  1. "Austin added that the company now needs help to tell this story." I.e., the story that everything is great and there is no need to change.
  2. Most of the people who have been reacting negatively to your ideas were active in this community when the harpist was eliminated and complained about it. This is the sort of background music, and the venue, where it would be appreciated. But it isn't coming back because the harpist was a one-trick pony and therefore too expensive for the benefit.
  3. It was AMA (back in 2013) that I was referring to. Yes, this is all cruise lines and has been the case for a long time. [Where I got caught out recently was with Silversea, which actually meant it when they showed people in formal wear! Thankfully they have recently relaxed a bit – but still way more formal than any river cruise line!]
  4. Right, but now RCL costs $127, down from a recent high of $131 – that wipes out the benefit from 4 trips. Plus, Silversea is the only RCG line I would consider and that is probably not going to continue after the two I have booked. CCL meanwhile only costs $14, so you could pay that back with Seabourn cruises in even a Boomer lifetime. And a recent WSJ article thought CCL is undervalued while RCL is fully valued. But, just as I have my TA give me their rebate in cash rather than OBC, I only buy stocks that pay dividends so I get the benefit every year whether I use their products or not.

  6. Seems like a much smaller benefit with Silversea fares. Percetagewise it's a rounding error.
  7. Same here. I was famous for my carefully selected neckties (mostly Liberty of London). My son wouldn't think of wearing anything that flashy.
  8. My experience with Allianz is that policies can be rolled forward. I've even done it to completely different trips, so there should be no problem moving it to a re-booking of the same itinerary. [Unless it was purchased through the cruise line, which may affect the T&C]
  9. Those were models, not passengers. [This was the advice I got from my travel agent before my first river cruise, and she was right!]
  10. I can still tie my own tie (I think...) but tying someone else's is a completely different (mirror image) thing. I could never be a dentist either...
  11. When was the last time a harpist was on board? This is not a recent cut...
  12. More details in this new article: Windstar’s Prelog: New Ships Bring Opportunities, New Features The helideck is set to be converted into additional guest space: “It will be replaced with two big owner’s suites and balcony cabins as well,” [Prelog] explained, adding that Windstar is also changing the general arrangement of the pool decks on the vessels. With the addition of the new cabins, the ship’s current capacity is expected to increase by approximately 30 percent, reaching 224 guests. Andrew N. Todd, President & CEO of Xanterra, added: "We hope that it’s the kick off for beginning of what we planned to add additional ships and sail to destinations and locations that we’ve been wanting to go.” [giving me hope that Windstar will buy more ships in this class as Atlas keeps cranking them out]
  13. Explora Journeys: Creating a Unique Cruise Brand Bottom line: they think they are doing great, have no plans to change
  14. I'd be grumpy too, because they are not the same thing at all. Black coffee is brewed to the proper intensity – Americano is an espresso (strong and bitter) that has been watered down.
  15. Doesn't come close to undoing the March price increase on my 2025 cruise.
  16. Going from 1-1-1 to 1-2-1 is hardly a luxury improvement!
  17. Not one of the new ones [the ice-strengthened hull would really be wasted there] – but they will be positioning one sailing ship (Wind Star) plus one yacht (Star Breeze) full-time in French Polynesia. https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/shipbuilding-equipment/windstar-cruises-acquiring-two-mystic-invest-ships-one-newbuild
  18. It can't have been worse than the San Francisco Symphony in the late '60s when I was out there. The lead French Horn player ran his own 'clam' bar... Thanks for the picture – that is an amazing opera house in the middle of the jungle! I hope the itinerary exceeds your modest expectations. And that Silver Wind isn't as bad as my recent experience on Whisper (and other recent reports) would forecast. At least my itinerary delivered, so I hope the same for you.
  19. I'm surprised they don't know how to spell Grease. Haven't they seen the movie??? 🤣
  20. And yet the myth goes on that this was an improvement that Azamara should copy!
  21. Because you seem to bring a mass market cruise line sensibility, which IMHO is wrong for Azamara. And I'm fully entitled to my opinion too.
  22. Except those whose luggage was already at the airline limit!!! [Been there, done that – left the book behind...]
