  1. As a member of SAG-AFTRA, I can tell you that we regard this as a fight to the death, and I do not see it being settled until December.
  2. Years ago, I tried to use an American 110v electric shaver in Athens with a converter. It literally blew up in my hand and set fire to the shower curtain in the bathroom. While waiting for the paramedics to take me to the hospital, I learned the Greek word for "idiot." After that, I bought appliances in Europe for use there.
  3. You can prearrange a taxi, also, using the Curb or Arro apps.
  4. On our first trip to Vancouver in 2009, I had booked one of those places (you know the one; it's at 403 East Hastings Street) and took your advice, cancelled the reservation, and booked something else. Later, out of morbid curiosity, I looked at the property in question and was horrified at the neighborhood (and I live two blocks from Times Square in Manhattan).
  5. I was in Baltimore for several days last month (July 2023) at the Hilton Inner Harbor and found the city very, very scary after dark. There was a car jacking in the Hilton garage the night I left with two people injured. Be vigilant.
  6. There is no beach in Coconut Grove, either. You are arriving at the height of the tourist season, so everything is going to be expensive.
  7. Also look at Trivago. In July I saved a lot of money in Baltimore by comparing prices on that site and then booking through another site (Agoda) they pointed me to.
  8. Also look at The Pod (42nd and 9th) and The Yotel (10th between 41 & 42).
  9. I've been to Pisa, Lucca, and Florence. Skip Pisa, see Florence. Or if you have to see Pisa, skip Florence and see Lucca. (You will hate yourself for skipping Florence)
  10. Of course they do (at least in Manhattan) since most are located in multi-story parking garages.
  11. Among other things, there is no right turn on red in NYC.
  12. I suspect the cruises are safe (unless we see another Klinghoffer tragedy) but getting off and touring...don't know.
  13. Me, either, and I've had the HAL Barclays card for several years. I don't know where that $500 a year fee came from.
  14. It's difficult in some parts of the U.S., also; I closed my Discover card because of this.
  15. First, you didn't find any tickets for Euros because GB doesn't use Euros but Pounds. Second, Paddington is not near your hotel.
  16. Many years ago my wife and I spent a day and a night in Dover after crossing the Channel on a ferry and found it well worth the time. Exploring the castle took most of the day, and the next day we moved on to Canterbury and then London.
  17. Authentic? At night? In the Globe? "I do not think that word means what you think it means."
  18. Bolt Buses went out of business in 2021. It was a subsidiary of Greyhouind.
  19. This is from their website: The ship has 2 doctors, 1 dentist and a fully equipped "on-board hospital" ready for any emergency! On VCL ships, the passengers are long-term residents and live their lives here, so we have set up a much better equipped medical centre with a professional medical team to ensure that everything is at the disposal of the residents in case of need. Our medical centres are equipped with 5 beds in case a patient needs to be under medical supervision for a few days. The medical centre is equipped with ECG, EEG, X-ray, ultrasound, defibrillator, etc. All the necessary equipment is available for minor outpatient operations. The medical centre is on call 24 hours a day. On board, 2 doctors and 3 nurses take turns to attend to patients. We also have a small pharmacy where patients can be supplied with essential medicines. If you need a continuous supply of medicines, please consult your pharmacist before departure to ensure you do not run out of the medicines you need. As we are supplied with essential medicines, you will need to bring any special medicines on board with you. The health centre also has a dental clinic. If necessary, we can provide all outpatient treatment, as our dental department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
  20. It works like that with AMTRAK in the U.S. also.
  21. CLOSE THE CURTAINS AT NIGHT or be prepared to have voyeurs laugh at you.
  22. The website says no rooms are available until November 6.
