  1. How often are the CD's changed? We had Dan Dan on the Gem in July 2014, and we'll be on the Breakaway next June. Do you think he will still be there? My kids loved him!

Cruise Director's schedules are 4 months on a ship and 2 months off.

Usually they serve one ship for 3 or 4 years and then are moved to another. It is a little like being in the military. With the newest ship the Escape now on line, schedules for a lot of staff have changed a bit. Very hard to say who is where right now.

  2. There are several ships where the muster drills are held outside under your assigned lifeboat. The location of your cabin will decide your Muster Drill location. There will be a sign on the back of your cabin door (like in hotels) giving the location of where your Muster Drill location is and there should be signage near the lobby given the location of Muster Drill stations. Muster Drill information is also given in the Freestyle Daily you receive on the first day of your cruise. YOU are required to attend but you do not need to bring your life jacket.

  3. Do comments submitted via the online post-cruise survey make it back to the ship? We purposely mentioned a couple maitre-ds (head/assistant) from a main dining rm that went out of their way to assist with a group celebration.

Comments received on the "Vacation Hero" cards and comments from the survey to make it back to the individual ships.

Staff is allowed to hand you their name tags, so that you can spell the name and get the job title correct, but that is as far as they are supposed to go.

Comments received either by the survey or the cards help to determine the Employee of the Month, and possible promotions.

  4. I was on The Getaway for Thanksgiving last year, total different experience. There were Thanksgiving decorations everywhere. I had a turkey dinner in one of the main dining rooms complete with green bean casserole. I had more than enough food to eat. Best Thanksgiving I have had in a number of years.

  5. Please be aware, that Norwegian has just christened a brand new cruise ship yesterday. It has about 2100 staff members pulled from every other ship in the system.

By the time you cruise, you will a wonderful time. The Jewel is a great ship and a wonderful staff. I am heading to LA to board Her for the 2nd time in 9 months.

  6. None of the specialty restaurants are open for lunch. One of the MDR is on Sea Days.

There is NO need to make reservations for dinner in the MDR's.

    I always prepay the DSC.

From what I am hearing even on The Escape- internet speed is very very slow.

    Welcome Aboard

When you do decide to book, find the Roll Call for your cruise and join the conversation.

  7. Sullivan, you may well be right. I was hoping to try and resolve the issue before beating down the door of the COO and the CEO, but that maybe the way to go.

    Nope, not my first cruise.

I'll have my review/story up soon it will have all the details.

    Thanks

I would write to Guest Relations for now.

Until after the 21st of November, both Mr. Del Rio and Mr. Stuart are very busy with the Christening and the Inaugural Events for the newest Norwegian ship The Escape. It would be shortly before thanksgiving or later before they could deal with your issue.

  8. That's right. Ever since the Hudson River was converted to an active aircraft runway several years ago.

Who was the baseball player who was killed in a private plane accident flying along the Hudson River and into someone's apartment?

I thought that was when then closed the airspace over the river.
