  1. They only cover if you purchase a round trip entirely with the card. The cruise was not a round trip. I have cut and pasted the conditions for coverage. below. "Despite our best efforts, sometimes things happen that are out of our control. If you purchase a round trip entirely with your Eligible Card and a covered reason cancels or interrupts your trip, Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance‡ can help reimburse your non-refundable expenses purchased with the same Eligible Card, up to $10,000 per trip and up to $20,000 per Eligible Card per 12 consecutive month period. Terms, conditions and limitations apply.*"
  2. It is a credit card benefit. They limit it to encourage card members to book all their travel on a trip with AMEX. Their card, their rule. They don't hide the rule. It is clearly stated. All travel on a trip from start to finish must be charged on AMEX Platinum, Chase Reserve does not have that rule. It is not a purchased inurance policy. A supervisor can't overule the rule for using the benefit. They are not going to get results with their state attorney general. It would not depend on the AMEX benifit or the Chase benefit for a international trip that ncludes a cruise. There are all kinds of conditions. OP should have purchase a third party travel policy.
  3. Ironic about being cautious and not using Apple Pay as it is way more secure than other payment methods. It is the most secure payment method. The merchant never gets your cc number. I always use Apple Pay when available. I have it on my Apple Watch and tap. I have seen an uptake in people using their phone for payments in the past year. The rest of the world has it right about not handing credit cards to be transacted out of sight. That is idiotic and there are portable terminals. They have had those in Europe for years.
  4. The adhoc meets that we used to organize from roll calls that were not sponsored were usually better than the sponsored meets. The problem now is that the roll calls are largely defunct except for many sailings. Sailings where people to meet others for independent tours are probably going to be better. If there is no sponsored meet then an adhoc meet can be organized. Some staff might even show up if the adhoc meet is drawing large interest. On another cruise line where the meets were not sponsored they invited the Captain and he often showed up.
  5. Apps on iOS have to ask permission to use features too. I have never used the Princess app so I don’t know what it wants to access. Apps on iOS are sandboxed. An iPhone would have to be jailbroken to get around that. I don’t know much about Android but I believe you can sideload apps which opens possible security holes. You would have to be careful what apps you trust if you sideload. We can’t do that on iOS now although some governments want to mandate it. I think those governments want to be able to make mischief. Some don’t like the way Apple controls what can be installed but it does mean more security and safety. Below is a description of how iOS apps and iPadOS apps are sandboxed for security. “All third-party apps are “sandboxed,” so they are restricted from accessing files stored by other apps or from making changes to the device. Sandboxing is designed to prevent apps from gathering or modifying information stored by other apps.”
  6. Amusingly I got a new Captains Club email a minute ago "From the Bridge" and it has my points with the correct updated total.
  7. I don't think the Chase Reseve Card insurance requires the complete booking to be insured roundtrip but they would have had to book the cruise with the Chase Reserve Card.
  8. Do you get the Captains Club emails? They are on the Captains Club emails. The one sent on 10/25 about Elite lounges shows my points without the 3 added. So the emails have some lag. Just signed in on the website and checked and it shows my points with the 3 added. The next Captains Club email will I am sure show the updated total.
  9. Sooner or later, probably sooner they will send me an email with my points total. I know I won’t make it to Zenith because my future cruises won’t all be on Celebrity and I am cruising less often.
  10. I have not got around to looking for that reason.
  11. That sounds good. One place you could go in bad weather is the Caves. There is also the National Museum at the Dockyard. Your tour does not include the East End,. You could easily do a 3 or 4 hour tour of the East, St George's, St. David, Coopers Island, Tuckertown, etc.
  12. That suggestion was never in the app when I used it. I always did online check in on my computer and of course Celebrity gets your credit card number. I would not have to go to guest relations as they already have it. You don't have to add it to the app but I don't see any problem with adding it but I would not add it as they already have it.. The security risk is not the app, the security risk is Celebrity's IT which I don't trust much but if you book a cruise there is no choice but to give them your cc number. If you are really worried about that use a credit card that issues virtual numbers. I do that. Your phone certainly is more secure than Celebrity's IT. For sure if it is an iPhone which has encryption. Only state actors have ways to get in and they usually have to have the phone. Just use a good passcode and biometrics. Don't fall for scammers.
