Laundry

We have been so used to getting free laundry and dry cleaning when we sail in a Neptune Suite on HAL, we are going to miss it, what choices are there? Are there on board washers and dryers? Are there any deals for laundry or dry cleaning?

No self service laundry onboard RCI ships. You can utilize the laundry service on board. Usually there is a mid week bag of laundry deal for wash/fold items.

The last time we did laundry on one of RC ships, it cost us $25 for a very small bag. You have to learn how to stuff it in that small bag that they provided to you. :) We mainly stuffed T-shirts, underwear, socks, and anything that's cotton into that small bag. See site below for list of prices they charge for dry clean, etc...

According to your posting history, you live in Fort Lauderdale and will be doing a weeklong sailing on Allure. Since you do not have to worry about flying and airline luggage fees, wouldn't it be easier and more cost-efficient to bring enough outfits for the week so you do not have to do laundry onboard? You could even iron everything ahead of time, and if you pack it carefully, it will arrive unwrinkled, especially since it will be in your luggage for a short time.

We used RCCL laundry on last cruise similar to Hal, but it was about 25 for the bag. But in general much prefer suite perks on RCCL over Neptune perks on Hal, free drinks in concierge , reserved seating for shows, breakfast is similar, normally in chops .

I read something a while ago about using the laundry service where you could cram everything into a small bag for one set price (in which case it gets washed with everyone else's laundry, I think) or you could have your own bag with just your items at a per item price. Is this correct?

There is a wash & fold bag for $35. All you can stuff in the bag, but limited to underwear, socks, t-shirts, shorts, pajamas.

Any idea if those items have to be adult sized? We've never used the wash and fold bag before, but hoping to take advantage of it next cruise when we'll be travelling with 9 month old DD. We'll obviously be able to cram a lot more of her clothes in the bag than our own, so not sure whether this would be allowed!

absolutely permitted and in fact very cost effective since 9 month olds tend to go through 15 outfits a day between accidents burping incidents and just plain messy eating.

however,be advised that they are washed in a mesh bag in water the temperature of the sun then dried over a volcano. no fabric softener and using industrial grade detergent. if baby has very sensitive skin, this may not be a smart move.

Last summer, on Celebrity, we did the wash and fold bag. Two days later we got some of our laundry back, but had other people’s laundry mixed in with it. It took until the last do of the cruise for them to locate all of my stuff. [emoji35][emoji44]

They don't care about the size of the items, just whether they are the right type and they all fit in the bag.

Hmm, good point! Will give it some more thought! Thanks for your reply (thank you Clarea, too).
