  1. Agree - I guess it was nice while it lasted. One thing that came out of Covid shut-down I am sorry to see go 😄
  2. Apple or Garmin? If Garmin - how did you get around it? It was logging the movement (I guess GPS tracking???) when we were walking on the outdoor track. Maybe we need to turn off the mapping or something?
  3. For tracking fitness - be aware that if you are jogging / walking - it also tracks the ship's movement. So your 3 or 4 mile walk or jog may wind up being a 24 mile walk or jog 🙂 (ask me how I learned this) If you are in a contest with some friends, you'll win 😁
  4. We have a 4 night cruise in February. There is one sea day and 2 ports days. There are 4 wine tastings (along with scotch and other tastings) available to book. I am assuming they do not actually hold all of these? I've not done a cruise with only one sea day before. How does it really work? Will they see which are most popular and cancel the ones that don't get many people? Will they then ask us if we want to move to the (one?) they do hold? If I sign up for 2 (assuming they hold 2 and one is on a port day or at same time or back to back with the other - can we cancel one? I'm assuming they don't schedule it in the middle of they day on a port day? Thanks everyone!
  5. I'm not sure how they did it on mine. I had them do it for the behind the scenes tour which was sold out, but whatever they did (cancel/rebook or just adjust the price) - they were able to keep me in the tour. I had used OBC to pay so there was no credit card involved on my transaction. The difference appeared on my OBC. This was on a past sailing - not this current promo.
  6. I've seen this discount happen on this tour when I have had it booked too. Rather than cancel and re-book - just call then or go in to the chat. They can discount it for you, and then you don't risk it being sold out when you try to re-book.
  7. Guess this delay means we can look forward to more "our Biggest Cyber Monday sale has been extended" emails 🤪
  8. We booked a guarantee cabin on a Galapagos cruise on the Flora for October. I signed on today to see if by chance we have a room assigned (doubted it this early) or what rooms are still open. It looks like this cruise is sold out now, and we do not have a cabin assigned. Question is -- when you book a guarantee cabin - do you ever not get a cabin and they "bump" you? Or do they just wait until closer to time and then assign you something? I'm not real worried about which cabin as they are all good on this ship. I'm just wondering if there's a chance we get "bumped" if they have now oversold.
  9. Hi - we disembark in Miami (cruise is in Feb) and I have checked that there are 6 other cruise ships in port that same day. Unsure if they are coming or going. But the question is -- would this really impact being able to get a taxi? Unsure how the terminal is set up, so don't know if it is one big line for all passengers or if the lines are spread out based on where the ships may be. We have a flight at 1PM so may not be much concern as we are set to dock at 7. Can pre-book a car or take ship shuttle if there could be an issue, but normally just take a taxi or ride share service. Oh - we are on Celebrity if that makes any difference. Thanks!
  10. They always seem to have Tabasco. Others are hit/miss. Sometimes they may have Sriracha. If you feel like you want to bring something - I would bring it in a sealed bottle.
  11. Does it start with a C and end with an O? we are pretty close to Elite plus. Maybe this is where it actually helps 😁
  12. Nice - that's good! You have a very good TA or got a really nice rep on the phone!!
  13. So it sounds like my understanding is correct, and that maybe Celebrity is thinking people who jump in and book really quickly without reading the fine prints are going to just pay a lot more and think "refundable deposit" means "fully refundable"
  14. So did you have the refundable deposit booked? Or were you moving to the same ship/itinerary just a different date? I think that's allowed, but a different ship or different itinerary = the 100 penalty.
  15. Hi all - I was browsing the other day and pricing out the refundable vs non-refundable deposit options for Retreat class. Deposit is 900 and with the refundable deposit, it ups the price by 1398 for the sailing I was looking at. From what I can tell given current rules - the ONLY difference is if you cancel prior to final payment, you get your deposit back with the refundable deposit. They have the same fee schedule for cancellation prior to final payment. If you cancel prior to final payment with the non-refundable, you pay a $100 penalty/person then get the rest back in FCC. So you lose only $200 really unless you just don't plan on taking another cruise. Am I misunderstanding this???? I must be as there would really be no reason (to me) to pay $1200 more if the only difference is you lose $200 with non-refundable given that I would still most likely plan to take another cruise in the future. Can someone explain it better if I have misunderstood? Thanks!!
  16. Nope - also did not get a "thanks for registering" - it just took me straight into watching. I did take a screenshot of the screen at the end that said I had watched it.
