  1. Your posts have convinced me that my opinion of Carnival being none and done for us still holds true.
  2. Have you contacted the company that you bought the "cancel for any reason" insurance from?
  3. In addition of the regular gratuities we always give special bar tenders, special food servers and our cabin attendant envelopes on the day/evening before embarkation day. This works for us to recognize the service we have been given.
  4. We are travelers first, and we are cruisers. After a "taste" of Turkey on a cruise, we then went on a land trip for 8 nights in Istanbul. I would be with choice #1, but between the two cruises, definitely choice #2.
  5. We are B2B on Summit in August- Canada, Iceland & Greenland.
  6. I have had very good results in many countries with Tours By Locals.
  7. Separately from your tour question, have you checked out Iguazu Falls? A quick flight from BA, and they are amazing. The falls are between Argentina and Brazil. We chose to do just the Argentina side which is fantastic. https://iguazuargentina.com/en/
  8. In Buenos I booked through Tours By Locals. I've booked through Tours By Locals in many places around the globe. https://www.toursbylocals.com/
  9. Since it is your first cruise you might want to consider ship tours.
  10. It appears this is a hypothetical question. The OP can buy insurance to cover the situations addressed, regardless of cruise line.
  11. We came late to cruising, had never even considered it until 2011. We decided we were going to go to New Zealand and Australia in 2013, something I had always wanted to do. We were going to fly out of LAX to Auckland, and I got to thinking if there would be a more pleasant way to return. I started looking online and found Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas, 18 nights out of Sydney to Honolulu. We spent 2 weeks in NZ, 8 weeks in OZ and we were ready to have some down time. The day we boarded Rhapsody of the Seas we walked around looking at everything, had our first ever muster drill, got lunch. I was taking pictures like crazy, was on deck looking at the beauty that is Sydney. I was in awe of this beautiful ship, I was totally hooked before we sailed away. Jim kind of liked to too, what an easy way to travel. Since then we have continued with Royal Caribbean, and added Celebrity in 2015 and then Cunard when I figured out we could take Queen Mary 2 back and forth.
  12. You are fine. If your tour somehow didn't make it back in time, since it is a Celebrity tour they will wait. If it is really late, and they have to pull away, Celebrity is obligated to get those guests on the ship's tours back to the ship. This would be an unusual situation, but it can happen. We were on a ship's tour one time, don't remember where anymore, but those of us on the bus kept telling the lady driving the bus that we needed to get back to the ship, she was going to be late. When she finally pulled in by the ship they were preparing to pull up the gangplank, an officer was waiting, and he let her know how badly she messed up making us late.
  13. We each pack ourselves, and I have been using packing cubes for many years. They are wonderful for keeping stuff organized.
  14. As long as you do the lifting and help her out, she should be fine. Unless of course she doesn't feel up to it. Just over a year ago I broke my left ankle in five places. Fortunately I was on blood thinners, so was able to heal with splint, then cast. I bought waterproof leg covers on Amazon so I was able to shower. I also bought waterproof tape to go along the cover/skin area for extra water protection.
  15. Years ago I would research, plan things our, book excursions, not so much anymore. We have traveled more non cruise than we have by cruise ship, although some places we have gone back to because we first were there on a ship. We've been to five continents, and passed through Drake Passage, but did not make landfall on Antarctica, we were close enough. DH traveled Asia extensively for work, Korea, China, Japan, India, and Viet Nam in the Army. My only touch of Asia was the Asian side of Istanbul, but I never have had much interest in that part of the world. We were able to spend two weeks in New Zealand and eight weeks in Australia, with a week in Tasmania, that was somewhere I had always wanted to go since I was young. Our next B2B takes us to Iceland and Greenland, we have nothing booked yet and it is coming up soon. Probably at least 20 years ago we went to a travel seminar with folks trying to sell all kinds of things. There was a lady attending that said as long as she was on a ship she didn't care where it was going. At the time I thought it was a strange comment. I understand now, I think I'm about there.
  16. I have always bought medical and evacuation coverage when we are leaving the US, but had never bought insurance to cover the trip until this year. We had always just considered the trip costs to be something we could absorb until now. For our B2B in August I fully insured through The Trip Insurance Store. Steve is so knowledgeable and helpful.
  17. I hope everyone is safe and the ship can sail away soon.
  18. My favorite cabins and have never had a soot problem.
  19. If you want the plastic type to slip the tags for the ship, they are available on Amazon.
  20. Have you contacted Silver Sea with your immigration question? I must also agree with everyone who has cautioned an early flight. Too many things can change causing a later docking.
  21. Queen Anne has some interesting itineraries!
