  1. We've never been on an Alaska cruise so I can only reference within our experience, but very recently, we asked our steward to please leave the "extra" comforter out so that we can use it for naps without totally disrupting the bed. I'm sure she thought she was helping, but rather than honoring our request, she put the comforter away (underneath the bed, where it came from) and left 2 blankets for our use. We just used the blankets and let it slide...but we really prefer a nap beneath that awesome comforter !! Without knowing the true answer, I would say, do not bother with bringing blankets from home.
  2. LOL Not a mistake for me. I'm hoping someone DOES go and snatch it up so I won't have to worry about it anymore !
  3. I'm not entirely sure as I have not yet called. This is a casino comp for us so you never really know how much those are going to cost to upgrade. Just going strictly by the online pricing (which is never exactly accurate for casino pricing) it would be $789 PP...but I'm guessing slightly less than that with the casino magic pricing. That's really kind of a lot more for 4 nights. Frankly, I'm surprised that this stateroom is still available. It is one of the most sough-after rooms on the ship ! It's been showing available for almost 2 weeks now. I keep hoping that someone will snatch it up and take the decision out of my hands !! LOL You reasoning is sound though....priority check-in, bigger room, bigger bathroom, double points...all worthy of consideration. The only negative is the longer walk aft, but I already have that one to deal with so it's a wash. If this were a 5-nighter I would probably do it. ...just wavering still for a 4-nighter.
  4. @SunsetsNSmiles, I am having the exact same debate with myself !! We are currently booked in 8168 and considering upgrading to 1100. I'm not sure it's worth the extra money to upgrade for us since this is only a 4 night cruise. 8168 also has an extended balcony, although not nearly as big as 1100. I really like that the bed is next to the slider in 8168. I really love the extra space in the JS but I'm not sure it's worth it for us. When are you sailing ? We are on 7-6-23.
  5. Casino bookings take a while to process. They must go through a reconciliation process to accurately reflect the pricing. It can sometimes take a day or more before the booking actually gets published. Have you tried the “add a booking” (or whatever it says) to you list of current cruises ? If it seems to add your booking but then the booking still doesn’t appear in your “list” - don’t worry. Just give it time. It will show up eventually.
  6. Nice score ! Sounds like that category was a big success ! We are doing great. Just got off Vision. On Mariner 5-26. Our love to all 3 of you !
  7. Allure sails from PC on 7-12-24, then her next sailing is 7-16-24 from PoM
  8. Oh, we HAVE to organize a cabin crawl ! I really want to see all of these room types. We’re in an Icon Loft so I can have the Genie help. I used to do this all the time when we sailed in Star Class but it’s a lot of work and I haven’t done one in a few years. It will be fun !
  9. Does anyone currently have one of these Sky JS (Category JY) booked ? Does anyone know OF ANYone who has one of these booked ? I looked on the TA website for the entire first year of Icon's sailings and then randomly checked about 20 other sailings and not ONE of these suites is available to book. I cannot believe that there isn't even 1 JY available on ANY sailing anywhere. My guess is that they are not yet booking these suites. Why ? Who knows.
  10. If anything, I see it going the other way. I wouldn't be surprised if the JS are soon forbidden from dining in the CK at all.
