Not going to waste my time reading this entire thread.. I'm sure this has been said but this comparison is ridiculous. I know the second poster compared cars. This thread is like comparing my 90 Ford bronco to my present day 2010 GMC Yukon. If its over priced then don't go.

I know I read somewhere that this is by design.

I know in a "new store" you pump up the help. On a ship, pumped up help would need to stay somewhere. So instead of pumped up help, it makes sense to hold down passage, and not sail to capacity as the kinks are worked out.

It would then make sense to also put pumped up help in the "empty cabins".

You are correct -- Royal is holding back some cabins and the ship will not sell out. They did the same thing when Freedom was introduced.

Gordon posted this and additional information on the Oasis board:

Oh for Pete's sake!!!! Of course it is more expensive than other cruises offered. Its a brand new, biggest ever, cruise ship that cost an amount way beyond imagine. The idea is that the people will cruise Oasis to enjoy all that is offered onboard. The ports are few and the typical E. Carib stops. I think it would take 7 days at sea just to explore all of its nooks and crannies. I really want to book a cruise next year just to enjoy that big, beautiful ship. I just hope that they have a great casino so that I can win back what I paid:D

Happy cruising.

And a zipline, Aqua Theater, Boardwalk, Central Park....and lots of other stuff only on Oasis. Of course the prices will be high, especially considering the sailing you chose to compare it with was its 2nd 7NT revenue sailing. Its a one of a kind ship, and those wanting to sail on it will have to pay extra to be one of the first to experience it.

I will pass on all that stuff.......I want to sail on a ship.....not a Menagerie....:D

I second that,

I would change our RFS, and pay the extra $10,000.

Just to do it from here.

And I'll third it!;) But BigTex you got it wrong on the BluRay, my brother bought one of the first units out 3 years ago...price tag...$1000! In just over 3 years they have gone down to almost a 10th of the original price!

Now as to JJ's pricing:rolleyes: Why pick a holiday month when the fares are escallated anyway? Oh, yeah, the agenda! I'm going in September in a D8 for $889.

my question is , are they going to continue bulding the biggest ship , because if they do , they will rise the price and honestly I m ok wit the freedom and liberty LOL

HUH??? the Oasis is built already and currently sailing across the north Atlantic and will arrive in Florida in a few days.

thank you for taking the time to post the prices

it is all about supply and demand.

i am going on OAsis 10-2010

i picked that date as the price was in my budget/

i cruise often and can because I do not pick the most expensive cabin

once i am on the ship i do not spent that much time in the cabin.

prefer an inside so i can cruise more often.

it is all choices we make.

I got a better price on a 9 day Celebrity crusie on 12-2009

but then ot is an older ship

i enjoy crusiing and the experience.

i just took a 4 day Labor day cruise on QM2 and paid abnout the

same as i will pay on celebrity cruise.

personally i rather get an afforable cabin and go more often

It is supply and demand that setermines the price.

Voyageur and all those ships were pricey when they first came out.

i think and know the prices will have to fall soon

as they are building a sister ship and come on with the economy the way it is

it will be tough to fill a ship every week.

.so may cruise lines and ships so much competition. Vacation is not

a necessary part of life like food shelter clothes.

the people (us) control the supply and demand as to what we are willing to pay.

same as a sporting event. where prices are insane

thansk for letting me weigh in on this topic.

to be perfectly honest i am sailing on Oasis to see her. the itinerary

is nothing great, been there done that i am gonig to see the neoghborhoods

shows eat. pool minature golf trivia

Oh, I don't know if it is overpriced. There are some good prices in the off peak season. Overcrowded, probably so. I kind of thought the Freedom was a little crowded a few weeks ago. We are probably sticking with Radiance and Voyager class from here on.