  13. All I can think of is that they might have an Android phone but most likely they are OCD. One tell is that on an iPhone by default it locks immeadiatly. An no the Celebrity app does not get all access to my phone. The app never has access to my credit card and doubt it does on Android either.
  14. I don’t know what an iWatch is but I have not had any problem manually changing the time on my Apple Watch.
  15. Whenever the machine was broken on a couple of cruises we could get free coffee drinks somewhere else. That was acually somewhat better as coffees were pulled by a barista except had to stand in line. Never been on a transatlantic with Royal. Most of my Royal cruises were group cruises, I did get the balocny discount. That is probably the only way to get me on Royal the last ten years except one which was a ten day med sailing where the balcony cabin was a last minute $800 for the cabin deal because the sailing was supposed to be Egypt and Israel but was changed because of tensions so there were huge cancelations at final payment.
  16. I received the email and I am Elite Plus. Since we can now get drinks at any other bars I wonder how many will use this new benefit. Years ago it was only at the designated lounge and you were not supposed to take drinks out.
  17. The four drinks a day. I would not need a drink package or buy any drinks. That covers most drinks for me. Most drinks covered not a limited menu. The Crown Lounge (formally Diamond Lounge) specialty coffee machine. Balcony and suite discounts which for me as Diamond are $200 and above.
  18. No way to predict the weather in Bermuda this far out. Don't use weather app. They use algorithims based on past years a weather. Bermuda is an island so that does not work. The rain could be a ten minute sprinkle. The Bermuda weather service is more reliable and they only do 2-3 day forecasts. That said it is good to have backup plan as Bermuda has had a more rainy year than usual. Also beach season will be over water temp is cooling and air temp will be in the 70's. Personally that is too cool for me for the beach but some consider that warm enough. If you are only there one day you could take the ferry to Hamilton or when you get off find a taxi tour of the island. There is an area near the dock where you can get taxi and minibus tours island tours. http://www.weather.bm
  19. It would be dumb of them to combine points but they sometimes do dumb. The limited status match is a little too good but really those Royal cruisers are not getting much. Celebrity cruisers going on Royal are getting more out the match if they don't mind going on Royal.
  20. For me that specific menu only means gin and tonic or beer. The liquor used is pretty basic quality. I would rather pay fo good quality liquor than drink their limited shelf quality offerings. They use Beefeater Gin which is fine mixed with tonic although my not my prefered gin. So I do order that. And their wine choices usually come with a headache.
  21. They only offer it on select sailings but when you book ask about it. You might find that other offers are a better deal. I don’t think it takes more than being a veteran.
  22. They asked how they compare so I guess they have not been on Celebrity then? If so they should do a Celebrity cruise and then decide what they prefer. With their excitement about perks Royal sounds like a better for for them and Royal has much better perks.
  23. That is another reason not to cruise for loyalty perks. They can change them anytime. When I was about one cruise short on Royal for Diamond and one short on Celebrity by actual points they changed the goal posts. I had to do about 3 more sailings to move up.
  24. That is subjective but food is Royal's weak point. It is poor in my opinion. Entertainment and glitz is Royal Caribbean's strong point. The vibe on Royal is younger and family orientated. Royal has a better loyalty program. I prefer Celebrity because I prefer a more adult vibe. I reached Diamond on Royal years ago with points and have been 3 short od Diamond Plus for 4 years. but I am not booking with them to move up to the next tier. That is a fools game. I am Elite Plus on Celebrity by actual points. I never booked for the points. I booked for preference. You should book a Royal Caribbean cruise. You might prefer Royal Caribbean's. You should try different cruise lines and not worry about loyalty perks.
  25. Elite benefits are not terrible but they are not great perks. I don't know why anyone would be excited to get them. Makes more sense to book suites. You get a real enhanced experience.
