How many Lifeboats on Oasis?

Each of those lifeboats holds 370 people. Even if there were only 10 per side that's 7400 people. Plus there are inflatable life rafts on each side. Believe me, the Oasis is no Titanic! :D

the lifeboats on the oasis seem to be bigger and look a little more "advanced" than other ships. they fit a lot of people in each one to accommodate the entire ship. does anyone know the details of each lifeboat? amount of fuel gallons, size and horsepower of engines, etc

Doesn't look like enough for 6000 passengers plus the crew?

Only two. Cost cutting, you know.

Seriously, the lifeboats on the smaller ships can hold 150 or more each. Could be Freedom and Oasis class have even larger. Plus, you are counting only the large lifeboats. There are also plenty of liferafts (collapsible; do not necessarily require crew to launch) aboard as well. If the seas were calm and the ship was sinking quickly, I'd probably head to a liferaft rather than a lifeboat.

looking at a picture of the Oasis it looks like there is a total of 16, plus there are numerous inflatables on board...

They have 18 life boats onboard, 9 on each side which can be confirmed by pics as well.

If you are looking at pics with only 8 lifeboats on one side you are looking at pics from the first couple of sailings after the Oasis arrived in FLL from the crossing.

One or two lifeboats had been damaged during the crossing and removed for repairs during those sailings.

yea it was a picture of the port side from the rear... not thinking that they could have been out testing it also while in port...

Often when the ships are docked they are doing some drills, which sometimes include lowering one or more of the boats.

So the pic could either be one where the damaged boat is still missing, or the boat could just be somewhere in the water.

There´s a video published by RCI about the lifeboats on Oasis and states the 18x370 numbers as well.

I don't believe that the two damaged boats have been replaced. I read that it was going to take about six months to replace them. They have added extra life rafts to make up for the two missing boats.

Would those extra life rafts be those rubber mats that they use on Labadee?

Still seems to me that some people will be waiting for the next boat to come along once all the boats are filled and the ship is sinking..Yikes !!!

The damaged lifeboats were the ones right at the front on either side. We saw her at the end of December in St Maarten - one of the very first sailings and they were missing. The hotel director on our ship (Celebrity Constellation) explained what had happened to them.

The lifeboats are huge. Even without any lifeboats at all, there are enough rafts for everyone. Lifeboats are great for many emergencies. But if the ship is listing severely, they can't be deployed. Life rafts can be deployed even if the ship is lying on it's side. The life rafts will even deploy themselves automatically when they go under water.

WOW. Didn't know that. Though I don't think of having to use one much.

It is unlikely that any of us is likely to find out, but worrying about a possibility that is so remote is really more than a little bit foolish and totally unnecessary. If that is all anyone has to worry about in their life they are truly blessed.

Everyone should stop worrying about lifeboats. There is little to no chance that any of us will really need to use one, other than using it for a tender on some ships.

One never knows when an emergency situation is going to happen resulting in the need for lifeboats. Telling someone not to worry about their safetly is not smart. People on the Titanic were told that the ship was unsinkable and we all know what happened.

There is plenty of life saving equipment aboard every ship. There is no need to worry.
