  1. This is already a thread with numerous replies:
  2. It's Captain Sandy and her sister Michelle Dunham as Ascent godmothers.
  3. Not in favor of family hours in the solarium. The designated hours I see now are when we typically use the hot tub -- before we get ready for dinner or a show. And X still advertises solarium as adults only, not noting exceptions when families may use.
  4. Not true. Both forward and aft porthole veranda, some partially obstructed by window washing equipment. Have read of noise issues with forward PHV being over crew lounge area.
  5. We've had the same aft porthole veranda twice last year on the Apex. Not a lot of space and we never spent much time out there, but it was okay. Next year on Ascent TA we trying an infinite veranda. We'll have third Apex cruise in SV in January 2024, booked quite a while ago but going forward too pricey. Edited to note there may be slight obstruction, at least aft, due to window washing equipment.
  6. It starts at Elite, not Elite plus.
  7. Very happy you and Mr. Norwaylady can enjoy this wonderful cruise, and enjoy your live review very much! Hoping your brother will will improve. Have a great trip!
  8. Lol, look up street fashion for Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm or any European city. White sneakers with everything.
  9. Thanks for review. What type of cabin? Aqua class, concierge, regular balcony accessible? What dining? You mention butter but Celebrity routinely offers in MDR dish with butter plus two other spreads for rolls and breadsticks. You can also get canned sodas at Elite happy hour.
  10. As was previously pointed out, this doesn't appear to be the complete menu. Plus everyone can order items from any of the four MDRs. We were on Apex this July.
  11. I agree, bins are no big deal (remember old and inadequate pipes) compared to " squat toilets". Last time we were in Turkey I went into a bathroom stall with a squat toilet. Before I could close the door, an attendant came running saying "no no" and led me by the hand to a stall with a standard toilet. Funny to me because living in Europe for almost four years, I had encountered squat toilets in Turkey, Greece and Italy. I guess she had dealt with many shocked ladies.
  12. We've done sunset veranda three times and deluxe porthole veranda twice. Doing SV on Apex in January, but also on Ascent TA in IV. Same hope as you that IV is good option for TA with cooler weather.
  13. We first cruised on the Apex September 2021 with less than 400 guests. In 2022 we cruised on the Edge in March and September. All three cruises were in SV. Thoroughly enjoyed each ship and cruise. This year we did were on the Apex in March and June in DPV since SV price was way up so our cabin was downgraded but still good. And yes, there were menu changes from 2021 and 2022 -- this year each MDR lost an appetizer and entree from that restaurant's exclusive menu, and there were more non-meat entrees. This year for the first time we were encouraged to order from any of the four MDR menus which is a great option. We noticed more non-meat options in the Oceanview Cafe, but for all meals food was plentiful with lots of variety and good quality. Service whether cabin, dining or bar was excellent all three years (of course exceptional in 2021 with the restart and an almost empty ship). Next year we're on the Apex in January and a TA on Ascent in April. We first cruised on Celebrity on the Galaxy, and we have a number of Equinox cruises. We like ALL the ships and have done Costa, NCL, HAL, many Princess. We also had a Princess cruise in 2022 and one booked in 2025. Yes, all lines have changes but it's the opportunity and total experience. No complaints on our 2023 X cruises.
  14. Lucky you! We were on the next Best of Scandinavia and had rain first sea day, Warnemunde, Helsinki, Stockholm and second Copenhagen day. Was still a great cruise!
  15. That's how I usually make gnocchi dishes, don't like it boiled. When I brown it there is a nice toasty flavor and it's not dry. Sorry it was not better because it can be pan-fried well. Your reviews and pics this week have been so lovely! Wishing you all the best!
  16. As very active senior cruisers (65 and 71) we would always choose Celebrity over Viking. In our 35+ plus years of cruising we've sailed Costa, NCL, Princess, HAL, Celebrity. We like being in an environment of mixed ages including families, with more ship board opportunities and venues. Our encounters with Viking tours in ports confirm that their slower pace is probably not for us right now. We have friends who are avid Viking cruisers, but are more sedate and seek a less varied cruise style. Great there are many lines and ships to cater to people's different wants and styles.
  17. We've been in SV and DPV on Apex and Edge and magnetic hooks work great.
  18. On Apex it's at Le Petit Bistro. No small bagels though, just regular size even though menu lists small. Wish there was one egg dish, maybe quiche? Lack of protein other than smoked salmon or European style cold cuts sent us back to Oceanview.
  19. We're currently on Apex. I smell vape in our cabin, we don't vape. Yesterday a cabin door was opened as we were walking down the hall about five or six cabins away from ours. A cloud of the same aroma wafted out. Obviously the cabin attendant is aware but not telling them no vaping. Sign of future policies?
  20. We'll be back in the same DPV on Apex we were in March soon. You don't have to sit sideways, just a bit angled. NBD.
  21. Thank you so much for your great review! Glad you, Mom and sis had a wonderful trip! We're looking forward to our Best of Scandinavia on June 25.
  22. Our experience is the spreads and breads change nightly, but are the same in all four MDR on E class.
