  1. I know you were not. I was just explaining that I am not against people using paper boarding passes. I am not trying to save trees.
  2. I think so but a couple of posters were advising that everyone should use paper not digital because they saw two people at different airports of people who had run out of battery. I had paper backup myself the first couple of times until I was confident and then have used the digital for years without issues. For people who are nervous or don’t travel much, or just plain OCD a paper copy is a good idea. Don’t make a generalization though that everyone needs a paper boarding pass.
  3. I can answer the bus question. You can take any bus number from the Dockyard to get to Somerset Long Bay. Take either of the bus routes that leave from the Dockyard, the #7 and #8
  4. Other cruise lines had cigar lounges. Celebrity and Royal Caribbean for example. They got rid of them years ago. As for arcades I am sure there will be young people using them. Arcades are not an innovation I have seen them on many ships. Obviously Princess believes they will get more revenue from arcades than cigar lounges. We used the cigar lounges on Princess, Celebrity and Royal back in the day when we would indulge in Cuban cigars. No longer interested in that after I got older.
  5. There is public access at St. Catherine but there are no amenities. I have walked to Tobacco Bay and St. Catherine but if you are there in August or early September it is hot and humid. You will probably regret it. If you want an uncrowded beach from St. George I suggest taking a taxi to Coopers Island. One of the beaches Clearwater has amenities and is not crowded and inside Coopers Reserve are pristine beaches that are practically empty. For Warwick and Horseshoe you can take a bus or taxi from Hamiltion. I recommend a taxi. I usually start at Wawick and walk to Horseshoe. For snorkeling Tobacco Bay.
  6. Snorkel Park iss a dump. You did good going to Somerset Long Bay. I hadn't been recomending it for a close to the Dockyard beach because they had not had chairs or ports potties for years. This is welcome news. As for the rest of your experiences if you had done research you would have been prepared for the ferry and bus system. Bermuda is small, 60,000 so there limitations to how many buses and ferries they can support. Compared to any other island destination I have been on what they have is better. If you had asked about the caves on this board you would have known that reservations are recommended. But thanks for confirming that.
  7. That is good info and good news. Thank you for reporting this. I have been there in past years a couple of times and there were no porta potties of chair rentals.
  8. Whatever works for you. I have used the Apple Watch and it is handy at the TSA checkpoint but at the boarding gate itself some airlines had their scanner positioned so that while it worked it required contortions of my wrist to position so I use my phone. That was years ago when the Apple Watch was a new thing so the airlines might have fixed that but I won’t bother to find out unless there is a problem with my phone.
  9. If I had a paper copy I would more likely be fumbling for that. My phone is always in the same pocket and my Apple Watch is always on my wrist. Really sweet is if there is a gate change the new gate shows up on my digital boarding pass. I am sure a lot of people don't know how to use the features but that is not my problem. If paper works best for you use paper.
  10. What fumbling? There is nothing for me to do but take the phone out of my pocket. Since the passes are in my Apple Wallet.my boarding passes appear on my iPhones lock screen at the correct time and location. The travel writers advice may apply to some people but I won't take it. I know what I am doing. I also have a portable battery bank as mentioned by klfrodo. In addition I have an Apple Watch and the borarding passes are in the Apple Wallet on the watch.
  11. Until they are not? Seems like other peoples incompetence is not a good reason to get a paper boarding pass. I don't understand walking around airport with phone in hand. Don't need it until at the gate. There is nothing wrong with using a paper boarding pass but I don't see the point of your anecdote on this thread.
  12. Each country would have to agree. I could see happening someday as biometric is the way to do it but some might object do to privacy. China for example uses it as a repressive measure.
  13. Google is not your browser. Google is a search engine. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge are browsers.
  14. I didn't do anything and became Diamond Plus last week. 😄
  15. The ferry to St. George does not run on the weekend. You can take the ferry to Hamilton. Cost is $5 cash or $4.50 if you buy tokens. Children 5-15 is $2.75 cash. The ferry schedule has all the times. http://www.marops.bm/Documents/Ferry/Summer Ferry Schedule 2024.pdf
  16. Not much to do in Nassau so I always head for John Bulls. They are an authorized Rolex dealer and have other luxury goods. I like to browse. But I will never buy because I can’t put my head around spending that much on a watch. If I did buy a Rolex it would be from an authorized dealer in the US.
  17. There is an al Bacio in the buffet. I have only used it for Cappachinos but they can probably make Irish Coffee.
  18. FYI. The government of Bermuda put this teaser on my FB feed. Nothing active yet. Says June 24. https://forms.gov.bm/shorelink?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR3pO6MiXOGW6dAUqWylDWdKIugX0VFnZY9SViflEM6qGpEjx3Z_aXLWme4_aem_AfyTBOoaDppLpAx4KxqxJFS31nwq5jMtv3u5rmFNlYu0cpAzoNAet-1a4U8QpljnbplG8Cz5Dh55SQ7e2pJ8lQnm
  19. They were open 20 years ago. I believe they closed around the start of covid but i don't know the exact year. You probably would not have noticed it from St. Catherine beach as the fort would block your view but you would from the fort itself. The building was distinctive. I usually walk to that area from Tobacco so I could see it. I would have a beer there. If you took a taxi you could miss it as you would have to look up. There are stairs down to access Achilles beach. Blacbeards I believe was associated with the St. Georges Club which had chairs on Achilles Beach. The stairs were damaged a couple of years ago and repairing them is supposed to happen.
  20. I think you mean the Senior Officers party. The day of the Captain’s Party was never excluded.
  21. They have it at the coffee shop, Cafe al Bacio.
  22. I am retired ten years so my home clothes are usually T shirts and shorts since I moved to Texas which tends to be warm. I wash everything at home. On a cruise I wear smart casual. Khaki in the evening and shorts during the day. I don’t dress fancy anymore and I don’t dress up special on a cruise. It’s a vacation. I do send my underwear and socks, t shirts to the laundry to save packing space. So I use those perks. If I would wear my pants, shorts and shirts an extra day I could probably go with a carry on. Also if I used the pay laundry. The damage has been in the free bags. When I send shirts out not in the free bags, they come back on hangers and undamaged.
  23. There was a thread or two about the just announced loyalty program changes in the last week. Glad you had great weather in Bermuda.
  24. I am trying to get down to a carry on bag. Have not succeeded yet….still have one checked bag but almost….Have not sent anything to dry cleaner in 10 years. All my cruise clothes are wrinkle free fabrics. My cruise wardrobe is not better or worse than my home wardrobe.
  25. Also it is completely different type of restaurant. I went to Blackbeards a couple of times and it was more of a joint as I recall. Burgers and beer. The AC didn’t work well if they even had AC. The new establishment has a fancy menu.
