Love Boat Dream Posted January 1, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2010 I'm on the Crown right now and our stop at Princess Cays got cancelled. There are high winds and rough seas and the one tender that got put in the water bobbed around like a cork so Capt Nash decided to cancel the port. That's ok. The weather is nice and we have another sea day!
JEH Posted January 1, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Nothing wrong with another sea day. I love them

Rob & Beckys mom Posted January 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2010 We stay onboard the ship anyway, but sorry for the ones that love it . Only time I had fun there was when my grandson was with us. Jan
Rare Coral Posted January 1, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2010 I like Princess Cays. Maybe since I am 20 hours from either ocean and don't get beach days often.

Rare taxatty Posted January 1, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Same thing happened to us on the Ruby 2 weeks ago--it's about 2/3 in our experience making it in December/January to any of the Bahamas tender islands. Princess does add more ship activities when this happens-don't be too concerned. Les
Coolmama_1 Posted January 1, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Princess Cays has been hit and miss with us as well. Enjoy your sea day.
stoneharborlady Posted January 1, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2010 I love a sea day too, but it would definitely be disappointing. A day on Princess Cays is a terrific day for sure. Karen
cantwaitfornextcruise Posted January 1, 2010 #11 Share Posted January 1, 2010 I love sea days but PC is fab IMHO Never mind there will be other cruises with PC on the port list
Langley Cruisers Posted January 1, 2010 #12 Share Posted January 1, 2010 When we were on Emerald last April, the tender lines to go ashore were over an hour long. We decided to stay on ship. Disappointing to say the least, but the day onboard ship was quieter and less congested.
Pam in CA Posted January 1, 2010 #13 Share Posted January 1, 2010 IMHO, Princess Cays is a good sea day no matter what. Sorry for those who are disapointed but having been there twice and hated the crowds, long lines, lack of shade, etc., I just stay onboard for a relaxing day. DrivesLikeMario Posted January 1, 2010 #14 Share Posted January 1, 2010 It's a good thing Crash Nash is playing it safe this time. Believe me, you wouldn't want to be on Princess Cays when it's really windy anyway. We were once and the sand really hurts when it's blowing hard in the wind! Not to mention, the ketchup packets stick to you and sand flies into your burger. :D
merela Posted January 1, 2010 #15 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Princess Cays is nice if you have small children who enjoys playing in the sand. I find it doesn't have enough shaded area for me to park myself there. When it's hot and muggy, you are better off staying on the ship.
kywildcatfanone Posted January 1, 2010 #16 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Last Week on the Crown, we missed Grand Cayman because of weather, and at Princess Cays we had rainstorms most all of the day. I almost got sick on the tenders we were rocking and rolling so much. Mike
Roses2 Posted January 1, 2010 #17 Share Posted January 1, 2010 We are not beach people yet we find Princess Cays interesting. The area outside of the gate leads to some fun local shopping kiosks and then one can walk to the main road through some nice scenery including the estuary. The walk along the beach and the rocks inside the area for a mile or so in either direction uncovers all sorts of intersting vistas. It appears virtually no one walks outside of the area so one can explore without any crowds.
