  1. To me it is how high do you set your food expectations. I have read some reviews that describe the food as gourmet, delicious and other superlative adjectives. Frankly, the food is average. Chicken breast are over cooked, MDR steaks are poor cuts of meat, lobsters are small and rubbery, etc… I set my food expectations low. I enjoy cruising but I do not cruise to overeat. The specialty restaurants are not that special. I have had the BBQ on the ship and most land based BBQ restaurants are far better. I will admit, I have never eaten at the steakhouse. However, individuals on CC have stated it is more like Outback than Ruth’s Chris or Morton’s. The service in the MDR helps to make up for the food. I will continue to cruise on Carnival, the food is not bad. I have read reviews that indicted the food was not edible. After reading these reviews I have immediately searched the news for articles of people starving on cruise ships. I am still searching…
  2. It is hotel banquet food. Generally ok but served slightly cool. Baked potatoes will not melt butter. I enjoy cruising but the food is only ok at best. Restaurants in my home town are better. Lobster is generally over cooked and rubbery (cheap lobster).
  3. I took a Halloween cruise and the sky ride was open on sea days. There was never a line of more than a few people. They did seem to have limited hours. It may have been due to lack of interest. My daughter (34) and I (67) rode and were not impressed.
  4. I am on the Elation 9 days after they introduce the new menu. I hope that is enough time to perfect the preparation and service (probably not).
  5. I have noticed on the sea day brunch many individuals wait until they are at the door to use the app to reserve for breakfast. As a result, there is is a large backup in a very small area. With so many trying to book at the same time, I think it puts a strain on the apps capability to respond timely. Many times the elevators open and there is no room for the people to exit.
  6. I went to Aruba for 5 days in May. We went fishing one day (1/2 day) and the pirate boat with drinks and snorkel. The wind blows constantly. On both excursions the boats stayed close to shore because of the rough water due to the wind. We only caught 4 fish on the trip. The Pirate boat remained close to the shore due to wind and rough water. I had difficulty snorkeling with the waves. I did swing on the ship swing and that was fun. The food was ok (chicken). The hotel beach was great. Beer is expensive and many times they only have 7.5 oz bottles. Find a place with draft and you will probably get a 10 oz cup. Beach bars usually have 2 to 3 happy hours a day. Something like 12-2, 4-6 and 7-9. I did go to Aruba in Oct 2022 on the Horizon (Halloween cruise). It was a blast. I did a walking tour of the downtown area that was interesting with a lot of historical information. Also took a $5 city bus tour that went from downtown to the beach near the lighthouse and returned downtown. Not a bad ride for $5 a person. You get one stop and can get back on for $5 total.
  7. Sailed out of Port Canaveral in Feb 2023 with no issues. Used self check leaving the ship. Hopped on my bus next to the ship and was in my car in less than 20 minutes and on the road.
  8. 9. I have been on over 20 Carnival cruises and never found a sugar free dessert I would describe as “good”. Overall, Carnival desserts are generally disappointing. They look very good to the eye, but fall short on taste. There are a few exceptions, but you have to go through a lot of bad desserts to find the good ones.
  10. Elation was my first cruise from Mobile in May 2011. Going on her again for a 5day Halloween cruise on October 30th.
  11. I like the Guy burger but limit my self to one on a cruise usually without a bun for health reasons.
  12. I mix the Lido Deck coffee half and half with water and a little cream. It is stronger and more bitter than I am use to. I am a wimp, I like my caffeine weak.

  14. Music in the higher end restaurant should be background music in my opinion. I am there for the dining experience, extraordinary service, upscale food not for the music. Conversation and enjoying those with you at the table should be the priority.
  15. I was on the Magic this past week and there were over 800 platinum guest on the ship and about 150 diamond. They had two platinum/diamond parties to accommodate the volume. There is no doubt Carnival will have to reduce the number of guest reaching the platinum perk level to control the cost. There are many ways to do it but it is not decision. When the decision is made, it will make entertaining reading on this site. I will add that we order our complimentary chocolate covered strawberries. When we received the plate, it had one strawberry, 2 red wafer cookies (uck) and 2 chocolate mystery balls. This perk went in the trash.
  16. If anyone has time, go to the WWII museum. You need at a minimum 4 hours. Still not enough time.
  17. A cruise from New Orleans in October will include a lot of Saints, LSU, Arkansas and Alabama football fans. I have been on this cruise many times. Brush up on your Southeastern Conference football.
  18. On the Horizon, the evening meals were not free. We had the Trash Can Nachos and Wings. The Wings were similar to grocery store pre cooked wings and the nachos were stale. The sea day BBQ was free.
  19. I was on the Horizon during Halloween. I got a sore throat begining Wednesday night and lasted through the following Monday (5 days). Tested negative for Covid using the gov't test. I also felt cramped on the ship in the Casino and in the sports bar. It was crowded due to the World Series. The Comedy Club was smaller also. I was ok with the design of the ship but that is probably because I am tired of the Conquest line. The Horizon did have more venues to enjoy.
  20. This guy is not going to tell the truth. His family was incapacitated from being up late and drinking. They probably slept to 11:00 AM the next morning and did not miss him until Noon. If they told the truth, they may all look look less than intelligent. The guy has said God saved him for a reason. He should start by telling the truth.
  21. Did not read any anger in the post. Please explain your perception of anger in the post.
