It's a bit of a stretch but if the IV window is left down a sweeping wind and rain event could blow water into the cabin. Of course, by then, all the windows ought to have been raised by the bridge officer to make sure that doesn't happen.
I like the IV cabins on Edge class but I choose and book them myself; the first time I was on Edge, I booked a cabin on deck 6 forward; it was located above the theatre and was noisy in the afternoons and evenings. Further aft may not be much better. If you bid on an IV you may not end up much 'better' off than the Oceanview cabin. It will be entirely subjective and not predictable.
Yup, count me in. My preference is verandah 'classic' but if the dates and itineraries I'm interested in call for Edge class ship, that's perfectly OK for me.
We were there in April; the guest elevators were being refurbished (nearly complete at that time). Service elevator was available for guest use and, overall, we had zero problems. Did not see any preparation for additional refurbishment.
PVSA applies to passenger vessel operations in the United States; nothing to do with citizenship of passengers.
I am surprised you could not add on the round trip cruise.
You wouldn't be permitted to add the Vancouver to Seward leg but the round trip from/to Vancouver is a permissible addition; what, exactly, did you try to do?
I guess things changed over the period January to April. We were on the Ascent transatlantic and the A/C is definitely off when the window is down no matter the state of the bifold doors.