  11. @dleahy4444, as with all things, it is about being reasonable. Many times, as a Star Class passenger, I have hosted others in my suite both for food and drinks. It is not an unreasonable request and should be honored by your Genie so long as you do not go overboard. Should you expect to do it every night ? No. Once, during a 7 night cruise, I would think it would be reasonable to host 3-4 others for dinner. If you make it out to be a "big deal" then your Genie will think it's a big deal. If you just matter-of-fact-ly let the Genie know that you will be hosting a couple of people for an evening, then it will be low key for everyone. There are a couple of rules that have been in affect for as long as SC has been a "thing". (1) You can only have room service from 1 specialty restaurant at a time. So, if you are getting food from Chop's for dinner, everyone's orders will need to come from the Chop's menu, for that meal. (2) You must get your room service delivery during normal operating hours. So, if you want a midnight lobster from Chops, you're out of luck. Just ask for room service during the restaurant's normal operating hours and you'll be fine. (3) Water, soda, juices and beer are complimentary for suite delivery. There are limited situations where liquor can be delivered but for the most part, if you want liquor or wine delivered, it's going to cost you extra. That makes no sense....I completely understand that....since you can get any drink you want (for the most part) at any bar, it makes no sense that you would have to pay for wine and liquor deliveries, but that's the way it works. You CAN have fully-prepared mixed drinks delivered (mimosa, bloody mary, etc.) but bottles of liquor, no - with a few exceptions of liquors that are available to anyone who wants to pay the outrageous cost that they charge ! Your Genie should (and almost certainly, will) handle all of this for you. As I said above, be reasonable and keep it all low key. The same goes for having reserved seating for yourself and others at the entertainment venues. A couple of extra people ? No problem. I have never been denied this request. 6, 8, 10 others ? Oh yeah...that will be a problem. Another one of the unwritten rules - your Genie will never respond in writing or over the phone with an answer that contradicts the official policy. So, if you write to your Genie before you board and ask them to please reserve seats for your non-SC family members, your Genie will almost certainly quote the rule that SC service is only available for SC passengers. That's a CYA thing. Wait until you are in personal direct contact with your Genie before discussing anything that may "bend" the rules. I've never known a Genie to say "no" to a reasonable request. Be respectful to them and they will be respectful in return ! Enjoy the ATS. We have had them many times. They are absolutely unique.
  12. Found this same scenario for our August WN sailing. So pathetic.
  13. Breakfast in one of the specialty restaurants (on ships with no CK) is probably my favorite suites perk.
  14. The only prepaid item that would be included in Sky Class would be a VOOM pkg - so you can definitely cancel that. Just go to the Cruise Planner and cancel it online. Sky Class does not include specialty dining or beverage pkgs…so presumably you would want to keep those unless you intend on dining exclusively in the Coastal Kitchen, in which case you may choose to cancel the specialty dining. Personally, I’m not that fond of the CK so I would probably keep my specialty dining options but that’s a personal choice. While you can get water, soda, beer and wine in the Suites lounge from 11-11, it’s not particularly convenient to run back up there every time you want a drink, but I guess you could consider cancelling drink pkgs…. Enjoy your suite !
  15. Yippee ! I recall that there were weddings bells chiming somewhere…didn’t realize it was so soon ! I know you’re relieved to have that over.
  16. Thanks ! Who knew there was even a comments section ? 😂
  17. I have done this in the past but not sure they will allow it these days. They seem to be adding so many restrictions lately. My concern would be that they would charge you a cancellation fee (even though you’re not actually cancelling) for a rebooking….but I could be wrong. If you try it, let us know what happened.
  18. How great to see you online, Lynn ! Dan’s WN booking is for August 20th (8-20-23) (I think). I asked him if he was sure he wanted to go to the Caribbean in AUGUST but he said he did…so that’s what we’re doing, I guess. I may sneak around behind him and check on upgrading. Just not sure I can do an inside room….but this is his comp so I probably should leave it alone. Ugh. We will also be on WN 2-2-25 but that’s a LONG way off.
  19. Yes. I did it a few days ago and in 1 way I regret it and in another, I’m very fortunate that I did it. Pro: Dan wanted to sail on Wonder in August. If I had not booked using the online tool, chances are good that there would have been no rooms available by the time I got around to calling. Con: It works very much like a GTY. There is no way (online) to choose a cabin so they assign you one, much like a GTY reservation. It seems that all of the comp level rooms are now gone, so we are stuck with the truly crappy location that we got. Dan has no interest in upgrading his booking, so it is what it is. Take it or leave it. They assign you a room, send you a confirmation and then give you 3 days to pay whatever you owe. We left on a cruise the day after I booked his comp so we were (are) onboard. We went to NextCruise where the gentleman gave us a phone number to call (via the ships phone) so that we could pay the balance and not lose the booking. I will not use this method again. I’m glad Dan got the sailing he wanted but I did not care for the process and won’t use it again.
  20. Booked both of ours yesterday. Dan wanted Wonder in August. I booked Mariner in October. Now only June remains as the only month that we do not have at least 1 cruise booked.
