  1. Is he planning to play with his own money?
  2. He will be seasick. He will (probably) not die.
  3. When I lived in Southern California, a 4.0 was hardly noticeable....
  4. It's a lovely hotel, but the location...well, you either love it or you hate it. As for Trieste, it's a long way from Venice---two hours or so by bus;
  5. Take it. Things can change, and you never know when or where you may need it.
  6. There is always room to compromise over money. When it comes to AI, we see no way to compromise.
  7. All I can tell you is that in 1987 I was stopped by the Carabinieri; it was not a pleasant experience.
  8. There are several hotels in Venice proper that don't require crossing bridges. I've been to Murano, Burano, and Torcello. Do not do what you are planning,
  9. If you really want to see Venice, that's a terrible place to stay,
  10. It will be cold, but there generally isn't snow then (but we could have a blizzard--you never know). There is a fixed taxi rate from JFK to Manhattan (around $70, I think, plus tolls and tip). Can't help with your third question (hotel to Brooklyn Cruise Terminal).
  11. Lucky Star did not get "shaken down" but fined. There is a difference.
  12. If you bought it at the right time, yes; mine is UP nearly 77% since my purchase.
  13. Well, that's the Germans for you. At the time, I still spoke fairly fluent German (thanks to the US Army), and I finally said. "Gee, I know! Why don't you deport us? Look! There's a big plane waiting to fly to NYC!" They were not amused....
  14. Many years ago, my wife and I flew into Frankfurt, and the immigration officer's stamp was so low on ink that my entry stamp was almost unreadable. Several weeks later, no one could find it before we flew out, and we were denied boarding until they (and I) finally found the very, very faint entry stamp. I think the new system is much preferable.
  15. The OP (Goldrusher) seems to not understand private enterprise.
  16. Whoever told you that is lying to you.
  17. A curling iron may work with a converter without any problems. What I discovered after my mishap is that there is a difference between the U.S. and Europe not only in voltage but also in CPS (now called HZ) that can affect electric motors--in my case, badly. Someone with more electrical knowledge can probably explain it,
  18. Turkish Lira. While they will (sometimes) take US Dollars or Euros, they regard Canadian currency as useless.
  19. Last minute can be a problem. I was ab;e to book a single NYC-Nassau 7-day RT on MSC last month for $309; right now, it's much higher.
  20. There is a thing in Hamilton during part of the summer; nothing at the Dockyards, I think.
