  1. Yes, I have started that Facebook group this year and it is dangerous in terms of $! but really good tips.
  2. Thanks, I wouldn't take out my phone sitting with other people! I just am more of a "nice dining" person (less buffet) but I am not sure what to do with myself if it turns into a long meal and I'm sitting there by myself. If it is okay in the MDR to look at my phone I would just do that. On the last two cruises I was on I didn't see people seated with anyone other than their traveling companions, but maybe there still is some of that if you ask.
  3. I travel a lot for work by myself and basically enjoy it, but for me it is a bit of a respite from working where I need to be "on" for others all the time. That said, I'm trying to psych myself up for a solo cruise, and I think I'm mostly worried about the dining. What do most of you do while you eat? I usually cruise lines that seat people with their own party, not strangers. Honestly, I'd rather not be foisted on someone but I don't want to eat in the buffet the whole time. On my business trips, I usually eat at more casual sit down restaurants where I don't feel wrid being on my phone or looking at a book or work papers. But that seems a bit gauche for the fancy restaurants on Celebrity and HAL (where I've usually cruised). I don't have a problem having a drink or watching a show or live music by myself, but I feel really shy about the dining. I don't know if this makes any difference, but I'm looking at cruises in Europe and Asia that will be pretty port-intensive.
  4. This is great to know we could replace the mini bar contents with bottled water.
  5. Congratulations and looking forward to following this. I love Rome. So many amazing things to see. being on the West Coast, I know it has been a very hard time to be a police officer.
  6. Thanks for a wonderful vicarious trip. I appreciate your YouTube videos as well.
  7. Thanks for this thread, helpful in planning our two days there next summer.
  8. Chiming in late but this is so helpful! I'm inspired to do a solo trip!
  9. This sounds fun. Hope I can sign up on our cruise next year.
  10. These pictures look so fun! I'm inspired to make this happen some year.
  11. I took my kids on an Alaska cruise on HAL at that age. The boys loved it and didn't use the Kids Club.
  12. I have noticed in reading some reviews/live from threads that the posters will intersperse text and photos. I see in the left hand lower corner how to attach files, which works for me (on my windows laptop) to put the photo at the end, but I don't see how I can put more text after the photo. So I would like to do a post that is like: text sentences <insert photo> text sentence <insert photo> are there differences based on what device one is using?
  13. I thought I remembered in the past I could choose with each post whether or not I wanted to add my signature. I don't really want to delete all the info, but for most posts I would not use the signature if I could decide on a case-by-case basis.

Also trying to see where I could suppress my signature for one post.

Now I'm trying to figure out how I would do a mix of pictures and text in the same post

This is dumb, but I've never added a mix of text and pictures to a post and want to see how it would work. I usually post from my laptop but take my pictures from my phone.
  17. I was able to come back later with a photo but I don’t remember how.
  18. Gorgeous dresses! I’ve always wondered about a Cunard TA.
  19. I'm already thinking about next summer's cruise where I'll be traveling with my 2 sons, 21 and 24. I was with the younger one on a Celebrity ship last summer. I need to tell them what to wear/pack, but they will feel self-conscious if they are wearing the wrong thing. Anyway, I noticed last summer on Celebrity most men had long sleeve collared shirts on the more dressy nights. It was incredibly hot in Greece and I didn't feel my son looked out of place in a collared short sleeve shirt. I think for next summer in the Baltic I need to tell them to each pack 1 long sleeve dress shirt and 1 or 2 nice collared short sleeve shirts, and pack some nicer long pants (i.e. not just jeans and athletic wear). And then some stain remover pens! One of them spilled food on himself on the first nice dinner on this summer's trip.
  20. On the transportation front, I highly recommend John Kontzialis - john.kontzialis@gmail.com. I can't seem to find his cell phone number, but I think we used What's app after we made initial contact via email. He was super helpful, nice to chat with, etc. On one of the legs of our trip he couldn't pick us up and found an equally nice colleague to get us. This was last summer but I doubt much has changed.
  21. Looks pretty similar to Stylebook without being linked to catalogs. I’m enjoying playing around with stylebook and at a minimum will be fun for some long plane flights coming up. The hassle is photographing existing clothes.
  22. Thanks. This is really helpful.
  23. Has anyone used it? I’m trying to pack less when I travel, whether work or fun. And it seems like it might be helpful. But there’s a lot of set up time needed.
