  1. I have been on Engine Room tours on Celebrity that were not complete tours but they did not let anyone into the main area. We saw the engine control room. Interesting but no engines. Not likely they would allow passengers inside. There would be liability issues.
  2. There have been several good answers but to put it short and sweet the Roll Call is the topic. You can't start a topic in the roll call, you post to the roll call.
  3. It seems like OP might have confused themselves into the wrong conclusion. Their passport is a much better document than naturalization papers. Apparently the word “recommended” is throwing them. Celebrity is not recommending using naturalization papers or birth certificates. Their recommendation on six months is to cover themselves as some itineraries could require six months. The closed loop cruise they are taking does not.
  4. There has to be some date because photos need to be updated and internationaly 10 years sems to be standard. Some countries require 3 or 6 months left to make sure you don't get stuck there with an expired passport. Many countries like the US only require a valid passport. I used to shoot for renewing at 8 months left but the last time I had so many cruises stacked that I had to time one with 5 months left. Had no problem as it was a typical Caribbean rt cruise. Then I sent my passport in. Next renewal I will be starting at 12 months out since I have been going on more land trips and want to ne able to travel on short notice.
  5. My impression is that OP is a US citizen living in Canada but that does not actually matter. Canadian or US passport six months validity is not required of those going on that itinerary. This has been difficult for Canadians particularly but also Americans to understand because globally there are different requirements and the cruise lines do a terrible job of explaining requirements that confuses people. I often wonder if that is on purpose.
  6. Their backend is broken. They have no idea either and they would have to spend a lot to fix it. A problem for large companies is that migrating to a new backend could be a disaster too.
  7. The IT used by the Royal Caribbean Group has been problematic for years. Years ago I stopped receiving Royal Caribbean emails while I have continued to receive Celebrity emails after they combined the log in credentials. I talked to Royal Caribbean many times to get emails, tried logging in and reseting but only get their emails when booked on a sailing. Turns out to have been a blessing as now I don’t want their emails. Celebrity sends me two marketing emails a day plus more if there is a Captains Club email. A bit much, one email every couple of days would be sufficient but I don’t want to mess with it. When they stop coming it seems like it’s permanent. They don’t want to spend to fix their broken backend.
  8. OP is cruising at end of December so by normal renewal only eight weeks is too slow.
  9. Host Kat posted in the Search Broken thread that IT and Admin work a 9-5 weekday schedule ( didn’t say what time zone) so be patient. It is going to be broken for some hours yet before it is fixed.
  10. I don’t know when or whether they will close for the season. They don’t say on their website. The beach bar is called Sunjammers. They do have an email address link and phone number link on their site. You might contact them and ask. https://www.sunjammersbda.com/
  11. Your passport is fine for that itinerary. You won’t be denied boarding.
  12. You are not the only one seeing it. Many basic board functions are down right now not just search. Activity streams etc bring up that page. Since the forum is about Tech help with the forums seems like that would be on topic but I guess they want us to contact Laura.
  13. Traveling to Istanbul and Kusadasi is safe until it isn’t. I think that cruise lines will have a problem booking passengers to the area until tensions lesson because many people have a problem making distinctions. I think cruise lines are canceling Turkey because their customers are canceling.
  14. Marvel comic book hero Daredevil, and also Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, villain William Fisk live in the neighborhood. Did you know the neighborhood is known as Hells Kitchen? It used to be a rough neighborhood. It now mostly gentrified. The comic books and later TV shows are set in a pre gentrified version.
  15. Parts are run down but I would not go as far as to call the neighborhood seedy or sketchy. I have walked that area several times but I had no bags of any kind. it is not as simple as it appears when you have luggage.
  16. That is great. A lot of cruisers don’t go out at night in Istanbul and are missing out.
  17. It may be a business decision based on people not wanting to book cruises to an area they think may be unsafe. Possibly people are not booking those sailings or canceling them.
  18. In have taken the tram and walked. A person who is mobile can walk. Can take the tram and walk to most major sites. Istanbul is one of my favorite ports, I been a few times. The tram is cheap and easy. Took the subway too. Tram and subway stops near the cruise terminal. We even took the tram in the evening, there was even a Shake Shack downtown, tram and walking are safe but that said given the currrent situation and Turkey's governemt position it makes sense for the cruise lines to anticipate there might be anti American sentiment and cancel because they had to pause cruises there a few years ago before restarting. I would guess that they were getting cancelations too.
  19. Try connecting first to the internet and then connecting your VPN. That has worked on other cruise lines. You say no way to turn off your VPN but there should be a way in your network and internet settings. Ask your IT.
  20. Why would any tour operator not find out from the port? Would it make sense to drive to the dock and find no ship? Berths can be switched for an operational reason. I onder if the tour has to be prepaid and they don't care.
  21. A local tour operator should be able to find that information out. I would be leery of using that operator.
