Ship – Explorer

Deck – 6

Stateroom # - 6682

Stateroom Category – Large OV

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – NO!

Cabin abuts large aft crew stairwell. Constant rumbling and vibration feeds up from below. You can actually see the pillows dancing on the bed. Tolerable during day, but while laying down, bed was like a drum beating.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Other comments? They finally changed our cabin on the sixth night of a ten day cruise. This was because the ship was sold out and they were convinced that a no show passenger was not going to catch up with the ship. We were very grateful for that.

Ship - Brilliance of the Seas

Deck - 7

Stateroom # - 7676

Stateroom Category – Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Very back of the ship

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – for the most part. One night we noticed some heavy bass coming from the lounge below but it didn't bother either of us. One night we skipped the show and there was a lot of noise from the cabin stewards cleaning the ice machine. There was a big inspection the next day so they were working hard to be sure everything was shipshape. I imagine there might be some noise in that area on other nights, too, as the laundry is right across the hall from this cabin but we were always out of the room at the show so it never bothered us.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Back of the boat is the BEST view. You have just a broad view. You don't see port when you are docking but when you leave and the ship turns you see the entire view. We loved it.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized. I think the width was the same but it was much deeper than a normal balcony.

Was wind a problem? - No problem at all

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - it was far from the middle elevators but it was still only 150 steps so not bad. As I said, maybe a little noise but none that really bothered us.

Any other comments? - We've never been on the back of the boat but we will do it again. We spent more time on the balcony than ever because we had 2 chaise lounges. You really felt alone with the sea and the stars.

There you go Fi - the second one is a little dark but you get the idea... The connecting door is the one you see at the end of the bed, it didnt impact in any way, and we heard nothing from our neighbours at all (and we knew there were 3 of them as we chatted to them one day over the balcony divider).

Ship - Freedom

Deck -9

Stateroom # -9534

Stateroom Category –Jr Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Port / Forward

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – not totally. Had a strange recurring whistling noise that I assume was due to wind. I could never figure out where it came from. Rattly door with the connecting room. We wedged it with some paper!

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - yes

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – good balcony. View of bridge.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - seemed slightly larger. Room seemed pie shaped and the room seemed slightly larger than our past JS

Was wind a problem? - a little. The aforementioned whistle. Balcony was a bit windy but we had a very windy beginning to our cruise.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - na

Any specific problems with this cabin? - no

Any other comments? - like I mentioned, the living area was slightly larger (we think!) it appeared a bit larger and maybe even pie shaped?
