  1. Achilles is the new name of the restaurant reopening in the former Blacbeards space. This is next to Fort St. Catherine in St. Georges. It overlooks Achilles Bay. https://www.royalgazette.com/local-business/business/article/20240603/former-blackbeards-restaurant-reopens-with-new-name-and-look/
  2. The Achilles restaurant which is next door to Fort St. Catherine has opened in the space of the former Blackbeards restaurant. https://www.royalgazette.com/local-business/business/article/20240603/former-blackbeards-restaurant-reopens-with-new-name-and-look/
  3. The separate dolphin experience I don't believe to be worth the significantly more than $18 they charge but thats my personal opinion Frankly it was the most depressing dolphin place I have seen. It is a small area with bars at the end. I am comparing to Chankanaab Park and Xcaret in Mexico which have much larger enclosures. Or what they have in Vancouver Canada. The only positive thing I would say is they don’t have hordes of people lining up because it is so small.
  4. The $18 admission get you into the Keep. The museum, the Commissioners House and the Dolphin Quest and a playground are on the grounds inside the keep. The museum is air conditioned. There are no other animals. If you are not swimming with the dolphins about an hour. It is worth it if you are interested in history, or if you have time on your hands the last day.
  5. I have had tears in two button down cotton dress shirts. After the second time I stopped sending those in the laundry bag. I do send underwear, t-shirts, Polo shirts and socks. I can tell the polos get shrinkage so now I take inexpensive 60/40 polos from Kohls on cruises and those are holding up. So the benefit is quite good for me as that takes care of most of my needs. I have a separate vacation wardrobe from my normal wardrobe.
  6. The #4 runs different routes to get to Spanish Point not always the same road. Confused me figuring it out. If you want to try transferring from the #11 ask the bus driver when you get on. They will tell you and call it out if possible to transfer along the way. Even with a map you probably won't know the stop without assistance of the driver calling it out. If there is no transfer along the route just go to the bus terminal and transfer. If you can transfer and are not using a transportation pass ask for a transfer ticket. You can also ask at the visitor information center and they will mark it on a map. There are VIC's at the Dockyard, Hamilton and St. George. When all is said and done even with the map you will need the driver to call out the stop. For all your stops when you get on the bus politely ask the driver to let you know when you get there. Unless you are going to the end of a route you won't be able to know the stops without the drivers help. Also bus stops have a pole. If the pole is pink the direction is toward Hamilton. Blue is away.
  7. The $7 per ride shuttles to Horseshoe Bay are privately owned ride shared minibuses that run back and forth all day. The fare is regulated. As soon as the minibus is filled usually under 10 minutes they leave. Some take 18, some 30. They are not through Royal Caribbean.
  8. It depends on the bank. I can use my card with a Visa logo with zero liability. The problem for some people is the holds. If they keep a low balance they get hit with overdrafts and then fees.
  9. I have been asked 3 times over the years all on Princess to move with great offers but unfortunately it was I was working and it was not possible to swap my weeks off. Seems to be a Princess thing.
  10. What it the subject? I don't get Captains Club emails anymore because once their crappy system stops sending CC emails their incompetent IT can't or won't restart them.
  11. That is the beach where sewage gets dumped. You can see it going in just past Bobby's Marina. Often has high bacteria counts.
  12. Clearwater is off the beaten track so I suggest you should ask the driver who drops you off to come back and pick you up at a pre arranged time. You could also use the Hitch Bermuda app or call a taxi dispatch service. Also the concession there can call a taxi. Don’t go there on debarkation day and leave extra time to get back to the ferry dock in St.George’s. The last time we went there the taxi didn’t show and after 30 minutes the concession found as a “gypsy” driver. The driver who said he was going to pick us up probably had another fare and likely would have showed up eventually. We had no concern because our ship was docked in St. George’s so didn’t have to worry about making a ferry.
  13. It is not much of a trek. Do the math. The one day pass or single tokens may be best. You can get those in the Dockyard. The best way from St. George’s to Clearwater is a taxi. You might have to catch the taxi at the taxi stand in the town square. There is a bus from St. George to Clearwater but it only runs once an hour.
  14. That's why the pool and hot tub are chlorinated. Still though don't want urine in pool and definity not fecal matter. All kinds of sewage in ocean but it is diluted. Many public beaches in more advanced countries the water is tested. In any case that is one of the reasons I got the Hep A vaccine it is not just for foreign countries. Lot of sewage gets dumped in US waters. Also so I don't get sick from food in underdeveloped countries.
  15. Ticket booklets are sold in St. George’s at the post office. It is a few blocks from the ferry dock. You need the 14 zone booklet which costs $37.50. The booklets are not sold at the Dockyard. Booklets also sold in Hamilton at the post office and they should have them available at the ferry terminal and bus terminal in Hamilton.
  16. That makes sense but maybe they are doing a water excursion like a Jet Ski tour or other tour that leaves from the Dockyard and returns to the Dockyard? Maybe they hope they don't need it. In any case this gives me a chance to add to my previous answer. When you return to the ship in Bermuda the government issued photo ID has to be shown to a Bermudian official so I suggest have both a photo ID and Sea Pass card out and ready. If it is in a pocket or purse you will have to take it out.
  17. You need a government issued photo ID (I use my drivers license) and your sea-pass card. A sea pass card alone is not sufficient.
  18. There was an article this morning in the Royal Gazette that the taxi drivers are just starting to get their meters adjusted but the new rates are in effect. Taxis hold 7. There are 2 rates one for 1-4 passengers and a higher rate for 5-7 passengers. With the old rates our fare would run $32 - $34 overall total for 2 or 3 passengers plus tip. So add 15% for an estimate. I don't think an exact amount is ever possible as it is metered.
  19. I prefer the taxis too but sometimes I end up at the beach myself because my travel companions are sun sensitive red heads who leave early the beach early or decide to skip the beach. When I end up solo I take the minibus.
  20. Or they can take the excursion and if they feel like staying longer they can skip the excursion return time and take a $7 minibus back.
  21. You can book bike excursions or any excursion independent of the cruise line. You can also rent bikes in many ports. Folding bikes are not going to be that desirable for excursions. They are usually used by commuters.
  22. I think that is the issue. I believe that what was posted happened or something like it. Also probably someone bringing a folding bicycle is not an everyday issue and ship security can’t just wave them through.
  23. I can’t promise you that it could not happen but I have been to Horseshoe Bay beach about 25 times and no one bothered my stuff on the beach and I never felt like they would. I have been there solo but even not solo we all went into the water together. No one was left to guard the bags. I have left my e-reader and phone in my beach bag. Probably not the smartest thing to do but the vibe is pretty safe. Also there are no venders walking around trying to sell stuff. There are also lifeguards patrolling the beach. Bermuda is not in the Caribbean and is a lot safer but there has been an increase in petty crime in Bermuda the last few years so minor precautions are prudent. You mention an excursion. I go there on my own. There are $7 a ride shuttles that run back and forth all day and you can go and leave whenever you feel like it.
  24. I noticed a few people doing that lately. Sometimes they are making up the story to stir things up, or they have been banned. I do have a friend who has been on 40 cruises and when he has a booking he creates a new account because he does not post in between bookings and he forgets his username and password. He finds it asier to sign up for a new account.
