  1. I met singles and couples at bars. I tend to stick to one or two bars and the bartender is my new friend by the end of the week. Sometimes you want to share a memory with someone but I never feel lonely.
  2. This was possible after restart when ships were not sailing near or at capacity. As capacity has increased, I have not heard of any onboard upgrades.
  3. I believe it's tied to RC Casino Royale Program, which makes perfect sense.
  4. I called and was advised it's $10 pp per day to move up from the category on your offer. My offer was a regular balcony. AQ is 2 categories up so $20. The rep also did the math on a regular casino offer AQ vs this offer AQ with added extra (premium drink package, premium wiFI and tips) and the two prices were the same.
  5. Thank you, my cruise is in March. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask about the $10 a day price.
  6. Is it $10 pp per day or $20 pp per day to upgrade to Aqua class? or is the cost determined by A1 or A2? I paid $20 pp to upgrade to A1
  7. Ships don't have to sail at full capacity for Celebrity to breakeven. I know on RC the breakeven point is less than 50% on their bigger ships and higher on smaller and older ships. I would imagine Celebrity is similar. There is no advantage for a couple to book a suite and inside room. The person in the inside room wouldn't get the suite benefits and there is probably little savings in doing this. I still don't see the abuse. The few couples who would book two separate rooms is probably low and might have personal reasons to do so. Otherwise, for a couple there is little financial benefit since the cost is the same.
  8. There was never a time since restart that ships were green. They were either yellow or orange. Of course, with more passengers there would be more cases. However, your statement is speculation with no documented factual information. Doesn't matter where refunds are handled, the process should be more efficient not less efficient. Programs tend to improve from initial roll out based on tweaking inefficiencies. Anyone can recognize there is a problem is it starts to deteriorate.
  9. Where is the abuse of the promotion? If sharing a room you pay double the price. Therefore, Celebrity would get the same revenue if two people shared a room or each had separate connecting rooms. The bottom line for Celebrity is the number of reservations and revenue. TBH it would seems like the promotion is successful because of the number of reservations. There is no way for Celebrity to tell who is traveling together unless reservations are linked. Even then it has no bearing on the relationship of individuals. There was no 60% off the 2nd guest per se. If you selected 2 guests the price was just doubled what you paid for one.
  10. Go figure, Princess added a premium option and Celebrity took theirs away. I appreciated the few weeks where the website showed 4 different pricing options on one screen.
  11. I agree. If anything it should be more efficient. Omicron peaked in Jan/Feb 2022. I don't see how it would impact anything. Where have you seen there has been an exponential increase in cases? Which ship?
  12. Glad your luggage was found. I take pictures of my bags for identification purposes when I leave them outside the door. I also have an Apple AirTag (https://www.apple.com/airtag/) in all my bags. It''s not perfect but it's a great start if my bag goes missing. The air tag works with iPhone and Android phones.
  13. The S1 is significantly higher now. I may have gotten lucky. I caught the price around 12 AM, which is when I find the most deals. Been there and done that with a deck 12 aft corner on the Edge. The worst experience ever. The noise above was all day. Hard to believe these rooms cost more. You couldn't give me a cabin for free under the Oceanview Cafe again.
  14. Thank you for all the replies. I was expecting more votes for Apex because it's newer but replies are fairly equal between the two. I know it's hard to compare two different stateroom categories. The AQ class price is the same on both ships with the Elevate package. However, for some reason a suite on the Reflection was a small upgrade, which made the decision harder. I'll probably go with Reflection since she departs on a Sunday. I can save a vacation day with a pre cruise stay on a Sat vs a Friday.
  15. There are three different balcony guarantees on Oasis class. Online it will say oceanview guarantee, neighborhood guarantee or just guarantee. If you only see guarantee or one option it's usually the neighborhood guarantee. They are all different categories. I believe category XN is neighborhood.
  16. I found ridiculously low single fares on both in Dec. The Apex is a AQ stateroom. For $200 more I can get a S1 suite (deck 12 not corner) on the Reflection. A Caribbean itinerary on both and I've been to all islands except Key West, which is on Apex's itinerary. Airfare and pre hotel are comparable. I've been on Equinox and Edge but not the Reflection or Apex. I prefer bar options on S Class but like the new stateroom decor and technology on the E Class. The Reflection not being Revolutionized is giving me pause.
  17. Hopefully, you booked. I believe this was a pricing error that has sorted it self out. I saw the same on the pricing on a sailing. Always Included and Indulge promotions were the same price and there was only an option for a refundable deposit. The summary screen showed Indulge package and I paid the deposit. However, on the invoice the promotion was Always Included and not Indulge. Customer service was not able to add the Indulge promotion even after escalating to a supervisor and long hold. I was able to book the Elevate package with $150 OBC for $150 more than Always package. I see now the cruise price has increased over $1K more, the Indulge package is more and there is an option for a non refundable deposit.
