Oh that completely seals the no for me. I am very heat sensitive due to a health issue. To me the A/C made a huge difference. It enabled me to stay on the island all day. For the current price, I would either stay on the ship or go over, swim for an hour and go back to the ship. Currently, I’m just not booking itineraries that stop there.

I am laughing way too hard at this. Oh no! And reading further, I can’t believe they brought her back to the ship in a wheelchair. That must have been terribly painful. Poor lady. THIS is why I have never done anything in a ship port that has a possibility of me crashing. It WILL happen. Megan saw one of those movies on her flight!😳

I’m creating gift bags for my cruising newbies. Like literally, I’ve sewn them all a crossbody small bag to carry things like a kindle, bottle of water, towel clips etc around the ship. Once I leave my cabin, I prefer not to go back for a good long time. In their bags, I’m including reusable straws, towel clips, a lanyard and a luggage tag. Oh, and these cute folding fans that twist up into a little circle. I use mine ALL the time and it’s better that a battery operated hand held one imo.

I would shop at the port and then have a taxi driver take you to Alberto’s. It is in the general area of the beach clubs, just south of the Occidental but is quiet and more of a local’s place. They don’t have a lot of beach chairs and you are pretty much expected to get some food or drinks to use their area. But the view is gorgeous and it’s definitely very chill.

Agreed. I’ve been doing mock bookings for me, my husband and our two boys in two cabins. For the second cabin, the pricing once I enter their VIFP numbers, is exactly the same as mine. I’ve been pricing a lot of cruises and I never have a better price. ETA I’m the only one that is platinum. They are gold and red.

The upcharge for what looks like a tiny serving is raising my eyebrows.

Caught up before boarding day! Looking forward to following along. Going to Maya Chan in Feb. Been to Costa Maya once. Wasn’t impressed. The water is very shallow and ugly and the vendors bring a new meaning to the word persistent.

In addition to contacting special needs as Blerk suggested above, would it work to tell him to find someone with a badge if he gets lost? Or someone who looks like a mom? That’s often the suggestion to tell children in case you get separated. Not trying to be insensitive.

My last cruise was on a Carnival ship with my son. I had requested the beds separated but they weren’t at first. I was by myself when I saw the steward the first time and asked him about it. He said, “Okay. You and husband want beds apart?” I said, no. Me and my 21 year old son wanted beds apart. He said, “Oh yes. Son not sleep with mommy.” 😂😂😂

We sailed on Viking Serenade in 1998. My oldest and only at that time was two and adored our waiter. It didn’t hurt that he brought her Mac and cheese and chocolate milk every night! Lol. We had a cabin as far forward and as low as you could get and WOW was that anchor loud in Catalina! I do not miss those days. We did a Disney cruise out of Port Canaveral with a 2 year old and special needs 3 year old. Everyone including the toddlers had to wear their life jackets and since they were so little, we had to hold them or they would have been trampled. It was so crowded and so hot that my six year old who was the BEST traveler from the day she was born ended up scared and crying. Truly awful start to the cruise!

Oh goodness! There’s a lot going on with this cruise. So sad.

Thank you once again for sharing your trip with all of us. I’m the one who mentioned being at Mayo with my friend last week. She’s getting some possible answers and I was able to share many of your funny comments with her. I now got her into the habit that each of us were saying a Wildra style prayer at bedtime. But then we’d start giggling and have to start over.

Is the family crew all explained in your Horizon review? Just curious because I’m confused as to who all is on this cruise. 🥴😂 I could never do a live because I’d get too distracted to report so I am impressed even with a day or partial day late! Appreciate all the details!

You will have a dedicated waiter and sometimes a specific assistant. You pay the main one cash for your tip before you leave. Both times I have been there I had great service and tipped $20 per person. But that’s what felt right to me. I seriously doubt that I ate or drank $100 worth but they were very helpful and fun to chat to. They found me wherever I was, including in the pool and brought my drink directly to me. Since one of those times I was traveling alone, I sincerely appreciated that.

I am so excited that I finally figured out that this was a NEW review from you! And the timing is perfect. I’m at the Mayo Clinic this week with a friend whi is having a bunch of testing done. This is just what I needed for distraction and entertainment.

Any idea when they will announce the CD? I’m hoping for Cookie. He’s my favorite and I know he likes sailing out of Texas.

Well, I figure if I like them, I’m not starting from scratch. Or do you still need to get the same number of days starting from zero to move up to the next level from their status match from Platinum on Carnival? (Does that question make sense? I can’t figure out how else to word it.)

I don’t feel like I’m super picky and I like most of those songs but wouldn’t care for that playlist in what is supposed to be an elevated dining experience.
