KAWS Posted November 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2010 We've sailed the Mariner (loved her) and we're booked with some cruise virgins on the Adventure. I THINK they are the same class ship, but if someone has sailed on both, can you give me a comparison? I want this cruise experience to be their first, not their last. Anything you can tell me about the similarities or differences would be appreciated.
cb at sea Posted November 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2010 They are virtually the same...decor will be different, but that's about it. Mariner is newer than Adventurer....Any of the Voyager class ships will be a great 1st experience!
foxhound Posted November 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Balconies look different. The Mariner balconies have more glass.
uksimonusa Posted November 17, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 17, 2010 There are a lot of differences between a generation 1 Voyager class, Voyager, Explorer and Adventure and a 2nd generation voyager class, Navigator and Mariner Check them out here www.voyager-class.com but dont worry 2 of our best cruises were on Adventure, great ship and crew
Daycare Provider Posted November 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2010 We have done both......you will love the AOS....Portofino's and Chops on the AOS were better because you couldn't hear the kids above you..in the kiddie programs like you could on teh Mariner
ToddinVA Posted November 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2010 I've sailed on both and they are both good ships, but I preferred the Mariner. It seemed to be run a little better and it's a little newer.

When was it added to the ship?.
Ocean Boy Posted November 17, 2010 #12 Share Posted November 17, 2010 I have no idea why a certain poster above keeps saying that the two ships are virtually identical except for decor. There is a big difference in balcony structure on the two ships as has also been pointed out above.

JetlaggedTraveler Posted November 17, 2010 #14 Share Posted November 17, 2010 The Windjammer on the Adventure is about the worst buffet at sea as far as food quality and variety are concerned. The Mariner is much better if that is a factor in your decision.

Sorry i mistated...while we were on teh Mariner...we could hear the kids club abouve our heads...(Chops) While we sailed on teh AOS we had great service in Portofino's...and no little kids running over our heads....Sorry...:(
julesbeara Posted November 17, 2010 #16 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Both ships are great. I would pick your cruise based on the itinerary not the ship. The ports you visit make your trip truly unique in additional to the ship activities.

All have been acceptable buffet's, no more no less.

In addition to the differences already stated above, AOS has Adventure Beach on the back of the ship which has a small slide and pool. The Mariner has a larger teen area in place of Adventure Beach. Ocean Boy Posted November 17, 2010 #19 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Sorry i mistated...while we were on teh Mariner...we could hear the kids club abouve our heads...(Chops) While we sailed on teh AOS we had great service in Portofino's...and no little kids running over our heads....Sorry...:( No need to be sorry. I just don't want people who have not sailed on Adventure getting the idea that there is a Chop's aboard. That is how erroneous information starts getting posted as fact on these boards.
