Verizon Int'l plan is $10/day almost everywhere except Mexico and Canada where it's $5/day. Of course it's free with some plans. If you are being charged, it's per 24-hour period that starts when you activate a local connection. If you keep your phone on airplane mode and wifi you will not be charged. Note that when on the ship, the ship's connection takes over and you will be charged higher rates for cellular service. The Verizon rates are land based only.

Mini bar price list? Aqua class Eclipse Macallan 12 / Coca Cola
CaribbeanBound replied to zitsky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
That's actually an interesting question. I'm willing to walk to one of the ships bars to get a drink so I've always asked the cabin attendant to empty the fridge on day one. That way we can't get charged and it frees up space for anything we wish to store. Sure would be funny if it turned out these items were free! -
Flying fish and the green flash at sunset!!
CaribbeanBound replied to mcroadman's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Never seen it on a boat. Saw it twice at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu over a period of 30 years. I framed the picture of the first green flash I saw. -
We get 2 to 3 emails per day. I really wish they would quit spamming us. One email a week (unrelated to a scheduled and paid cruise) is plenty!

Alexander Keith brewery is worthy.

...As opposed to second hand smoke (am I right?)

You can usually avoid the hefty resort fees by using hotel points for your stay if you happen to have enough.
-
Well, at an average contribution of $10 each, that's a hefty $650 Million collection to help rebuild Maui.

Just figure in the extra crowds and hang loose. Enjoy the Friday night Fireworks in front of the Hilton Hawaiian. Good vantage points from Magic Island (Ala Moana Beach Park) without the crowds. Hike Diamond Head on Saturday or Sunday morning. Plan to arrive when they open at 6am.

Boston Old Town Trolley Access at Ship
CaribbeanBound replied to Tall22's topic in Canada/New England
Google maps is great. Download a city map of Boston before arrival and you can use it to get around using your GPS without using data or wifi. -
Boston Old Town Trolley Access at Ship
CaribbeanBound replied to Tall22's topic in Canada/New England
I would go to their website and get a map of all of the stops. You can save yourself a long wait if you are willing to walk to the stop before the port. -
Can You Get Maps in the Canada and US Ports?
CaribbeanBound replied to tring's topic in Canada/New England
Although getting online ahead of time is still a good idea as suggested above, to answer OP question: Yes, most of these ports have a map of the immediate area, either as an advertising-sponsored folded pamphlet or placemat. You can also download Google maps of each city to your phone. GPS will work even in airplane mode and without the need for data or wi-fi. -
Agree, you can take the Silver Line bus SL2 from South Station to Drydock Avenue stop which is within a 5 minute walk of the cruise terminal. Cost is $2.40. You can catch the Silver Line bus SL1 for free FROM the airport to South Station and switch to get on the T to any other Metro T line for free (if you don't exit the building). You can also change to the SL2 bus (you will get off at Silver Line Way, cross over from the inbound side to the outbound side track and get on an SL2 Bus. The fare for the SL2 bus is $2.40). Otherwise, it's a 14 minute walk (0.6 miles) from Silve Line Way if you don't want to wait on the SL2 bus. Do this in reverse at the end of the cruise. $2.40.

Yup, that could do it. Same company.

Agree, once Maui welcomes tourists again, docking in Kahului is the natural replacement for tendering off Lahaina. In the meantime, overnights in Honolulu (Oahu), Nawiliwili (Kauai), and both Kona and Hilo (Big Island) are the most likely substitutions. All of these are enjoyable for overnighters.
-
Yes, the current situation needs to come under control first, but it shouldn't be excessively long before additional air service will come online to service Kapalua Airport for easy access to Kapalua and Kaanapali. Kahului could naturally substitute as a full docking port for the ships previously tendering off Lahaina. Once Maui starts welcoming back visitors, there is still lots to see and do on the island.

Polynesian Cultural Center: DIY or Cruise Line?
CaribbeanBound replied to disneyochem's topic in Hawaii
Those are helpful notes. To my knowledge the luau is the buffet now. It's been like this for about a decade. You have a large window of time to enjoy the buffet prior to the start of the show. -
There is a HUGE ongoing Thread on this topic.

Outstanding!
