Brunch

I am not a buffet fan- on the Infinity the big brunch was served in the MDR but it was still choas. We went in to check it out but did not stay to eat either time - like I said I just don't care for buffets (they kinda gross me out the way people breathe and paw over all the food) because I am a germaphobe (not because I am a snob - which I am not)

I will say that there were some amazing treats and really good looking stations of soups, chocolate and pastries. So if one likes buffets it would probably be a nice selection!

I am exactly the same way. I am not a snob by any stretch of the imagination but I get queasy when I see how some people behave at buffets. I don't want to say want I have seen with my own eyes because if I did, no one would ever want to eat at buffets again.

personally, and not to rain on anyone's parade, I like everything a cruise ship has to offer and I like to experience as much as I can. I haven't been on many cruises so that's why I'm still in awe. Perhaps the people who complain about what the ship has or has not offer, have been on too many cruises!!

I guess what I have read regarding "Celebrity Snobs" is real.

Steve would be one of the last people on this board I would consider a Celebrity Snob. I've read his posts for a while and he just doesn't fit the mold.

I won't deny that there are many here though. And quite amusing.

Hey Folks! There's a reason ice cream comes in flavors , and IMHO that's a very good thing.

Here's a "scathingly brilliant" idea: continue the once per cruise buffet, but set aside a section of the MDR for regular waiter service. If it works having a section set aside for Select Dining, this could work also.

Personally, I thought there was a lot of good stuff and beautiful presentation. However, as some mentioned, it was a zoo around the buffet when it first opens. Going later is a great idea.

Enjoy the flavor of your choice :)

We've enjoyed the brunches. And yes, we do eat many breakfasts in the dining room. Like any other buffet, you do need to get up and move around to choose your food, but I personally don't mind doing that. Would I want it every day? No, but I think it was a good alternative to the midnight buffets, which were a waste. I guess if you miss being waited on for that one morning, you could get room service, and stay away altogether. JMHO

Has Celebrity eliminated the midnight buffet?

I was originally thinking about trying the brunch on our next cruise, but after reading some of the posts, I think I'll stick with my butler delivering me breakfast on the balcony!!! DH and I don't like buffet's either (I am a major germaphobe) and we have come to really enjoy starting our day on our balcony with our breakfast! Thanks for the honesty in reviewing the brunch!

Send me on a 14 night cruise and I'll get right back to you on that!

Sara

:D:D Well, I will be on a 14 night in. April, so I was wondering. It would be nice to send all my friends on a 14 night to find out to all my questions, but I am okay with waiting 199 days to find out myself if needed!

So it seems there is conflicting information here. Do the waiters or whoever, escort you to an available table? Or is it like the regular buffet where you or mostly on your own to find a clean place to sit. It seems as if having someone seat you would cut down on things like dirty linens, wait staff not knowing if you just got there or have been there, arriving as table mates are leaving. Guess it won't help the food being "picked over" by fellow diners.

The times I've attended there has been a maitre d' (or an assistant maitre d') at the door to greet you and assign you to a table. And we've always been taken to a nice freshly-laid table.

And to the person who said there was no omlette station, there's always been one (actually several) every time I've attended the brunch. I love my smoked salmon omlettes!

I'm in the camp of avoiding this brunch. There is nothing appetizing about seeing a table mate with a plate of runny eggs, shrimp cocktail/sauce, roast beef, waffles, mashed potatoes w/gravy, turkey, cranberry sauce, beef stroganoff, bacon, sausage............... You get my point, uck and gag!!!!!!!

Having said all that, it's to each there own, so I'm glad for those who enjoy it, it's just not for us.

To those who made disparaging remarks about eating at the everyday buffet for breakfast, some us us can't be happier eating breakfast(cereal, milk, a banana/fruit, juice and yogurt) alfresco at the aft of the ship. Sure beats having our day begin waiting for room service on our balcony or the sometimes endless wait in the MDR.

I don't know if this has helped anyone, just an honest opinion.

And for all these years I thought that I was the only one who hated these bun fights.

Maybe someone who knows how should start a poll to see how many really enjoy these events and how many think that they should be allowed to go to a proper lunch in the MDR.

We liked the buffet. The tables were nicely set, soft music, nice ice sculptures and a lot of variety in the food selection. Yes, to each his own, but I did have a plate with eggs, shrimp, beef, jambalaya, etc and it was absolutely delicious.

I miss the midnight buffets. My husband and I are night owls and we have early seating so we'd always be getting peckish around that time. Now not only that is gone but the Gourmet Bites, too. It's disappointing.

Ditto. The midnight buffets were a fun tradition and I always enjoyed checking them out.

BTW - Susie I checked your NS blog today and you look fabulous! Awesome job- maybe those midnight buffets aren't such a great thing. LOL! Keep it up! C.J.

Thanks C.J! It's going to be interesting cruising, that's for sure. I definitely want to enjoy what the ship has to offer but I don't want to come home up ten pounds! I guess we'll see how it goes.
