leith Posted December 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2010 This will be our first Celebrity cruise and I am wondering if there are things that we should "not miss" or secrets about Solstice we should be sure to check out. Are there any special food treats that are to not be missed, special areas on the ship to be sure we visit. You get the idea...I am looking for the really cool stuff so we see the neat parts of Solstice. Thanks in advance for your help!!
Senga Posted December 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Although not art buffs, the self directed iPad art tour of the Solstice was cool and took us to places we might have otherwise missed. The honey scones with cream and jam at afternoon tea is definitely a don`t miss.
greydog Posted December 8, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Corning art glass blowing show is fun in early evening - free and about 1-1.5 hrs.

Sea Addict Posted December 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2010 If you enjoy cocktails, don't miss having a drink at the Molecular Bar...fantastic! The "Dragonfly" may be of interest...
Sea Addict Posted December 8, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Specialty restaurant Murano is excellent. Silk Harvest is also very good.
Tiki_Man Posted December 8, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Cellar Masters is a wonderful spot to have a glass of wine before dinner. The back of the room, sofa's near the window are great to watch a sunset (large windows, close to the water rushing by). Also, if you are in the Martini Bar across the beam and would like a little snack (grapes, crackers or cheese) with your martini, just walk over to the Cellar Masters and make a small plate, especially if you have plenty of time before dinner or before a show. Rare Mrs_Tiki Posted December 8, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 8, 2010 I agree with Mr. Tiki's suggestions, and would add... Bistro on Five is a great place to eat on embarkation day. It was well worth the $5 cover to enjoy yummy crepes and paninis and avoid the crowd in the buffet upstairs. (The Nutella/Banana dessert crepe is on my "don't miss" list, for sure!) Aqua Spa Cafe is a great, healthy alternative for breakfast and lunch, with no extra charge. Have a great cruise :)
noriboating Posted December 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Additionally, the spa is wonderful. I got the best haircut I've had in years and an amazing hot stone massage. The lunch buffet is the best I've had at sea. Don't miss the lamb dishes and mousaka. I also loved the Mexican station where I consumed too much guacamole. There is a prize drawing in the casino (I don't remember when) which was lots of fun. And anything involving the captain is a hoot (water volleyball, etc). Murano is a must! We had a great time in Tuscan but did not feel the food or service compared with Murano. I love this ship! Have a ball and explore every inch of space. Wine-O Posted December 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 8, 2010 Right before you walk from the Pool area into the Solarium on the Starboard side, there's a hammock built for 2 with a netting around it -- a great place to take a snooze. There's also one on the Port side, but that's the smoking area which I tend to avoid. Also, in the Solarium, I loved the iglu shaped loungers for 2 -- They swivel around to different directions -- grab one near the window for some privacy and view of the ocean. Look for Spa specials. My wife swears by the seaweed wrap, 2-hour massage she got for 1/2 price.

Nanny2Trey Posted December 9, 2010 #15 Share Posted December 9, 2010 Spent two weeks on Solstice. So wonderful. I second the Bistro on Five for Embarkation day. So peaceful and relaxed and delicious. We loved the Tuscan and the rib eye was fabulous. Must have been off night when we went to Murano. Food and service was just ok. Loved the indoor pool area. Had 3 amazing massages. My favorite was the Lime Ginger Salt scrub with massage. And, do not miss trying the gelato. I know there is a charge but it is very very good. The grapefruit gelato was very refreshing. I know the ice cream is no extra charge and I had plenty and it was delicious. But oh I would love some more gelato. They make their own ice cream and gelato on board. Have a wonderful cruise. 2morecruises Posted December 9, 2010 #17 Share Posted December 9, 2010 Personally, I recommend the waffles. If memory serves me right (maybe not) I think Texed burned up a waffle iron on a 10 day Equinox cruise back in January 2010. Yes/No ??? :D Back on topic: My vote: 1) Molecular Bar, 2) Riedel Wine Glass Tasting ($$).

natshala Posted December 10, 2010 #21 Share Posted December 10, 2010 If you like culinary demos, watch the daily for them. The chefs on board are very personable and entertaining. Also, sometimes there are visiting chefs and contests (like Iron Chef).

SugarLover Posted December 13, 2010 #25 Share Posted December 13, 2010 Three favorite places to relax: (all happen to be at the bow) on the double mattresses on deck 16 /Solstice Deck (day or night) for sunning, napping, or smooching ;) in the Relaxation Rm above the spa, quiet zone with extra wide wicker loungers to chill out or nap in sky lounge, with all those fabulous windows and the view that goes forever Oh yes,... and make sure to have a steam bath, so you can do the shower after... push the 'tropical' button first, and you get red heat lamps with warm water, and then follow up with the 'rain' button... delightfully cool rainshower under cool blue lights! You will be totally refreshed! .... coolest thing ever!
