  1. We visited Key West via the NCL Dawn last April on a Southern Caribbean cruise. We were happy to get off the ship to go to Sloppy Joe's for lunch and to listen to some live music. We love Key West, and have stayed for a week at a resort there several times. No one was rude or mean to us when we visited in April. In fact, at Sloppy Joe's we had good service, etc. Hope you find a cruise that stops there and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Key West. Just our personal experience.
  2. We prefer the old La Cuccina. Were on the Spirit in September and tried Onda for the first time. Hubby didn't care for their options at all, I preferred the options at La Cuccina as well.
  3. Better to go to guest services the day before disembarkation, not the last morning, as cruiseinfoseeker says he/she did.
  4. Be patient, you are looking at shore excursions (nearly) a year out. More options will show up down the road.
  5. We stayed at the DoubleTree Orlando the night before boarding. Great Restaurants/Bars within walking distance. Had Cortrans (by reservation) pick us up and transport us to Port Canaveral the next morning. Very smooth........
  6. Wind (haven't seen anyone else mention her) Star x3 Dawn x3 Jewel x2 Gem Jade Pearl Spirit Sun Pride of America Getaway Epic
  7. We were on the Dawn the last half of April and the Spirit the first half of September. The gift shops were carrying considerably less merchandise than before Covid. We had a hard time spending OBC/finding things for discounted Lattitudes gifts/souvenirs.
  8. In September, we cancelled a (pre-paid) shore excursion shortly after boarding. Our experience at getting cash back for that cancelled shore excursion surprised me. They told me I could get the cash back on the last full day of the cruise, and we did carry it as a credit balance that whole time. We had no extra charges to offset the credit and had pre-paid our DSC.
  9. The 20% gratuities for the FAS drink and dining packages are added to the cost of your cruise at the time of booking. If you choose those options, it will show up in your total cruise fare to be paid at final payment time. The DSC (Daily Service Charge) is added, daily - after you board the ship to your onboard account. It ranges from $16-$20 PER PERSON per day, depending on the type of cabin you book. If you do not pre-pay the DSC, it will be added each day as a charge to your account. You can still go to the service desk in the Atrium and request little NCL envelopes to use for any additional tips you wish to give to any crew members.
  10. The only way you get the $50 credit per port is if you actually take the tour. At that point it reduces the cost you paid by $50. If you don't spend the money for the tour, no credit is due. Sorry you had a bad experience though.
  11. Well, Mr IronRobi, I've travelled all over the world with my meds - they weren't prohibited anywhere on plane, train, ship, or automobile. We all have to follow the rules. I was only trying to warn people that there were sniffing dogs (sniffing what exactly-I have not clue) in the areas I referenced.. I live in the midwest. My name for certain "drugs" is different than yours. Apologize if your feelings were hurt, I can't help it if you feel the term "dope" is judgemental. That is what I have always called marijuana, guess it has to do with the way I was raised and I can't change that now. You may need to limit your cruise travels until the rules change if it is a problem.
  12. Pardon me, I call illegal or unlawful or forbidden drugs "dope". We take thyroid and blood pressure meds, and I've never been any place they are forbidden.
  13. We returned from an Alaskan cruise on the NCL Spirit , Pier 66, September 12. It was a ten day round trip Seattle. We were thoroughly sniffed by a large German Shepard at either the cruse terminal building or Seattle airport, can't remember which. Wasn't really concerned since we don't do dope.
  14. We have always had binocs in the OS and GV, but they are the bigger , bulky ones. You are better off bringing your favorite pair with you.
  15. Agree with all the above, but if you give US dollars you may get change in Canadian dollars-even though they have no problem taking it.
  16. I believe a 6-Pak per person will be way too much for the majority of folks. We just returned last week from a 10-day on the NCL Spirit. We probably drink more water than many with the drink package, because we drink it with meds several times a day, and in the morning and late evening. The last two cruises we purchased the 6 liter package for $23+change w/ gratuity. Both cruises we left water cartons behind since we also get 2/each of the 1/2 liter cartons as Lattitude amenities. 6-liter bottles per passenger will lead to a lot of leftover cartons sitting around on debark day, IMO.
  17. September 1st, we took a blue & yellow flat rate cab from SeaTac to the Edgewater (at Pier 66). The cost was $45 total (there were two of us), we arrived in 20 minutes or less. The driver was friendly & efficient. We were pleased.
  18. Thank you for your reports. I have enjoyed following them!
  19. Yes, there is a "Captains Cocktail Party" by invitation only. It is held the evening of the first full sea day, usually at 6:30 or 7:00pm. It is a smaller gathering than the Lattitudes Cocktail Party, and it is usually held in the Haven area on the smaller ships, or in a specified Lounge and marked as a private event.
  20. My understanding is that EACH TIME you enter Canada, even through a different port, you need to fill out a new ArriveCAN form. Your Passport and vaccination info is already entered when you set your account up, however the separate ArriveCAN form is required each time you enter. I have read that on either the Alaska Board or the West Coast Ports Board.
  21. Thank you BSR. That is pretty much what I assumed, but had not heard anyone report on actually experiencing this new activity. I was not inferring that they were "serving rotten food" Coastal. Just being realistic that it is food that is being recycled from it's original purpose. I prefer to eat my food and drink my liquor without any food in it except, as herbanrenewal mentioned, with fruit/olives/onions and maybe a stalk of celery. Just my own preference and BSR totally answered my question.
  22. If anyone has done this, how would you describe the sail & sustain beverages offered? I ask this because I have seen drinks listed in the daily's referred to as "sustainable" cocktails. They are made with leftover food (such as yesterday's croissants, etc.) as an ingredient and somehow that does not sound like something that I even want to try. Yuck. I would hate to waste a spot someone else could book if that is the case, since I would have to abstain.
  23. We sail September 1st. We received ours in the mail today, about 30 days out .
