questions for suite pax who have recently been to Labadee

Recommended Posts

We will be in a GS in Sept. going to stop at Labadee. Do the suite pax at Barefoot Beach get a different lunch set up or the same? Are there any other suite perks than just the beach is reserved only for suite pax? I know about the cabanas and am not interested in those. Thanks for any input. (we are familiar with BF beach itself, as we have been there several times before the change to suite pax only)

We've had a cabana and we did like it. Lunch was just OK as far as I was concerned. Dogs, burgers, shrimp Kabobs, steaks, salad, fruits. The steaks were a bit tough and over cooked. Shrimp was good. They have a lunch set up a bit back from the beach but all very covenient. There were attendants for each cabana that would sweep it out when you went to lunch or in the water. Also brought you drinks if you wanted some. When your enter the beach area you are given a gold wrist band so you and come and go if you wanted to go to other beaches or shop. The rest rooms were outside of the beach area. We loved it and look forward to going in a couple few weeks..

I believe the cabana beach is the only separate buffet area. If you have access to that area without extra charge (cannot remember if suite guests are complimentary or not; D+ have to pay), then I would go over there for lunch.

Otherwise, it's the same buffet as the rest of the pax.

Just off the Liberty. Labadee and BF beach were great!! I didn't see steak. Saw regular BBQ food plus mixed seafood kabobs(shrimp, fish, scallops, and lobster tails. Small bar in the enclosed area. Restrooms right outside. Lots of staff per passengers. We received floating mats and snorkeling gear...not sure if it was free for all or for having the cabana. We (suite guests) met in studio B early and were escorted off the ship by the concierge passing a long line. Big golf-cart like vehicles waiting at end of day to take you back to ship. The only bad part of the day was that the ship didn't arrive till 11a.m.

We were in a GS in March on EOS and loved the Barefoot Beach suite area. We'd do it again if there was a suite available for Nov but we just booked and were lucky to get a balcony. Anyway, the nicest thing about the buffet there is there aren't a lot of people because of the limited number of people with access to the beach. And yeah, the steak was tough. We also had jerk chicken that was really good. But the food all tasted great with 2 labadoozies.

Still trying to find out for sure - If we rent a cabana and have non suite family cruising with us, will they be allowed to join us in the cabana? Has anyone experienced this? Would love to rent a cabana for the day, but not if it means being separate from family.

Quick question -

are the cabanas part of the suite perks? or did you have to pay extra?

thanks

Garren

You have to pay extra. They're $150 and up from what I remember. I think $150 and $175 depending on the cabana and location.

And yes, you tip the attendants. We didnt' have a cabana, our friends did but we used it a little bit. My DH tipped the attendants around $15-20 for their help and because we were in Haiti just a few months after the earthquake.

Supposedly only GS and above are allowed in the beach area, but there is some flexibility with guests. I've heard that others can rent cabanas if there's any left, but I didn't see that on our trip. Two cabanas weren't available anyway due to earthquake damage.

Interesting - thanks for letting me know!

Just off the Liberty. The cabanas were $150-$200. This included $25 tip. The two over-the-water ones that were closed due to earthquake damage(according to a post I read on CC) were open. Don't know if any damage to the hillside ones. I forgot to mention earlier that there is also a cooler with ice and several Evians in the cabana.

How do you book the cabana's in advance..do they show up as part of the excursions for Labadee? Does anyone have any pictures of the cabana's?

Thanks..Karen

You can't book them ahead of time. In fact the concierge approached us in the lounge a couple days out of Labadee asking if we wanted to rent one. We did decide to do it next time we're in a GS or above. We could only get a balcony on EOS this Nov since we just booked a few days ago. There are pictures floating around here and on webshots. Search for Labadee, Haiti and see what pops up. They're basically wooden "porches". They are open, not enclosed area and there are two different sizes. The bigger ones are closer to the water. What they really are is shade and padded seating with an attendant.

The only ones we were told were damaged were the two over the water and the damage was to the support posts that sit in the water. You could actually see where they were cracked.

If the Concierge contacts you prior to the cruise as some do, just let them know that you are interested in one of the cabanas.
