  1. In April while on the Edge, DH & I took an "excursion" titled EDGE Exposed: Art, Architecture & Design Tour. We registered in advance in the Excursions section of our Cruise Planner. It was a narrated walk around the common areas of the ship with the guide pointing out and sharing information about the art, the architecture and the design of the ship. We started and ended at the Excursions Desk area. We understood that the participants were supposed to be given a copy of the book about the ship art, but unfortunately, that didn't happen. We still thought it was worthwhile as we are architecture/design geeks.
  2. Yes - and consider making something solid like a paper weight or a heart. DH made a beautiful Wave Vase on Eclipse which we then carried with us for the next 8 days as we toured Ireland after our TA as we were afraid it would break if in our luggage that was handled by the bus driver. And when we won a Ruffled Bowl in the raffle (back in the good old days before Hollywood Hot Glass took over), we hand carried it on the plane home. Enjoy!
  3. jg51, Since this thread is a Live from a cruise that ended several weeks ago and specific individuals are not replying to your inquiries, you may get a better response to your excellent questions if you start a fresh thread.
  4. All of these shoes are described as flip flops. I doubt any female wearing a pair of these or similar shoes would be turned away. The cheap rubber shoes with the toe thong from the dollar store are also flip flops. Personally, I believe it is the latter that are not allowed. Your opinion may differ.
  5. Were you among the lucky folks on the helipad for sail-away?
  6. Hope you and your sister have a wonderful cruise. Since you are in a Sky Suite that is connecting to a Penthouse Suite, seems you would have a top-notch PRH/Butler. For your sake, I hope he just got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, as nothing you requested is unusual. Maybe write your requests on paper, call and ask him to come to your stateroom after you sail, then give him the paper and go over the requests again. If no action after that, talk to the Retreat Manager.
  7. Stunning gown. One would never know you are one suitcase down from your regular allotment! You and JamieLogical have caused me to rethink my cruise wardrobe and shift from denim capris with knit tops to sun dresses and flowing slacks with linen shirts. Has been so much fun to follow along - eagerly awaiting the report from the Beyond in November! Kay
  8. Hi - hope you enjoy your first cruise on Celebrity. I just looked through the Celebrity Today daily planner for a cruise we did in March. Didn't find any references to a Spa Raffle. If I recall correctly, the raffle draws a really large crowd in the gym, something probably not wanted these days. There were some specials offered on port days. And on a Sea Day there was a Complimentary Women's Wellness Party. Description: Fun and interactive ladies only spa event. All attendees receive a complimentary eye, face, and neck skin treatment. Reservations only - space limited. Guaranteed it will come with a hard push to purchase whatever product they are using.
  9. Yes - any cabin name that ends in suite is quite a bit more than any standard veranda. 😄 From the Celebrity website: Aqua Sky Suite debuts on Celebrity Beyond in April 2022 and will be introduced across the rest of our fleet in April 2023.
  10. Welcome to cruising with Celebrity. Apex does not have a Signature Suite - Reflection does. Are you in a Sky Suite on Apex?
  11. Exactly. Many lovely areas around the terminal - just not inside the terminal.
  12. Hooray!! So glad you arrived safely, if not underfed. Look forward to sharing your adventures, vicariously.
  13. Hi - don't know if you've ever sailed from Boston before, but Black Falcon Cruise Terminal is not a place where you want to hang out for an extended period of time waiting for your turn to board. My suggestion would be to do some extra sightseeing in Boston and arrive at the terminal at your designated time. (Former Boston resident)
  14. Hi - I compiled this info before our cruise on Edge - assume it will be the same for Apex. Unfortunately, don't recall the source/s, as I did a lot of research before our cruise. All 4 of the MDR menus have the “Celebrity Classics”, which are the always available items and remain the same every night in all the dining rooms. There are 3 portions to the menu in each of the 4 MDRs; 2 sections are the same in all 4 restaurants The 3rd section is the dishes “Exclusive “ to that restaurant. The “Exclusives” include 3 starters, 3 entrees and 1 dessert per dining room. They remain the same every night. Each menu has the “Celebrity Signature” items for starters, entrees and desserts. This section is the same THAT night in all the dining rooms and changes every night. All 4 MDRs share a galley, so items on any menu can be ordered in any dining room. Cosmopolitan: Walk through Wine display – Formal look - Traditional Cyprus: Greek influence – Seafood Normandie: Ties to Murano – Modern upscale space - Springtime in Paris – Regional European wines & unique cocktails Tuscan: Modern classic design - Italian fashion and film décor – Homemade pastas with rustic flair P.S. I'm right there with you on CDO!
  15. Deck 5 Aft just before the Boutique Shop and entrance to Eden.
  16. Thank you viperfoth and jelayne for the distinctions between "the basics" and going above and beyond. Very helpful!
  17. And if they still offer the longer excursion with a catamaran sailing back to the ship after the train trip, it is even better!
  18. We were in the same situation with a lot of NR OBC and did this tour in March on the Edge. We really enjoyed it, but we are architecture/design geeks. It's a narrated walk around the common areas with the guide pointing out and sharing information about the art, the architecture and the design of the ship. We don't remember ending in the Mark West Gallery area, and are pretty sure we were taken back to the Excursions Desk area. Maybe it depends on the tour guide - ours was very new.
  19. Oh, that stinks (no pun intended). Since your cruise wardrobe and your everyday wardrobe don't overlap a lot, can you just do the essentials and leave the rest till you feel better? Hope the worst is behind you. Is your husband still negative?
  20. Definitely not a traditional Promenade deck. Does not wrap around entire deck. Outside smoking area is on Deck 5 - I think Port side.
  21. I don't know if it is sad that we have nothing better to do on a Friday night than watch a ship outrun a storm and return early, or if it shows that we are caring, compassionate people who want to make certain everyone gets back to Port Everglades safely! 😄
  22. Could it be that when the passenger loads were lower, this was more easily accomplished? As passenger counts ramp back up toward 100%, is it still feasible to send someone to the MDR kitchens for a special order dish?
