  1. My wife and I have a few specific extra things that we ask for on day one, e.g. place sheets over the sofa and chairs, extra ice, a hot water kettle for the room, etc. For this I normally give the room steward $20 at the time we make the request. Also, if the room steward does more than just normal cleaning and servicing of the room during the course of the cruise, we trip again on the last night or the morning of the last day of the cruise. We consider ourselves to be very low maintenance but if we see that any wait staff, bartenders, room stewards, that we encounter daily put forth a little extra effort, we feel like they should be rewarded.
  2. Thank you both for your responses. We are in the same cabin for both sailings but never considered the Room Attendant or dining room wait staff could be different.
  3. Actually, we have watched a few reviews of Wonderland and looked at the menu and find it is not really our cup of tea.
  4. So when doing consecutive cruises and you want to tip extra do you do it at the end of each cruise or at the end of the last cruise?
  5. Thank you so much for a wonderfully comprehensive review. We are looking forward to boarding this coming Monday.
  6. If I understand it correctly, if you have already pre-paid gratuities, then the increase does not affect you, or at least that is what my TA told me.
  7. We have always left automatic gratuities in place and tipped as warranted at the end.
  8. To be accepted by Royal Caribbean the test must be proctored/monitored by a qualified medical technician.
  9. CVS in my area appears to no longer be doing rapid test. I have received "no appointments available" for the last two week.
  10. We thought about cancelling but decided that we would just go ahead and make the trip. We already have waited two years for this cruise, cancelled in 2020 and 2021, and did not want to wait any longer. Our main attractions for Alaska has always been the snow capped mountains and the wildlife but we are sad that we will be missing the glaciers.
  11. The 8/29 was originally scheduled for Sitka. The Quantum sailings alternated with Sitka one week and Skagway *the next when we book the 8/29 and 9/5 sailing over a year ago.
  12. Contact Royal Caribbean - they may still do testing for those that require it. However, there is a chance testing requirements, even for Bermuda, may changed between now and October.
  13. You can always cancel and re-book your cruise. But seriously, is it worth the $20.00
  14. We are on the same B2B on Quantum that you are currently booked on and have decided we are going to continue to sail. While we will miss the glaciers, we've been to Alaska twice before and the glaciers are just one part of the beautiful scenery.
  15. Yes - Glaciers are cancelled for the remainder of the Alaska season for Quantum.
  16. They may not allow that as it's considered an extension cord. I had them take and hold one that had a 1-foot cord and four power outlets without a circuit breaker.
  17. The issue is with the engine and has been known and discussed here for a while. There was a posting earlier saying they were starting repairs this week so we were still hopeful that it would be resolved by the time we sailed. For the August 29th sailing they said this: Due to speed limitations caused by a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines, instead of visiting Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier, we’ll visit Juneau on Friday, with a little extra time to explore this beautiful destination. For September 5th, it was this. Due to speed limitations caused by a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines, we’ve replaced our visit to Icy Strait Point, Alaska with Ketchikan, Alaska. Additionally, instead of visiting Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier on Friday, we’ll have a full day in Juneau, Alaska.
  18. Just received an email from Royal Caribbean that the Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier were removed from our August 29th itinerary, and that Icy Strait Point has been replaced with a port visit to Ketchikan and Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier were removed and that we'll have a full day in Juneau instead. The email went on to say --- To help make up for these changes, we’re providing you with an onboard credit: $75 USD for Interior and Ocean View staterooms $100 USD for Balcony staterooms $200 USD for Suites Your credits will be available for you once onboard and can be used anywhere on the ship. If you have a remaining amount left over at the end of the cruise, it will be refunded to your card on file.
  19. Yes, on Solstice they could be. on Reflection as well.
  20. I would say ‘Nay’ The UDP’s break even point is four to five drinks per day .. add to that your four Diamond drinks and you are looking at 8-9 drinks per day.
  21. The current proctored test you are required to wait 15 minutes after inserting the swab.
  22. That’s normal and nothing to worry about.
  23. Loving your review and your writing style. My wife and I will be on Quantum in 32 days and your review is really helping us decide what we want to do and see.
