensed? RC used to put out little boxes of cereal. Several varieties are now available via clear plastic dispensers, instead. It's believed this came about after people were seen filling duffel bags with the little cereal boxes, to take home (aargh...)
  5. We did roundtrip from San Diego around ten years ago, which would have put us in our late 60s. We sailed on a smaller ship, Celebrity Century. We don't recall the seas being especially rough at all, although that is, of course, always possible. We enjoyed the sea days even more than the ports! Cost-wise, I suspect doing a one-way cruise and then flying back (or there) would cost considerably more overall than flying west for a round trip.
  6. As I recall, the late show was at 9:30, so it was not a problem getting there after 7:45 dinner, even though we always like a long, leisurely dinner.
  7. Do you consider potato chips an important part of a meal? I've been amused by the amount of recent discussion around the cutbacks on the bags of potato chips on RC. Apparently too many people were taking so many that they would run out early in the day. Now they are either with room service only, or by request with a limit of two bags per person. Many comments indicate that a sandwich without a bag of chips is not to be tolerated. Do you need them on a cruise?
  8. There is also usually a few Mexican items in the buffet (taco chips, salsa, guacamole, cheeses, etc.)
  9. What ship? On Enchantment, the two shows are timed to fit with the traditional dining times; in fact, with late seating (7:45) we could go to the early or the late show.
  10. "On a par with" is different from "clone of", right? I agree that MSC is on a par with the others, but is definitely not a clone! And for us, the differences are what make MSC special.
  11. To answer the question in the title: some ships have had enhanced ventilation systems installed during recent drydocks. One I am familiar with appears to be along the lines of what my dentist had to install in order to reopen during the lockdown. The downside is that, at least to me, it feels cold all the time. And I see a lot more people bundled up while inside on the ship.
  12. I'm hoping the Saint John resident, who has been very helpful here in the past, will post here with some further information. She was the one who alerted us to the Container Village. For us, Saint John is miles more appealing than Bar Harbor. We've been there, done that. The last two times we sailed to BH we stayed on the ship for the day.
  13. Radio, I remember your excellent live posts from Enchantment of the Seas a number of months ago, so I'm especially looking forward to this one. We plan to do some repeat cruises on Seaside, and we, too, have been Bella cruisers with a very good cabin. Wishing you a wonderful cruise!
  14. For us, 49 cruises so far, and no sickness during or after. Over the years, a couple of days of "I'm just tired, I'm going to sleep all day", and one case of a slightly sprained ankle. And we are in the high-risk over-70 category.
  15. Have you been to Halifax more than once? Have you spent a day near the port rather than going out of town? There are so many nice things to see and do right there at the port; I wonder if you will be missing a good day there by going elsewhere.

  17. I've never noticed it on a ship. I do enjoy it at home, in hot weather. On a cruise I'm frequently chilly, so probably wouldn't go looking for it.
  18. Agreed, and I have read that one should speak to staff at the door upon arrival at the terminal, so they are aware of your needs. I believe you will be directed to a separate waiting area, and taken to the lower entrance when crew are available to take you.
  19. I eat an Indian dish, in WJ, at most breakfasts and lunches (along with other items), and sometimes at MDR dinner. However, the reason DH and I never eat in a specialty restaurant is because the menu is specialized. He eats red meat, I do not. Same with some seafood, etc. MDR always has things that both of us can enjoy. We both like Indian food, but it's very unlikely we would do a specialty restaurant to have a meal of it. Variety is the spice of cruising.
  20. I wonder if they will notice when people stop accepting the new ones. I don't plan on acquiring any more, if they are only the color ones.
  21. We have done the April TAs three times. In all three, the seas were mostly calm and the sky sunny, but most of the time it felt quite chilly out on deck, due to the wind created by the movement of the ship. I frequently wore three light layers out on deck. In the Med, we had everything from warm and sunny to chilly and damp.
  22. What cruiseline/ship? What itinerary, and what departure port? In many ports, an excursion is not needed at all; easy to DIY. Welcome to Cruise Critic! I hope you will find it helpful for all your cruising.
  23. I don't interpret it to mean insurance is required, just encouraged. Are you sailing from a US port? We do not purchase travel insurance either, and have never needed anything in our 49 cruises.
  24. Or you can take the local bus there and back. Just be sure to be at the bus stop in more than enough time to get back to the ship, as a lot of people will be waiting for the last one, and you might not get on.
