  1. No, I don't have to square this up with the Spanish government; I have zero problem with them charging VAT. It's your suggestion that purchasing so ething in a shore-side store and paying the VAT is much the wame as presenting cruise passengers with an adxitional VAT charge when the believed they had already paid all the taxes, service charges, etc.... If a cruise line does not intend to absorb VAT on goods and services paid for onboard, they chould clearly identify this to the passengers in advance.
  2. Well, yes. I sort of agree with you on the first part but the difference between the store on shore and NCL is that people had it in kind that they've already paid everything for their drink when they purchased the free at sea package; not quite the same as making a shore-side purchase.
  3. No, it likely isn't. Perhaps you should consider arranging for a limousine transfer; it will probably end up costing you about £150 but, for sure, easy and safe. https://www.blacklane.com/en/
  4. Safest would likely be a hired/limousine service. Are you up for a metro and train combination to move you from LHR to Greenwich Novotel? @Globaliser may be able to provide some guidance on this.
  5. I use the Ultimate Currency Exchange (east end at Gloucester Centre). Here is their website: https://uexchange.ca/
  6. No doubt. I use a foreign currency exchange outlet nearby me (in Ottawa) that can provide me with just about anything with 24 hours notice; the exchange rate is at least 2% less than my local bank (which does not mail/deliver cash). So, since I have to go somewhere to get my foreign currency, I usually avoid the bank(s). I do understand that many travelers don't have these available choices.
  7. I'd take C224 or C228; port side for (maybe) a better view of Cape Horn, somewhat forward on Caribe deck to get larger balcony without paying for a 'premium' balcony. Great trip.
  8. I take it you're referring to Olympic Gold medals; those games were played in the United States, so the outcomes should be viewed with suspicion....
  9. The person who wants the A/C on while the window is down is in for a disappointment. Keeping the folding doors closed may help prevent abrupt temperature changes but that is about it.
  10. Sort of like 40 years ago or more, then natural born Americans learned to play hockey.
  11. Right.... hence your need to go through security, which doesn't apply to the OP's transit through YYZ.
  12. Excursions first thing in the morning are typical. I don't know where you're going but if it's in the northern hemisphere you should expect it to be getting a little darkish late in the afternoon... not the best time for finishing up excursions.
  13. The OP is taking an Air Canada domestic flight from Alberta and connecting, at YYZ, with an international Air Canada flight (not to USA). Did you do something similar or did your travel originate in YYZ?
  14. Hardly. The list of things you itemized happen nearly all the time or are otherwise pretty easy/straightforward to accomplish.
  15. Sometimes... it sort of depends on the weather and access to outdoor pools. Usually around 1600 to 1800; Solarium seldom in great demand on part of adult cruisers who have hied off to bars, dining room or bed.
  16. Whoa.... not so fast! There's still the issue of the non-alcoholic drinks not appearing in a timely fashion and what should be done to remedy/address this.
  17. I say 'No, thank you.'; seems to work. Never experienced the problem(s) you're describing.
  18. Maybe you should consider the Hop On Hop Off. Stop 3 is at the Blue Horizon Hotel. IMO, a pretty good use of the time you have and fairly convenient for leavin/retrieving luggage and making your way to the cruise terminal. Plans may change depending on latest boarding time Princess permits. https://westcoastsightseeing.com/hop-on-and-hop-off/
  19. Where are you staying in Vancouver? Your plans/activities may change depending on whether you can leave your luggage with the hotel for the day or if you need to make your way to the cruise terminal to drop things off.
  20. I believe the cruise is Vancouver to Victoria (spend day in Vic) to SF. So, CBP will be upon arrival in SF.
  21. Your choice of course. Here is a list of some hotel chains that still do not always offer free in-room wifi: Fairmont Hotels Hilton Hotels Marriott Hotels Ritz-Carlton Hotels Starwood Hotels.
  22. Calculation of interest on different sorts of loans and terms.
  23. For sure. We recently returned from Spain and pretty much everywhere we used our credit card the option of paying in CAD was presented. I told my wife don't ever do this, just choose the local currency. I have traveled extensively and I don't recall experiencing this so much in the past; a nice little income stream.
