  1. 100% agree with this. My kids are now 19 & 20 and attending school. They have been D+ for years with our status match but are D on their own points. They are aready talking about cruising when they are finished school and head out on their own and Royal would be their choice - partly because of the D+ status and benefits. Diamond benefits are good too, but I'm not sure that, if Royal demoted them, they would stick with them. The feeling of be demoted and losing benefits they've had for years would definitely have them looking at other lines and price shopping. I think it's smart on Royal's part to let them keep the status and, therefore, keep their loyalty and money with Royal Caribbean.
  2. Living in a metric country, the 100 ml stood out to me as a very high amount and has to be a mistake in the type of measurement used. I'd say that should be 100 mg (milligrams) not ml (millilitres). Milligrams refers to weight, whereas millilitres refers to volume. 100 mg is about 0.0035 oz (weight) and 100 ml is about 3.4 fluid oz. Clearly no one would have 100 ml (almost 3.5 shot glasses) of poo smeared on them unless they were in an a current state of norovirus activity😳😂
  3. The app doesn't work either, unfortunately. This is probably either a shining example of Royal's stellar...cough cough....IT department or they're having trouble deciding on when check-in should start due to it being a repositining. My vote is for the IT glitch.
  4. I agree. The cabin is what the passenger sees the most, up close, interacting with and using the cabin contents. If the cabin looks worn and shabby and functioning items don't work properly then this is a huge let down and leaves you with a bad impression of the ship in general IMO.
  5. Yeah, that’s not the same type of light. I’ll see if I can find it again. update: here’s a picture of the light. They are in a Spacious Ocean View balcony, cat 4B on deck 8. But others on the ship are saying they don’t have them either. I even saw another picture of a completely different light. Nothing seems standard - Did RC go to value village to to get their lights? 😜
  6. No lesson required but I'd highly recommend it unless you have some experience already. They are limiting the number of tries to stand up and get the blue band so if you don't get your band you're done for the day. By taking a lesson the first day this will ensure you get the most out of the FlowRider for the rest of your cruise IMO.
  7. Someone posted on a picture on another forum of the light on each side of the bed and they had a usb port on the side of lights.
  8. Please come back and let us know what has been added/changed during her refurb. There's been no details released from Royal Caribbean, that I can find, and the only thing I know for sure is she had waterslides added. People are saying there were very few changes and mostly cosmetic fixes but I'm hoping El Loco Fresh was added, at least.
  9. I noticed that today as well. Makes it easier to spend your money, I guess 🤑
  10. If you are Platinum then you get 10% off a package and your kids will get the same. They are only talking about matching C&A benefits.
  11. It'll be loud on your balcony at times. The carosel may drive you nuts. Inside your cabin with the door closed it should be quiet. We did a boardwalk balcony once and will never do it again if we can avoid it. My #1 pleasure on a cruise is a peaceful balcony to relax on - IMO you will not get this on a boardwalk balcony. we were on deck 11 so had some distance to the boardwalk but it was still too loud for me. YMMV
  12. They can create a cabin category called "Ship Culture Enrichment" - eat and sleep like the crew; experience life below deck! The pricing can be structured as 1) You pick your cabin mate 2) We pick your cabin mate😄😏
  13. What is the plan for the non-smoking casinos? I would love to see non-smoking casinos but I hope the plan on Oasis class ships is not to add a small non-smoking casino in the Jazz on 4 space and then make the the entire current casino smoking. If anything, it should be the other way around. As a minimum keep the non-smoking side as is even if you add a separate non-smoking room. I don't see how the small space for the new non-smoking casino will allow for enough variety and quantity of slot machines - currently, on the non-smoking side of Oasis class ships, I still have problems finding a slot machine open that I wish to play during busy times. Please don't confine us to one small, separate room at the back as it will probably not be sucessful, nor a true test to see if non-smoking casinos are viable.
  14. I am the same - the smell of curry makes me want to puke. I don't know why, but it just does. I work for a home builder and we build lots of houses with 2 kitchens - a regular kitchen and a separate small one called a "spice kitchen". It is closed off and has a sink, stove, etc and its own exhaust system and window. The clients specifically request these to contain the smell so it does not permeate throughout their house.
  15. Well, that would be better☺️ Base price would be more like $12.75
  16. $15 for a drink - Royal is getting a little crazy. With the 18% grat it's $17.70. Guess they're trying to push everyone to the now higher priced DBP. As a Canadian that's currently $24.60 per drink. Thankfully, we get 5 free drinks per day. Edit: I see in another post this may be in Australia. But even at $14 + grat it's still nearly $23 per drink for us. I realize RC doesn't control our Cdn dollar and that's why I appreciate the 5 free drinks per day. We'd be out-priced otherwise.
  17. I have to agree with you - especially about the cookies. I wish I could opt out of this becaue we never eat them and they go in the trash. It's such a waste. They are always hard and dried up and if I want a cookie I will go get a fresh one.
  18. Deck 11 is great on Allure - nothing above or below to cause noise. What type of balcony did you get? IE Ocean view, Boardwalk or Central Park? I find Boardwalk balconies noisy when on the balcony (inside the room with the door closed it's fine though). Some people love the activity on the boardwalk but I, personally, love a more peaceful baclony experience. YMMV
  19. Yes, I agree, but I wish they would close in the smoking side with glass walls and add doors so the smoke stays in there😏
  20. If the plan is to make the Jazz club a non-smoking casino and then turn the entire existing casino into smoking then this will be a step down IMO. The size of the Jazz club is not even half the size of the current non-smoking section! On top of that, one of the biggest compaints I have is the smoke from the smoking side of the casino can be smelled in other areas like the dining room and in the aft starboard elevators where they bring the smoke smell all the way up to the higher decks (I could smell it on deck 12 on our last cruise). I always take the port side elevators in the aft for this reason. If they expand the smoking to both sides of the casino then the smell in the other areas of the ship will be even worse and you'll have to walk thru the smoking section to get to Entertainment Place or go up a floor and down. Expanding the smoking section in the casino would be a big mistake and result in a lot more complaints. I really hope this is not the plan.
  21. We are on Allure January 29th and received an email from the suite concierges on Saturday. They are: Nadja Djurdjevic & Nadia Escobar Paez
  22. I was told it is because of food safety. The sushi would need to be kept at a minimum temperature that the "cooler" (not fridge) in the room cannot meet so you have no where to store it safely. They don't want to be liable if you get food poisoning.
  23. We were on Allure Aug 20 to 28th and the brunch menu was offered one day out of the 3 we went to the MDR for breakfast - it was the last sea day. We went for breakfast that day at 8:50am and the line up was so long it went out past the entrance doors and wrapped around the elevator banks. We were going to leave but then the line started moving fairly quickly. Once seated we were given the brunch menu that I'd never seen before. The waiter said it was fairly new and we figured out that the dining room hours were 9am to 1pm for brunch so that's why the line was so long to get in - the dining room wasn't open at 8am as usual. I didn't check the app prior as I just assumed it was status quo. Not sure if they offered this any other days.
