  1. Galveston right?

Yeah all ships returning to Galveston regardless of cruiseline have enhanced measures. The main measure is, they scan your passport instead of just looking at it. Generally on the grand cayman itinerary, they only glance at US Passports. With cruises that stop in Belize, they scan the passports.

It doesn't necessarily take longer or delay disembarkation. I've been off quickly if I am one of the first off. It does take much longer for non US passport holders, and for people who are towards the back of the line getting off the ship.

Regardless of ship or whether or not they announced it, ALL ships get different treatment from when returning from Belize as compared to the other itinerary.

Just back yesterday from Valor with stop in Belize. Customs agent just looked at our passport. Really wish fewer ships would go there.

  2. Are the speeds any faster in the internet cafe' then on your phone?

Last week on Valor found it much easier to use my phone all week. After two days of having a problem getting on with phone and their terminals put my laptop away and just used my phone all week.

  3. I am asking this question for a friend and he told me they had a C class cabin booked on the Carnival Dream. I mentioned that just in case there is different refrigeration equipment provided in different categories of rooms on Carnival. I am not myself familiar with Carnival. On some/most cruise lines they only have the mini-bar with a cooler, not what I would call a real refrigerator. If you empty the mini-bar/cooler, then you can use it for drinks but they don't get real cold. He wants to know the situation with the Carnival Dream. I hope that clarifies the question.

Still wondering what a c class cabin is

  4. Carnival has the mini coolers you describe. They keep thongs cool, but we have never found them to be cold, although we have heard that leaving the outside door open helps with the coldness. The room steward can clean it out as you describe. Carnival has adjusted their policy for carryon beverage so I am not sure what they would be keeping cold.....

Leaving the outside wooden open sure helps. Door might look nice but it interferes with the working of frig.

  5. Can anybody tell me pros vs/ cons of upgrading to ann owners suite on the Imagination? Wold it be very loud in the room?

Why would you think the most expensive cabin on the ship would be very loud? Would think they would do whatever is necessary to make it the best

  6. Agree. They're moving toward once-per-day service for sure. And doing it this way makes it seem like that's what people want cause they're selecting it.

Welcome to Carnival downgrade 101. Manipulate new cruises into thinking that you only need service once and than we will be told the masses only want one time service.

  7. Thank you, I did and it wasn't showing anything out of NYC when I want to sail (April or May 2017) so I wasn't sure if it was just too early or if they even sail out of NYC in the spring. Looks like we'll have to fly unfortunately.

Consider other cruise lines sailing out of NY. Have sailed out of NY twice and loved sailing down the Hudson.

  8. I'm just curious about how the format of the muster drill is decided. Does it vary from ship to ship or is it a feet wide procedure that sometimes changes?

    The reason I ask is:

Victory '04- the old days! Out on deck with life jackets on

Imagination '12- indoor presentation held inside in a lounge

Victory '13, Freedom '14, Valor '15- held on deck with no life jackets in attendance

Sensation '16- began as a presentation in the lounge & then we were moved out on deck to finish up the drill

I cruise about once per year now so it's hard to tell if it's ship to ship or just changes every so often fleet wide. I found the format on Sensation to be annoying. Why start inside to then move thousands of people again outside? Why not just start outside? I'm not complaining in general because obviously it's important & it signals the start of vacation to me when muster ends. Just curious :)

Been the same on the cruises we have taken in past few years. Start and end at same place without life jackets in hand.

  9. When John was answering a question on his facebook page a couple of days ago, he said Carnival would have a ship in Europe in 2017. Yesterday he said there would not be a ship in Europe in 2017. As of now, there will not be a ship in Europe. More announcements to come in the coming weeks.

Guess one of his beards cannot make up his mind.

  10. Don't miss Sea Day Brunch....steak and eggs. And feel free to order the mac n cheese as a side even though it shows on the menu as an entrée. Carnival's mac n cheese is awesome. The "steak" in steak and eggs is filet.

    Have a great cruise!

The Steak and eggs is an excellent dish.
