Rare Ken the cruiser Posted April 1, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2018 I've been reading a lot of negative comments on CC lately regarding the Regatta and was wondering if anyone knew when she was going to dry dock again? With the new Winter 2019 and Spring 2020 schedule coming out, we are starting to question whether or not to book a cruise on the Regatta if she's having issues? We asked our O PCC a few months ago about its status and see said she would check, but never got back with us.
Cruseforme Posted April 1, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2018 Last I heard, was April ‘19, but someone else may have more info. Last refurb was in ‘14, so about every 5 years.
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted April 1, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted April 1, 2018 (edited) Thanks! It looks like the Regatta will be in Miami from 4/17/19 to 5/1/19. So unless it has been contracted out, that could be a possibility. Edited April 1, 2018 by Ken the cruiser

socalftdoc Posted May 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2018 We got 'stuck' on the Regatta when there was a power failure on the ship.. Incidentally. we were 10 miles out of Honolulu and we had to be towed back to port. Bottom line avoid this ship . Furthermore, avoid Oceania. Thanks for asking this question and finding an answer! We too have been concerned about the poor reviews Regatta has been receiving. The timing issues I have read about are one thing, but ship maintenance is another. We are looking at the Panama Canal cruise that starts May 1 so it looks like we would be in the first group of passengers after the refurbishing. I guess the concern would be if the cruise might be delayed if it isn't ready yet. Not sure how often that happens... Did your contact happen to make any comments about that? We just received Oceania's "The Tropics 2018 - 2020" fancy-dancy booklet (dark teal cover). On p. 23, there is a cruise scheduled on the Regatta during the period being discussed. It's Caribbean Daydreamer, Miami to Miami, and is a 14 day, starting April 17, 2019. Same as on the O website. We were on the Regatta for most of March this year (Bali to Honolulu) and have more than a passing interest in checking the accuracy of the dry-dock info out there. Maybe we'll hear from the only person who knows for sure. :') ~ Linda

Rare RachelG Posted July 31, 2018 #12 Share Posted July 31, 2018 We were on Regatta in June, and the ship was in top condition. And I say that as someone who regularly cruises on Regent and Silversea.

Rare PaulMCO Posted August 1, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2018 Everything is subjective. On her in December and January and our opinion she was in dire need of a dry dock.
marieps Posted August 1, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 1, 2018 We will be taking our first Oceania cruise on Regatta Nov. 1, 2019 so we are very happy to hear about the DD plans. For a previous poster asking, we were on Celebrity Xpedition immediately after her dry dock an 2012 and she was no where near ready. The had booked suites that weren't even built yet, and had to put those passengers in rooms downgraded several categories. The outdoor bar was closed, and we had to beg the captain to open the hot tub. Celebrity made it right with a very generous refund. Considering that trip (Galapagos) is all about the adventure and not the ship, we were satisfied.

marieps Posted August 7, 2018 #18 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Regatta sails 10 days in Alaska August 27, 2019 R/T from Seattle, and next sails Sept 24th from Seattle to Miami. It would appear the DD will occur in the Pacific NW. A poster on another thread found an investor slide show which indicates Oceania will spend $25 mil per R class ship on dry docks, $15 mil each more than usual. This is expected to be announced in a splashy presentation next week. Please see the Oceania NEXT thread for details.

Regatta's first NEXT enhanced sailing will take her to Miami from Seattle. 9/24/19. https://spark.adobe.com/page/3HKqpGAbu9FcV/ Speaking from past experience on an Azamara 'R' ship ... the cruise following an extensive refurb was a nightmare. Work crews remained onboard ... working throughout the night = LOTS of noise ... several public areas partially or completely closed ... construction materials tucked away in corners of the pool deck ... etc. Hoping that 'O' does a better job of finishing these refurbs on time - before the first "NEXT Enhanced" sailings. The same thing happened to us sailing on the first cruise after a dry dock on Celebrity Xpedition. Luckily the ship is not the star of that adventure. We did get a large refund back from Celebrity.
