How often are the CD's changed? We had Dan Dan on the Gem in July 2014, and we'll be on the Breakaway next June. Do you think he will still be there? My kids loved him!
Cruise Director's schedules are 4 months on a ship and 2 months off.
Usually they serve one ship for 3 or 4 years and then are moved to another. It is a little like being in the military. With the newest ship the Escape now on line, schedules for a lot of staff have changed a bit. Very hard to say who is where right now.

There are several ships where the muster drills are held outside under your assigned lifeboat. The location of your cabin will decide your Muster Drill location. There will be a sign on the back of your cabin door (like in hotels) giving the location of where your Muster Drill location is and there should be signage near the lobby given the location of Muster Drill stations. Muster Drill information is also given in the Freestyle Daily you receive on the first day of your cruise. YOU are required to attend but you do not need to bring your life jacket.

There should be a packet of information on your bed when arrive in your cabin with all the information you will need including a coupon that acts as your Tender Ticket.

Packed up by housekeeping, send to your home address they have on record. I think it is send at your expense.

Do comments submitted via the online post-cruise survey make it back to the ship? We purposely mentioned a couple maitre-ds (head/assistant) from a main dining rm that went out of their way to assist with a group celebration.
Comments received on the "Vacation Hero" cards and comments from the survey to make it back to the individual ships.
Staff is allowed to hand you their name tags, so that you can spell the name and get the job title correct, but that is as far as they are supposed to go.
Comments received either by the survey or the cards help to determine the Employee of the Month, and possible promotions.

I was on The Getaway for Thanksgiving last year, total different experience. There were Thanksgiving decorations everywhere. I had a turkey dinner in one of the main dining rooms complete with green bean casserole. I had more than enough food to eat. Best Thanksgiving I have had in a number of years.

Welcome Back
Did any of the staff stand out to you?

Please be aware, that Norwegian has just christened a brand new cruise ship yesterday. It has about 2100 staff members pulled from every other ship in the system.
By the time you cruise, you will a wonderful time. The Jewel is a great ship and a wonderful staff. I am heading to LA to board Her for the 2nd time in 9 months.

There really is not a "Formal Night" anymore. You can dress up or not any night you want.
When do you plan sail?

None of the specialty restaurants are open for lunch. One of the MDR is on Sea Days.
There is NO need to make reservations for dinner in the MDR's.
I always prepay the DSC.
From what I am hearing even on The Escape- internet speed is very very slow.
Welcome Aboard
When you do decide to book, find the Roll Call for your cruise and join the conversation.

She is due in Miami at 1 A.M. tomorrow morning.

Sullivan, you may well be right. I was hoping to try and resolve the issue before beating down the door of the COO and the CEO, but that maybe the way to go.
Nope, not my first cruise.
I'll have my review/story up soon it will have all the details.
Thanks
I would write to Guest Relations for now.
Until after the 21st of November, both Mr. Del Rio and Mr. Stuart are very busy with the Christening and the Inaugural Events for the newest Norwegian ship The Escape. It would be shortly before thanksgiving or later before they could deal with your issue.

I get really good results using:

In the News section of CC, the is a story about the new Children's Program. It soulds extremely interesting.

Getaway doe not sail this itinerary until the 15th of November.
-
Can you post who the staff is at some point and in particular who is the Assistant Cruise Director and Casino Manager, please?
-
The Dawn out of New Orleans and The Jade out of Galveston do the same itinerary. The Port of New Orleans is just a few blocks from downtown New Orleans and The French Quarter.
I would opt for The Dawn and New Orleans. I have done this cruise 4 times now and would love to do it again.

Do you still have to sign up or is everyone on the roll call automatically included? The reason for asking is, with all the NCL cruises we have been on, signing up has not been a problem, but now I do not see a place to sign up.
You sign up through your Roll Call. Not everyone on a Roll Call will attend a Meet Greet however.

Wow!!! Thank you for posting this.
Doe you have a way of providing a link or give more specific information on how to find the article?

Blazers are not required. Depending on the restaurant, a collar on a man's shirt might be. Nice pants, blouse or light weight sweater for ladies is fine. Jeans and tee shirts are fine for the buffet.
Have fun.

In over 25 Norwegian cruises, I have become friends with both staff members and passengers.
Some of us still communicate on a regular basis. I have been able to cruise more than once with those I have met on a previous cruise.

That's right. Ever since the Hudson River was converted to an active aircraft runway several years ago.
Who was the baseball player who was killed in a private plane accident flying along the Hudson River and into someone's apartment?
I thought that was when then closed the airspace over the river.
Gem's 10am arrival tomorrow in New York

Depends on the weather conditions, but I would guess they will arrive at about 8 A.M. Once the ship is cleared by the local officials disembarkation can begin. Hard to say how long it will take for the ship to be cleared. Embarkation usually begins between 11:00 A.M. and 11:30 A.M.
