  1. Or possibly more problematic, if your decorations and your door had reversed polarity, your decorations would go flying across the hall. 😂😂
  2. Are they doing things in there again? We spent two weeks on Spirit last fall and they they had one single activity. It was set up as the Park West gallery a lot of the time. I was bummed because I really wanted to try it out.
  3. I’m so excited to follow your trip report! I really enjoyed following your Europe report.
  4. No friends or kids that you might like to have join you? Do you have a PVP? This might be a good time to call and ask for one. Either way, enjoy your cruises! I’ve done two solo cruises and loved them.
  5. I’m thinking of doing that for ranch dressing 😂
  6. Thank you all so much for the answers. They have flown several times so while it always causes my son a bit of anxiety, they both know what to do. The dog is just more at home in his crate even though the door isn’t locked so he can get out and do his job if needed. So we will bite the bullet and pay the $90. It’s worth it. I don’t think he’ll need an entire extra bag for supplies so I’m sure we will be fine. I may have an order from Chewy with his food delivered to our hotel. I have already filled out the forms that Sun Country needs so we are good to go with that. Always have a copy of his rabies vaccine records so that’s done too. I appreciate the info on Mexico too. Great idea to have it in case of any emergency. I’ll be sure to share info about our experience when we return!
  7. Same with the 18-21 year old events they “hosted” for a time. My daughter looked closely for events everyday. Nothing. We ended up asking the cruise director and she said no one had come the first night so they cancelled them for the rest of the week. How dumb is that?
  8. Serenity deck on a port day might be my favorite thing ever. Looks like a nice cruise so far.
  9. I’ve posted here and there on this thread and read consistently, I’ve convinced my son that his SD will do great on a cruise so we booked one for December. We are excited. It goes to Key West and Cozumel but he doesn’t want to get off the ship. I have all the info on paperwork etc but I’m not sure if we have to do the Mexico stuff if he isn’t getting off. Another question I have is with our airline. They have flown several times so that’s fine but for trips where we have brought his crate, we flew Delta and they checked it for free as medical equipment. Now we are flying Sun Country and they are charging us. I have read several places that they can’t charge for it, but I cannot find the actual law. These same articles have said you can also bring an extra bag with the things the dog needs for no charge. Can anyone help me verify this? I’d like to print out the actual law in case we get push back. I really appreciate this thread. I have learned so much from all of you.
  10. I love how detailed you are. We only use Enterprise to rent cars anymore. The others are just too much hassle. Good tip about the fast lane charges! Looking forward to reading more.
  11. Looking for Friday Dec 8th for one night. I’d like to be near a Red Bus/hop on hop off stop—within a couple of blocks. We need three separate beds, one can be a couch or roll away. I’m traveling with my sons ages 22 and 23. They are both approx 6’5” and really can’t share a bed. And one sharing a bed with me would be weird. Trying not to spend more than around $350. I’ve been on Expedia for what feels like weeks and my brain hurts.
  12. Usually, if there is a connecting door inside the cabins, the balcony doors don’t open in between. That’s what we have been told. Because of where the doors to the balcony are and where the divider swings when it is open, it will block one of the doors.
  13. This is such a fun start! Great attitude to have when sailing during hurricane season!
  14. How many days and may I ask the date? Thanks.
  15. Please feel free to add Spirit from the second through the third week of October to your list of atrocious service. We were on that ship for a very long 14 days. The MDR was a joke.
  16. Please do your muster drill first. It’s fast and easy and the sooner they can stop telling people to go over the PA system, the better for everyone. Then get a Guy’s burger or Blue Iguana tacos and a drink of choice.
  17. Very pretty ship with a nice layout. The only thing I don’t like is the location of the Alchemy bar even though I love the ocean plaza area that is right there. Lots of outdoor seating options especially on deck 5 so be sure to explore there. Guy’s BBQ will be open on boarding day so check that out (also on deck 5). Not many realize it’s open so there is rarely a line.
  18. Speaking of desserts, they have a banana split on the children’s menu that is quite yummy and not too big. I find it a nice end to my meal. They also have a fruit cup on that menu that you can order as a dessert or an appetizer.
  19. It was late, I wasn’t clear. Rate code meaning they have a better price if we book under their name. We usually book under my name.
  20. I knew everything else would still apply. I was just wondering about being able to do online check in two days early and use priority at the port. I’ve always booked under my name first in the past. Thanks for the info.
  21. My boys and I are going on a cruise. Currently, one of them has a better rate code than I do. I’m Platinum, they aren’t. Will my perks like 2 day early check in and priority boarding still apply?
  22. Great itinerary! I’m enjoying the short commentary with pics.
  23. If you want ice, you’ll need to ask your room steward. (They’ll do their best to meet you on the first day.) They’re happy to bring it to you but won’t unless you ask. If you drink and like a bit of adventure, go to the alchemy bar and ask the bartender to make you one of their own specialty drinks. They all have different styles and you can say things like “not too sweet and no tequila.” If your itinerary goes to Catalina and you want to get off, you will need to get a number for the water shuttle. They will have that info as far as where to get it on the app and in the paper planner the night before if you get one. Breakfast room service is free. You can get coffee, tea, pastries and….a few other things delivered to your room by as I recall 10:30. After that there is a per item charge. Your cabin won’t be ready until 1:30 so it’s nice to drop your main bag with the porters and carry a backpack or similar to hold valuables, medication, etc and maybe a bathing suit. The winery tour in Ensenada is great. Have fun!