  18. I was in an aft suite on the Edge and can answer the first 3 with one word; noisy. The noise was constant all day. I actually paid more this room. Never again on deck 12 for me.
  19. It shows how much Celebrity doesn't care. How hard would it be to update stock pictures? I'm sure pictures are plentiful. The Reflection has not been revolutionized and suites are called the Retreat. This one may be hard to program but there can be a disclaimer somewhere. RC does the same thing. I was looking at a sample menu for a restaurant that is not on the ship.
  20. There is no extension to CWC. It ends Sept 2022. I'm hoping Celebrity will extended it to the end of 2022. I have Oct and Nov cruises. Cruise with Confidence applied to sailings booked by 3/31/22 and sail by 9/30/22 https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-with-confidence The Covid assistance that had been in place ended with 4 30 22 sailing and there is a policy effective 5/1 https://www.celebritycruises.com/content/dam/celebrity/pdf/cel-covid-19-cancellations-and-refunds-policy.pdf I understand CWC ends in Sept. I'm hopeful Celebrity will extend it past Sept as it gets closer to the date. Covid is still a thing regardless if cruise lines wished it wasn't to get back to pre covid operations. I'm sure the Sept 2022 date was put in place thinking things would be more normal by then. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The drop in stock prices across cruise line is a god indicator.
  21. I'm glad the OP and others are doing better. I can survive being isolated for two or three days in a room with no fresh air or interaction with others but anything more seems awful. It's like being in solitary confinement. Unfortunately, this is why people will choose not to self report. I understand Celebrity is a business and needs to sell as many cabins as possible for financial gain but they can do better with caring about the mental health of passengers. From what I read, on Princess quarantine is in a balcony stateroom. Is this not possible on Celebrity? Maybe CWC will be extended until the end of 2022 to give everyone choices.
  22. Cruises will only sail as full as the number of people who are willing to book. Summer months and holiday cruises will probably have higher capacity but off season will be more than likely remain less than capacity. There were some sailings that had less than 1k passenger. Was this capacity controlled or people not booking? I don't recall seeing any ships with gaps in sailing dates because they were taken out of inventory for meeting an undisclosed capacity limit.
  23. I agree the Promenade has a lot going on at times but the Schooner Bar and Boleros are at two different ends of the Promenade and different levels (one upstairs and one downstairs). I have not experienced the music from either venue being drowned out by the other. There are two other music venues closer to Boleros than Schooner Bar, which can probably be heard in Boleros. I have an upcoming cruise on the Allure. The times listed in the app for Cafe Promenade is 6am to 2am. Sorrento's Pizza is opened to 2am as well. There is no 24 hour dining option as you mentioned.
  24. Excited to be on the Discovery Princess 3rd sailing. I am trying a live review for the first time. Join me on the journey and ask questions. I’ll try to find the answers to questions. If you wan to see a picture of something specific let me know. I don’t like cruise ship production shows and probably won’t see any. If AJ Jamal is the comedian, I will go to his show. I’ve seen him on Celebrity, Royal and Princess and think he is really funny. Background Since restart, I’ve been on Carnival Mardi Gras first sailing, Celebrity Edge, Oasis of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas. I mention this only because I may add a few comparisons throughout the week. The Mardi Gras is the first Carnival ship I enjoyed in a while. The Symphony of the Seas was the worst of all the sailings. RC did a poor job of communicating this would be a subpar experience with a lack of services due to a COVID outbreak the week before. Celebrity is always a winner. I originally booked Celebrity Apex for this week with a friend. I had a once in life time lift and shift price. Final payment was due in January. My friend decided to cancel when Omicron hit. Since I already had the week off from work, I decided to look for a different cruise and stumbled upon this one. What I overlooked when booking was this is Easter week and the return date is Easter Sunday. I am expecting more people on this sailing. With the exception of interior staterooms, everything was sold out. I’m not sure if this sold out on regular capacity or sold out on Princess’s limited capacity. Time will tell. This is my second Princess cruise. I did the same Mexican Rivera itinerary on the Royal Princess in Dec 2019. My last cruise before the shutdown. I usually sail the Caribbean and was surprised how cold the first day and last return day are on this itinerary. I needed a winter coat in December. I’m hoping for a bit warmer weather in April. On this cruise, I booked a mini suite on the Aloha deck and added Premium Plus as a solo. There was no single supplement. My mother needed a break and last minute I added her to the reservation. The additional cost was taxes/port charges and an extra $200. Unless there is no single supplement, I didn’t think the price would change. I paid it and moved on. Last minute airfare was almost half the cost of the cruise.