  17. Possibly. You can ask to be added to a waitlist. Sometimes people cancel. If you are on a waitlist, and space opens, they start contacting people on the list. If you are in a suite - there is a good possibility. Ask the Retreat concierge, and they may be able to get you in. You can call now or when onboard.
  18. On the Apex, they told us not to count on all the pieces being in any game. So to be sure - bring your own.
  19. Practical? I think on the older ships, where the kids club is a small room - yes. They could easily convert the space to something else. On the newest ships - probably not so much. In terms of would people sail - I think yes, on the smaller ships. On the newer ones - I don't think they could fill them up in the summer months. Now if you are also asking is there a market for adults only - yes, I believe there is, but not for the entire fleet. Do they NEED to switch to adults only? Probably not. I've never seen that many kids on X. I have no issues with kids being around if they are well behaved. I also have no issue with adults being around, if they are well behaved. I would not care to sail on Carnival for many reasons, which do not include the kids onboard. I think the very few kids I have ever encountered on Celebrity have been well behaved - I think the parents probably realized the facilities for kids were limited and knew their kids would still enjoy the cruise / what was offered and chose that ship anyway. Some kids are OK to read, play cards, listen to music on their phone/tablet and others need to have a surf pool, zip line, run whatever. Parents can choose a cruise line to suit their child's activity level. Most of these lines also have some adult spaces (casino, bars, so they can do "kid" things with their child, drop them at camp, and still have both family and adult time). Those that want a more "adult" atmosphere - avoid those ships with lots of facilities geared for kids. Should not be a big issue. There's something for everyone.
  20. We self-reported on a 14 day cruise, and was sent to deck 6 on the day we were to disembark on that cruise. We quarantined in our original room as deck 6 was full. When we docked, we were moved to deck 6, but not until later in the day. The reason your key cards were probably still on deck 6 was they needed more rooms than they thought. Maybe they had planned to put you in your original rooms, but then could not as they needed to move more covid quarantine passengers from the previous cruise onto deck 6 (ie some people who self reported tested positive last minute or they needed to take quarantine people out of their rooms and move them so they upgraded other deck 6 passengers to another deck). When they deal with testing / moving the covid people - it takes AGES. They tell you they are sending someone "up to your room now" - and then it takes several hours". it could be the general guest relations number you called had no idea why your room keys were still there when your kids were upgraded to another deck. When you get put in quarantine - you are given a specific number to call for whatever you need while there. They actually DO provide fairly decent amenities in quarantine, including a refund of your original fare from the time you test positive. We were put on the cruise after ours (a 12 day) for free. When we got out of quarantine, we were moved to a balcony cabin on another deck - still free. And there will ALWAYS be selfish people who won't self-report, regardless of what is offered. You could tell people they will be put in a suite with specialty restaurant delivery and free movies (we had tons of movies) - and I guarantee you that won't make them self-report. They are just going to not miss their vacation. When we got out of quarantine - we heard numerous people literally say " I had a cough, sore throat, and headache for 3 days - it was allergies".
  21. If you've every played bingo or Deal or No Deal - that also counts as casino play since it is administered through the casino .
  22. I would suggest these options for anyone wanting coffee without leaving the room A) ask your cabin attendant or butler if they can bring you a coffee maker when you meet them on day 1. B) If that's not an option - maybe a kettle + instant coffee is an option. I was able to get a kettle + tea when we were in quarantine in a regular room after being in a suite - so even in a regular room, a kettle is available. C) if you don't want to pre-order coffee -- we ordered coffee only (no food) when we woke up several mornings in both regular cabins and in a suite. In the suite, it was really fast service (about 10 minutes of ordering).
  23. Thanks for the nice review. We recently booked the Flora for an outer loop trip. If you don't mind - how did you decide inner vs outer loop? From what I have been able to find - it comes down to inner loop has a chance to see the red footed booby and outer loop an albatross. How did you decide? I specifically wanted the veranda as opposed to the infinite veranda - and only was able to book a guarantee veranda. They say this will guarantee us a proper veranda, but they can't tell us which room exactly yet 🙂 I'm guessing there is not a "bad" room on the ship though?
  24. Agree with this - I also never found the water in the aluminum can to taste "tinny" - It tasted fine to me. I had the premium drink package as that's what came with our cruise when we purchased - and would just order "water" and sometimes they would give me the glass bottle, sometimes the aluminum. I didn't notice any difference in taste to be honest.
